Nigerian students: the universities in your country are really bad and their degrees don't mean much at all. They're not worth going.

If you had the money, you would've already gone to the West (US or UK) to study.

If you don't have money for that, consider going to Ukraine or India.

If even those places are beyond reach, go to Ghana, we have much better schools than Nigeria and we attract many talented Nigerian students. Who knows, you might even learn from Ghana how a civilised society functions, so that when you return to Nigeria (sorry, you cannot stay in Ghana after graduation), you may contribute to the development of your backward land.

Mazi_Omenuko: This is good! The coward lecturer decided to hold a class for students when ASUU is working hard to resolve the strike! These are the backstabbing cowards that needs to be flushed out of the system.

Taking a look at the lecture hall and the crowded students, you will understand better why ASUU is fighting for the revamp of the universities.

You know that Rivers State University never went on strike right?!

My brother, isn't that despicable? And its a csc course for crying out loud! Csc courses that should hold in a comfortable and equipped lab, with projectors and each student with his own system!

Wouldn't be surprised if he's teaching them fortran and pascal programing languages of 1912! The mumu students just wants to graduate with empty brains!

ASUU's demands might all seem a bit selfish but its also for your benefit.the quality of education is very poor.nigerian institutions have to keep up with standard.i know my experience as a student.they have started this war and they cant back out now unmet.its just an example of the experience during the fuel subsidy strike.if you back out now, it makes a huge statement and you cant win the war again if you try.its should be obvious the government dont give a rat A.r.s.e about you guys.just sad nigeria produces the most gullible, timid students.pathetic.3 damn months ! If you guys realy had the feary fire of knowlegde breathing out through your nose you would bring this country to a stand still.you just dont know the power you have.you student ought to be breathing fire.thats what real education does to you.this cant happen in Europe.

And that lecturer(godspower) is a very nice man! I remember him setting a very simple exam for us to pass In first semester! Everyone was thinking it was going to be theory but he gave us objective to answer and trust law students na! We demolished the questions! This was a computer science course that was dreaded by law students!

And for those of you who are making noise that law students don't have any bussiness with computer science courses only shows that you guyz are still struggling to pass jamb because even 300L law students do offer the course!

The governor and chief sponsor of the state owned uni decided that it can fund the school and provide all that is needed to take the school to the next level; so no biggie in that.

But the FG has decided to play hide and seek; opening new universities when the already existing ones are poorly funded!

That classroom board is too old fashioned for a school like uniben. I don't think U can still see such in uniport. ..

Back to the topic, I thought ASUU is a voluntary organization, if someone decides to lecture, it's his choice.. After all Fagge said 'ASUU did not close down the university, the school management did'. The management has reopened the schools and ASUU is now disrupting activities, giving the police an excuse to get violent with them...

Same way he promised to inject 2.2bil into the universities annually. The students should have demanded for a signed copy of the arrangement to deploy police into the campuses as ASUU is demanding its own.

Now you know why FG can't be trusted!

[b]The worse disease that can afflict a person is for him to fail to identify his predicament.
The kind of blindness affecting those criticising ASUU definitely has no description to the knowledge of even science itself.
For those who per chance have their objective hats on, isn't that board at the front of the class a symbol that our university system is extremely lamentable, awful and unspeakable?
I'm certain that not even the worse universities in Sudan or Liberia still puts on such a disgraceful look as above in this 21st century.
What else if not such an extreme decadence will be the reason for the rejection of even our PH.D graduates in advanced countries. We don't even have a chance to compete with the least developing country.
It is a sarcasm to refer to many Nigerian graduates as 'Half Baked' while in reality there was no bakery at all.
Nigerian students don't even reason locally talk less of globally. Imagine a graduate that doesn't know the need of a common projector.
We definitely don't need a less revolution by ASUU. Lets cover our various sentiments and selfishness for the sake of our future. Biko!

Well said......
But, does this really means govt has abandoned our unis for years, these uni reciv allocation from govt yearly, they generate funds too, like #20k and above acceptance fee and other internally generated funds......moreover, u will surely be a testament to the fact that most of our lecturers too show a very lethargic or a devil-may-care attitude towards effective teaching ....they mostly encourage rote learning......
So if their attitudes do not change, let govt pump 1trilion per month in to our edu system, you will see that it will amount to nothing.....ASUU must improve on the way they teach too......cos so far, they av only mention the prob on the part of govt....I hope they av discussed the ASUU issues too .....

"Nigeria" and "great minds" and "renowned scientists" don't go together. Cognitive dissonance detected.

I'm not saying Ghana's are the best, if you have the money, go to US, UK or even India. But still Ghana is better than Nigeria no matter the rankings. So what we never produced a Chinua Achebe? We have a more civlised, functioning, and sane society and I'd rather have that than someone from my country winning an subjective Nobel literature award any day.

I can't stop laughing coz some ppl on this thread ar busy talking about how poor d lecture hall, board etc are as if it's not d case in almost all d universities in Nigeria. U guys should be less concerned about dos things until FG releases d money to ASUU, nd after few years if there are no changes den U can talk about how poor one school is. For now, no pot should call kettle black coz my school isn't better either.
