yungboss: funny little
story of what a little bmw could do:
in my little '94 6cyclinder e36 320
i (2.0l), i raced a '02 toyota avalo
n (v6 3.0l) and a nissan maxima/alti
ma (2.5l I4)....was on my way from p
h to warri, the road is bad tho but
ther's a good stretch of flawless as
phalt...in my little auto (148hp,140
lb-ft torque) the avalon breezed pa
st me cos its a 210hp, 220lb-ft torq
ue...i followed him, we were racing
cos i gave him the sign and he ackno
wledged...i followed and caught his
tail at 160...followed at 170, 180 a
t 195kmph(exceeding my previous reco
rd of 180 in the benz c220) i left h
im static, like he was moving backwar
ds grin...handling was unbelievable at
that speed, i made sure i made him
look small on my rearview mirror bef
ore i let off my gas...he came up to
me and i allowed him pass looking s
o embarassed with his passenger smil
ing, from that day i fell in love ag
ain with my 320,for rising to the oc
assion...only then did i realized th
at that toyota sedan was not a race
car but a luxury and economy car for
mothers taking their children to sc
hool and back
I don't
think the toyota guy had d balls to
step on his gas pedals. that cld be
his first/only car.

I think its not that, cos when i looked up the avalon's maximum speed limit it was 209kmph, for 220km/h unlimited. The 320i is limited at 214km/h with 250 km/h max. 1/4 mile is 16.9s against 17s for the avalon tho 0-60 is slow in the 320i (about 9 sec, but mine does it in 10sec...against the avalon's 8.5s)
One thing you have to know is that BMWs are very stable at high speed, the handling was like i was still on 140km/h (i couldn't even believe it myself), so i had the guts to push it that far not even willing to ease off cos i didn't want a close call to the race.
Dont know whether you've driven a BMW, if you've taken note of the steering feedback...if you haven't ask someone about the handling of this car and hear what they'l say...so i'm sure i edged out on the strength of its handling...
Besides the avalon is more of a luxury and economy car rather than race...it wasn't built for speed
