IMO, i don't think it matters if he were a comic actor or not. They are professionals, so they ought to adapt as regards any role they are given, irrespective of the genre. Take Hugh Jackman in The Greatest Showman for instance, i would have so disagreed with whomever told me he'd do well in a musical comedy drama. He wasn't great though, but he was very good. Do you know he was nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for his performance in that movie, and this was the same guy who played Logan / Wolverine in the X-Men franchise for years.

Hugh Jackman is a bad example. You can't compare Hemsworth to an accomplished super actor like Hugh Jackman. He's tier 1 in terms of talent, and Hemsworth is tier 3 at best. Tier 1 actors are extremely talented and versatile, and thus can play anything. If you take a gander at his filmography, you'll see he has done it all; rom-com, action-thriller, fantasy, sci-fi, superhero, musical... etc.

Hemsworth doesn't have that kind of range, I'm afraid. He's more of a specialist than a method actor.

When I watched infinity war I wanted 3d and got to the cinema 1 hr before time and was told it was sold out. Had to settle for 2d.

Tbf, Dark Phoenix was produced by 20th Century Fox, not Marvel Studios aka MCU. I know both are subsidiaries of Disney, but as a MARVEL movie studio, MCU has a far more better track record than Fox.

Well don't you think, specialist is kinda too hard or harsh of a word to qualify Hemsworths' acting with. If am not mistaken here, you're simply implying he's a stereotyped actor. Frankly speaking, I don't really see Hemsworth in the midst of stereotyped actors like Liam Neeson, Tom Cruise etc the dude is quite very talented & versatile to a reasonable extent, At least, he has appeared in the following genre; science fiction action, thriller adventure, horror comedy, dark-fantasy action, war and biographical drama, fantasy, Comedy, and his performance in the movies of these genres listed above were quite impressive.

Dark Phoenix is a very good movie. The problem is that it had a bad timing. Spoilt movie critics and lay men just wanted something like avengers. If they had released this movie in 2020 or just before avengers, the ratings would have been higher.

To be released few months after avengers is to welcome failure. So many foolish fanboys were expecting avengers from xmen.

Back to the movie. The movie has better flow of action than Avengers endgame. I also like Magneto. Magneto will kill thanos in a heartbeat.

He's a flash in the pan, basically, someone that codedly steal a living purely on their good looks and charms. Someone like that can't play a complex character to save their life, I mean, look at the terrible job he did at the El Royale movie. He was by far the least convincing character in that movie, and he was supposed to be the big bad at that. Bleh!
