Film isn't out yet but a directors cut on the horizon.

Fresh indeed. Blackwash Ben-hur then sprinkle a bit of black dynamite satire and blend together with black jesus

Everyone has a muse.
Believe it or not there's no story under the sun that's NEW these days. Nothing you wanna tell that's not been done before. So anything as reinventing the wheel, a touch of variety and dynamism is very much appreciated.
This or you're very okay with IPs, sequels and prequels.

Here comes ramblings about how unhistoric these two films have been.... grin grin
The projections for Oppenheimer an R rated movie - not a franchise or a sequel has increased to 990 million just yesterday but someone said it's not an achievement
Well done

Fair enough. I'd take it over another fast and family sequel

YOU ARE SO NOT INVITED TO MY BAT MITZVAH --- 8.5/10

A light-hearted, entertaining movie that explored family, Jewish tradition, friendship, teenage pettiness and naivety, and most Importantly, growing up.

Acting was great, comedy was pleasant, emotional element was good, musical scores were top notch, and overall, the movie was enjoyable.

Is that black John the Baptist, and black Jesus? When did John the Baptist and Jesus become black? Which historical data dating back to the first and second centuries validates or states that? The John the Baptist even has a Nigerian accent, what da fΓΌck?

If you want to produce movie, produce it without altering the racial, gender and sexual identities of historical characters. There should be a limit to woke πŸ™„.

I don watch am, that's how I know about the black Jesus and black John the Baptist with a Nigerian accent πŸ˜‚.

I have no issue with the movie's concept. I only have issues with the black portrayal of Jesus and John the Baptist. Where's the historical data from the first and second centuries to support that? I guess anything to promote radical woke is allowed 😏.

Na you know the trailer wey you watch because the premise the trailer establishes is that Lakeith sees Jesus, who is white, and decides to become a fake messiah to garner that same influence Jesus had.

The Jesus wey I see na black ohhh with red shawl for em head πŸ˜‚. What about the black John the Baptist with Nigerian accent πŸ˜‚.

I don rewatch the trailer, yep, na black Jesus be that πŸ˜‚.

My own be say make that Nigerian accent baptistiser better no be John the Baptist, but another person, and make that Jesus better transform to white or brown skinned when dem finally release the movie. If not, Christians (especially non black Christians) and historians fit come for the movie head πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

It's 33 AD. There's a white Jesus which means the OG John the Baptist is dead.

Even if this movie was Hood Jesus and David Oyelowo's character was John the Baptist, e still no mean. We all watched Bros J that year and laughed. Now any small thing, una go shout "woke"

"Past Lives" (2023)

What if this is a past life as well, and we are already something else to each other in our next life? Who do you think we are then?

If a movie gives me the feeling that Charlie Kaufman's Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), one of the best films i have ever seen, gave me, then that movie must be special.

Wow! This was a marvelous rendition of those tiny forces that binds us together but sometimes tears us apart. Celine Song's Past Lives is so magical in its simplicity that might seem monotonous and probably too mundane for those unaware or new to art as good as this. It challenges the very essence of the human connection by presenting as a romantic flick, but it's much more, the beautiful direction and powerful delivery by the cast allowed me to absorb each emotional wrenching moment, i had to learn unrelenting patience in some part of the movie that wanted answers to the question the flick was asking, desperately.

The cinematography is top work, good enough for those beautiful frames and mundane enough to drive the narrative. The dialogue was 60% Korean and 40% English and it didn't feel like i was seeing a foreign language movie as the Korean was as if it was a language i had known all my life, as the actors actions was enough to get the message across, it might as well be a silent language film and i will still get.

The beautiful flaw of Past Lives is that it poses so many questions but with no definite answers. What were we in our Past Lives? Have we lived this life before? Are we transversing various Lives and settling for the one that suites us best?. The entire flick is a placard of the simplest life questions but the right answer might not be the best answer.
I haven't seen some obvious titles this year for reasons behind my control but this almost toppling Rye Lane and Joyland
as the best titles to have been released this year that i have seen so far, says a lot. This is a special special movie. One of my fave show of the year so far being "Beef" means the Asians are seriously cooking maannn, i probably need to get into thier media more, especially that of the Koreans.

And A24! Maann, These guys can't even miss even if they tried, Thier knack for top shelf media is just uncanny at this point. They are the only major studio allowed to work through this strike, and the reason is not far fetched, they care about this art so so much.
