no biggy-in the first place, most of their emails go to the junk and eventually emptied without you reading the content. in the case where it goes directly into your inbox, then delete it. you can't be scammed by merely reading it except you take any step further which could make you gullible and that's why it's believed by scammers that only the greedy ones fall easy prey. i receive scam emails too, and i make sure they end up in the recycle bin. |

olanajim: Maybe not entirely, but at least, it's a start. Just out of curiosity - why have your email on your profile anyway? Is it in the hope you'll develop a relationship with someone through it? I'm not criticizing, merely curious. |

I got the same mail from mercytatari. I knew instantly it was a scammer. The key to detecting such scams are:- one, if it sounds so patronising, and usually they have an address outside Naija usually Senegal/Ivory Coast/Liberia. The simple test is to ask for her phone number. You will never get a number rather they will ask you to call a Bank Manager who is in custody of the late father's funds running into millions of dollars. Where did the father get such funds in the first place. Greed is the tool for scams. Why should a mercy tatari pick me (a complete stranger) from far away Nigeria to receive money for her? We all know how they frisk most Nigerians at the entry ports of so many countries, so why me? why a Nigerian? With these caution notes, its difficult for any scammer to slam me. Same for the lottery scams. Me wey no play lottery, how I go come win lottery of Euros 5.0 million? Its simply out of tune with logic, so my fellow Landers, be guided. |
