Unfortunately, I've not been able to compile FG projects in southwest and southsouth. I'll do that on a later date.

But suffice to say that the projects that easily stand out in the southwest include the ongoing re-construction of Lagos-Ibadan road. The Benin-Ore road is easily one of the best federal roads in the country.

For the southsouth, the over 300km East-West road is a landmark project for GEJ. The Niger Delta Development Commission (NNDC) is already doing a fantastic job in the oil bearing communities in the last 2-3 years, in terms of road construction, shore line protection, human capital development,etc. In fact, from what I have observed from the outgoing acting MD, NNDC is no longer business as usual. I hope the trend continues.

THE present democratic dispensation is about 14 years old. President Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan’s election to the seat of power is symbolic, representing a paradigm shift, a renaissance, a new age, a new Nigeria. The revolution that Nigeria desires is silently taking place. Since the beginning of his administration just about two years ago, the emphasis has been on transformation: transformations of the way government businesses are carried out, attitudinal change, and value orientation.
His administration is characterized by silent revolutionary zeal. There is no noise or media hype of what is going on. President Jonathan has shown the ability to provide solutions to hydra-headed nagging national problems. His rule has touched on all aspects of the economy.
Now, what are those things that the Jonathan administration has achieved? Specifically and verifiable too, are;
• The first President and non-muslim to build Almajiri schools throughout Northern Nigeria. Until now, no government at state and local levels have deemed it fit that these Nigerians deserve rehabilitation.
• He took the courage to unbundle the Power Holding Company of Nigeria. We believe that very soon Nigerians will begin to see the effects of this bold step.
• Restoration of the railway system. The system has been moribund for the past 20 years. Feasibility of three others to open new railway corridors, which will be concessioned to local and foreign investors. Expected to create 10 million new jobs and cause inflow of 200 billion dollars investment into the country. Now, go and see these for yourself:
* Lagos-Kano train service is now fully operation after being moribund for more than 15 years
* Eastern rail line from Port Harcourt to Maiduguri
* Zaria/Kaura Namoda rail route
* Abuja to Kaduna 187 kilometre rail line
* Ajaokuta-Warri Standard Gauge Rail line
* Lagos-Ibadan new gauge rail line
• About 90% of 22 airports earmarked for rehabilitation and remodelling completed.
• Agricultural production has increased.
* Eliminating the corruption in the fertilizer distribution system, thereby ending the over forty year old racket and government subsidization of corruption
* The government intervention in rice production and other such initiatives resulted in the creation of more than two million new jobs among rural dwellers
* Cocoa export reached the highest level thereby creating a new set of millionaires. 900 million dollars worth of Cocoa exported, as non-oil revenue first time in decades
* Anticipated annual earnings of $136 million in foreign exchange from cassava which was exported for the first time in 2012 under the Vale Chain Addition programme of the Federal Government.
• Massive rehabilitation of roads throughout the country is ongoing via Subsidy Reinvestment Programme SURE-P. Checkout the following roads
* Abuja-Abaji-Lokoja;
* Benin-Ore-Sagamu dual carriageway;
* Onitsha-Enugu-Port Harcourt dual carriageway;
* Kaduna-Maiduguri dual carriageway;
* East-West Road
* Amongst others
• The SURE-P projects resulted from the partial removal of the subsidy on petroleum products:
* 500 Primary Health Centres (PHC) across the 36 states and FCT of the Federation
* Selection of 125 General Hospitals across the 36 states and the FCT
* Training of Nigerians across the federation on skill acquisition.
* Over 5000 jobs created in the health sector alone.
* Many more in the road maintenance sector.
• National dialogue
* This is a bold step to reinvent Nigeria
* For the first time, the no-go area clause is thrown into the dustbin, creating an atmosphere for Nigerians to sit down to jaw-jaw instead the war-war.
* To allow Nigerians define their own brand of democracy suitable to our diversity
• Upholding democratic tenets
* First President to declare a state of emergency without sacking democratically elected governments
* First President to embrace and brook opposition without the usual coercion using the Federal apparatus
* The most misunderstood, insulted and criticized, yet has remained focused without the usual abuse of office by use of ALL MEANS AVAILABLE.
We hope that this will culminate in a Nigeria where every citizen’s potential would be maximally exploited for the benefit of the country. If you can run, you will be encouraged to run very well; if you can jump, you will be encouraged; whatever you can do, you will be made to do it very well.
President Goodluck Jonathan has shown the road map to good leadership, which is the bane of the Nigeria project. He has consistently shown
• Commitment and respect to the rule of law
• Commitment to conducting free and fair election
• Commitment to participatory approach to resolving national issues
• Commitment to govern within the premise of the constitution of Nigeria
• Commitment to accountability as indicated by the performance contract signed by mem bers of his cabinet and their subsequent presentation of performance card.

President Jonathan is curbing corruption using systems, reforms and technology. Here are some of the things that has been done to curb corruption (in addition to the ongoing prosecution by EFCC)

Sincere 9gerian:
1) Reduction in political corruption: The GREATEST corruption anywhere in the world is the shameless stealing of peoples votes through rigging of elections. Besides the corruption associated with the process of vote stealing, a leader that does not emerge by popular vote, most likely, will be SENSELESSLY corrupt, since he does not need the people for anything. But a leader that was truely elected by his people, humbled by the process that brought him to power, will be less corrupt and more ACCOUNTABLE.
President Jonathan has since coming on board ensured free and fair elections. NONE of the present and past governors has had the courage and discipline to replicate this free and fair elections at the local govt level.

2) Free press: free press is one of the most potent weapons in the fight against corruption. Those who doubt its potency should enlighten themselves with books &several articles on free press, including " A free press is bad news for corruption" written by Beatrice Weder et al and "Only a free Press can root out corruption"
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-2100724/Only-free-Press-root-corruption.html
It is an undeniable fact that under the govt of GEJ, the Nigerian press has enjoyed the HIGHEST degree of freedom. In the past, we used to hear of media houses being closed down or programme presenters removed due to govt pressure but those are now things of the PAST.

3) Passage of the Freedom of Information Act: to further strengthen the press in Nigeria and to show that it has nothing to hide, the govt signed into law the Freedom of Information Act. This law empowers the press to demand for whatever information that will aid their work &was signed into law after decades of rejection by past govts.

4) Weeding Out Of Ghost Workers: for several years, public officials have defrauded the nation billions of naira using names of non-existing workers (aka ghost workers). The present govt is putting a stop to it by capturing the bio-data of all federal civil servants and implementing an integrated pay roll system.
Though the reforms have not been completed, but so far a total of 45,000 ghost workers who earned over N100billion has been uncovered from about 251 ministries, directorates and agencies. This singular reform has saved this country about N100billion (more than the annual budget of some states)
http://bbs.chinadaily.com.cn/thread-830385-1-1html

5) Change in EFCC leadership: the govt inherited an EFCC headed by Madam Waziri. Most Nigerians and the international community were uncomfortable with her credibility. The govt swung to action, removed her and brought back Lamorde, who was said to be the engine room of the then Nuhu Ribadu led EFCC.

6) Elimination of Fertilizer distribution scam: through a new system of fertilizer distribution, termed Growth Enhancement Scheme, which basically involves giving the fertilizers DIRECTLY to the farmers through the use of mobile phones, the govt saved a whopping N25billion in 2012.
http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/adesina-fg-saved-n25bn-in-2012-under-new-fertilizer-scheme/136515/

7) Signing into law of the The Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 : This law canceled the Money Laundering Act, 2004 and makes comprehensive provisions to ban the financing of terrorism, and the laundering of the proceeds of crime or illegal acts.
This law accounts for the recent increase in the number of people caught at Airports trying to launder money abroad ( including the son of Jigawa state governor)

9) Reduction of the scam in the fuel subsidy scheme: the govt saw the corruption in the fuel subsidy scheme and decided to end it once and for all in January 2012 with complete removal of fuel subsidy. Unfortunately, the protests stalled it.

10) Reduction of scam in the pension scheme: the rottened system of corruption the govt inherited did not spare the pension scheme. Through the activities of the Pension reform task force and bio-metrics registration of eligible pensioneers, billions of public funds have been saved. The funds saved by the task force was confirmed by Okonjo-Iweala, who stated that "through the various biometric screening conducted between June 2010 and 2012, the Maina Task Force was able to save N74 billion that would have been embezzled through the fraudulent activities of those in charge of paying out pensions". Not satisfied with that, the govt invited an international audit firm of great repute, the KPMG, to audit the federal pension system.
Notwithstanding the recent suspicious attack of the senate on the Maina led task force, courtesy of the activities of the task force, some pension thieves are currently undergoing prosecution.

diva_tosin: President Jonathan is not the one who unbundled PHCN. OBJ did. But Jonathan has surpassed that feat by over 100%.
I'm very very proud of Jonathan's achievements in the power sector and will vote for him to complete it.
While OBJ wasted over 16B dollars on NIPP's, Jonathan has in less than 3 years finished work on the NIPP's and has succesfully privatised them. That is a remarkable milestone that will catapult the electricity sector to an enviable height.

You shouldn't be lying blatantly on a public forum. The Lagos to Shagamu axis is currently undergoing construction by JB. That has been a major issue to travellers cos they blocked a lane and motorist were forced to share one lane.

You see why my question isn't useless cos i used that road to Benin roughly 3 weeks ago.
