I always told my mum I was going to the cyber cafe to browse(cyber cafes were trending then), then I'd go to his house and spend the whole day. One day my mum told me, "everyday u're going to the cafe, one day that cafe will come to you and I hope u'd be ready to accommodate it for nine months". Fear catch me no be small 17 Likes |

During my secondary school days, I usually told them I was going for "Night Classes" to study up for my GCE (I was in SS2 at the time). Then when I got to Uni, I usually smuggled the girl into the house to spend the night in my room without them knowing. My elder cousin always co-operated anyway. But I can't do that anymore now, since I've outgrown that. I'm my own man now, in my own house n' shhitt. |

I remember the day my girlfriend's Father caught me, after her many sneaks! I was taking her home, when she spotted his car behind us, Our instincts was to speed off and get to their house as soon as possible. We did get to the house on time, came to get her stuff in the trunk, rushed a kiss and She ran into the house, while I rushed to drive off from their gate. Interestingly, the Father was standing at the Balcony, and saw everything. His car had only one occupant, the employed driver. That ended our 2 years of sneaking in and out, and the Man invited me into his house afterwards. For strange reasons, when he was talking to me I began to sweat, and developed a running stomach. His voice was too deep! He's now my very good friend and advises me not to jilt his daughter. 4 Likes |

mumumugu: For a girl child especially when your parents ask you if you are dating your first instinct tells you to deny deny deny! Black parents simply cannot accept that their daughter is dating. To them it is like telling them you are having unprotected sex with several men! It is almost as though they are being shamed in public and they have failed as parents. They act like back in the day the father never sat under a tree at the corner waiting for the mother to come out of the gate so they can walk each other to go buy bread at the furthest tuck-shop they could find just to be together for longer. It is a wonder I tell you that girls even get married consideringhow much of a top secret a girl dating is. If you stay at home especially dating is a mission, you learn to be sneaky and how to use time well just so you do not get caught. Obviously it does not always work out as with most things but that is how life is. I know tradition and culture tend to hold back openness between a girl child and her parents but at some point one has to point out how utterly ridiculous it is. I would like to believe that if ever I have a child I will rather know where she s going, whom she is going with and when this person will bring my daughter back as opposed to being totally clueless about who is this person that makes my daughter smile so much.wt has dis got 2 du wt me |
