Nigerian Songs You Can't Understand How They Became Hit Songs by soulfood(m): 3:11pm On Nov 21, 2013 |
There are some songs that have become major hits but I couldn't understand or comprehend how people got around enjoying them. Topping my list is Stereoman's Ekwe Sample. O Boy(whistles), music lovers grooved that jam and I wondered why? The beat and song were fighting each other. Next is Dr Sid's Something About you. Heavy paid rotation got me enjoying it eventually. And lastly and most recently is Skelewu by Davido. Maybe I would okay the beat. Beat aint bad at all but what is "Laga dis,Laga dat". Have you ever had songs you heard the first time and you trashed it only for the same song to become a major hit? Please share. 11 Likes |

Virtually all Naija 'hit' songs. But I'm just gonna name a few that really baffle me with their utter lack of meaning Davido - Skelewu All Terry G songs All Timaya's songs(especially Ukwu ) Kcee - Pullover(Seriously,I still can't believe he ACTUALLY went into a studio and recorded that shiit) D'Banj - Scapegoat. And as if the main song wasn't bad enough,he had to go ahead and disgrace Naija, doing the remix with Kanye and all that Oh,and let's not forget Stupiid Love and Durosoke by that noisemaking Lil-Wayne wannabe Ok those are the worst of the lot to me 29 Likes |

I remember the first time I heard Ifana Ibaga by 2face back in the early 2000s and I was like 'what kinda trash is this?'. Fast-forward 6 months later and it was a heavy hit. Same thing happened when I first heard Olamide's Eni Duro, I was like 'where's this Naija Lil Wayne from'? Look at where that song has put him. 5 Likes |

Limpopo. I was like what is this guy saying the first time I heard it. Lim po po as in Lim po po. is it not supposed to be the name of a river ? If you hear something over and over again, you become de-sensitised to it. 19 Likes |
