my advice to erryone on this thread (perhaps all NL users) is that we all change passwords for ALL I mean ALL our online accounts. That may sound excessive but these hackers have got their hands on a treasure trove of data. Take a look at ur NL profile and I bet most people would have used their real names and real email accounts. A standard hack will be to access those email accounts using ur NL password (some people use one password for all online accounts) to spam ur contact list. I bet that same email is where u receive ur bank email communication so immediately a phishing attack for ur banking details can be initiated. Also if u used ur real name in ur profile then u can be tracked on facebook and possibly twitter and google+ for all those folks that have linked all their online social platform accounts.

So like in d art of war, confuse d enemy! Secure all ur online accounts by changing ur passwords. And please abeg biko use different passwords for different accounts...

Long Live this class of NLNG GTs

PS:sorry if d post is a bit long-winded

Now back to business.

Does anyone know when the Shl test results would be out? Also, any info on how many candidates would be proceeding to the Assessment Day stage?

But about this data loss, like the 2nd day into the incident, the hosting company started serving a shadow copy of nairaland.com and that was as of less than a week ago up-to-date. Not January back up like is being displayed. Can't like Seun get his hands on that?

If you even check google, you would still find the link to very recent pages of nairaland,(infact u can read a portion of some posts), only that when you try to open the link........nothing comes forth.....so I feel something can still be done to retrieve all.....hopefully. Where are d IT gurus na SQL_Master, Ikenna58..........start yr work from here before u enter bonny....maybe if u proffer solution sef, na direct employment to NLNG smiley smiley

majekdom2: Unfortunately , peeps that registered after feb or so won't be able to access their account for now ... SQL master , we are coming to arrest your boss ooo .. You posted earlier that you had a bet that this thread would hit 1000 pages and seems you work with an IT company, I can assume he didn't want to loose millions and did this to NL .. We got proofs, we coming over soon
well, what can i say? I've met my boss on the issue and it was vehemently denied. But i still can't understand why me boss would want to crash the whole NL system cos of a single thread. I mean, she could have attacked only this thread just by the click of a button! I'm still keeping tabs on her though. A sly hacker would always cover his tracks, but I swear before the gods(past and present) that i'm not gonna fold my hands and see my £2000 bet just go down the drain.
Btw, oga Seun never listened to advices. A colleague of mine had approached him on flaws of his security protocols. But he liked doing things the 'my thing my thing' way.
I've been carrying out my private investigations since day1 of the attack. I have two major leads now.
Be strong peeps, there'z always light at the end of the tunnel.
Btw, i missed you guys.

Anyway, INCASE data cannot be retrieved, @least for the benefit of future readers, just a brief summary of events between January and June:
1ST STAGE TEST
From February 19th/20th, invitation mails and SMSs were sent to successful applicants for the first stage Test for March 8th 2014.
The Test was administered by WAEC and was held simultaneously in different states in the country and some places in the UK. Info revealed that about 17,600 candidates sat for the first test.
Format
(Paper-Based), it was just basically General Mathematics to test your quantitative aptitude (no calculators), Logical reasoning, Verbal reasoning, and few general science and management questions. GMAT and GRE may be a bit useful.

2ND STAGE TEST
From May 20th/21st, mails were sent to both successful and unsuccessful candidates of the first test. About a week later, invites were sent for the test which was conducted within a week, that is: June 16th-20th 2014. Each day had the morning and afternoon batch.
Info revealed that a little above 5000 were invited for the 2nd stage.
Format
SHL Computer Based. Practice questions at SHLdirect or assessmentday.
For 2007 set, find their format here:
https://www.nairaland.com/46185/lng-test-speed-key
https://www.nairaland.com/46528/lng-test-format-today-engineering
However, this year’s Test was slightly different, just 4 sections:
-Numerical
-Verbal
-Abstract
- Data checking (non-engineers) and Mechanical Reasoning (Engineers)

For now, we await the result of the 2nd test to proceed to the next stage which is the Assessment Centre.
But almost 240 pages gone?? ....well asides the necessary info, we had lots of arguments majorly, other issues e.g Msc, Sports, Movies, work-place issues, break down of candidate selection for each stage, SHL questions Questions and answers…….etc.

Here is a link to a 2007 thread, but started from “after their 2nd test”
https://www.nairaland.com/48041/which-way-nlng
I don try, though I know lots more happened during that period but I hope I was able to bridge that gap @least to a reasonable extent sha.
Please incase there’s any addition or correction, others may wanna contribute.

In Memory of Data lost (January 10 –June 27)
*Hoping for its resurrection*

guys i suggest we all hold our fire for a bit. we just *may* be able to retrieve some data that we have lost on d thread. @DMainMan, can u lock this thread for a few days? That would be a good start. Also top IT heads in the house can toss in some ideas.

There's something called a cache which essentially holds a copy of a webpage either locally i.e. on your device or remotely on another webserver. I have performed a cache search for our thread on a renowned online cache repository. The good news is that there is a cache on that repo, the bad news is that it was last cached on Jan 23 stopping at page 21. I am trying to look for more online cache repo to see if our thread by some stroke of luck was cached anytime after that date. So here's what I would like the house to contribute, we can all try to search the cache on our devices to see if we can come up with anything. Here's how: on your web browser's address bar type the address of this thread https://www.nairaland.com/1495870/2013-nigeria-liquified-natural-gas/Bleep where Bleep stands for the page number in the thread. if u are able to see pages 22 and beyond then we have a cache on your system. please immediately copy the contents to MS Word and send me a PM. I will try to collate as many as can be retrieved. To conduct an online search for possible cached copies try a google search withe the following syntax "cache:https://www.nairaland.com/1495870/2013-nigeria-liquified-natural-gas" (leave out the quotes and see what u come up with). Also try and do a google search for cache website repositories. Archive.org is the biggest repo available but they last archived the thread on Jan 23. Oya u IT bigheads over to you o! @SQL-Master now is d time to show say that moniker nobi play play. @kennedyugo ubuntu skills to the rescue o: sudo-apt-get

I'm on a trip this weekend and all of next week so I cant really do much.

Also if theres anyone with links to the "dark web" abeg they should enter there and snoop around. The guys that took nairaland down surely will be bragging there. we can beg them for a copy of our thread.

@airsay, don't give urself much headache in trying to use caches to recover this thread.
About 242 pages have been transfered. Using caches would be very tedios and yet none of those pages would have unified sync with each other. Just let it be.
I suggest oga seun contract investigators(if he hasn't already done that), in order to retrieve lost data. The culprits of this act were probably trying to erase certain sections of particular threads. And since NL security markup was done in a chained data format, the entry and exit points clears all data linkd to them.
I dunno the particular culprit, but i think seun should chek his trails. There were minor security breaches which were taken for granted. He should start with the one that occured around Jun 03.

U right you know, after that June 3rd take down i would expect that all disaster recovery plan would have been activated and off-site backup of d entire NL made. At d worst we should have lost a few weeks of data not half a year's worth!

I was banking on archive.org though, i know how much i have earned using their cache back then. will give it a couple of tries and if its not worth it then I tried. Google cache sef nor try...i thought they cached sites up to two weeks back. Tried them but its one kind
