@Ojofree
Yes indeed all that trouble because of one bird. MSNBC has interesting documentaries and of course the just ended US elections i almost felt i was in the USA. Minute by Minute tracking to the extent you almost can guess whats going to happen there even before it does. There's also numerous scientific documentaries on one of the Mauritius TV stations (Rodrigue2 i think) As for MTV1 , Soso Indian Movies
I suppose all of that trouble is because we don't have the right tracking tools. A satellite Finder would also do nicely at anytime of the day!
Happy tracking!

@ oga badaru1,
haba, i dont know you also have intrest in programmes like that, afterall it seems justx24 is not alone at all.
But it seems the cost of the card is quite expensive, on top of what i do free of charge, i should now pay to watch, thats somehow ridiculous to me, if free2view cant leave it free then they should go look for market at another place.

@ ecowas4all,
thats a wonderful piece on tracking w3a, the mistake most make is tracking with 12728H tp, instaed of either tv miramar or tv malagasy, and make sure you one achieve nothing less than 80% in quality so as to make MSNBC tps to come up instead of cracking

@ ojofree,
wish you luck in your tracking

@ all, esp olofofo/badaru,
if iwant to install my motorised dish outside my home, as u can see from the first picture, thats my pas7/10, the east side is very free, but turning west, there's a blockage by the upstair to the left.
The second picture, is an option of me installing the motorised at the back of my house which gives me a clear view of the westside, cos thats my nss7, but the building to the left is a threat to the eastern satellites.

So you guys come to my rescue oo before i do the unthinkable,
I will prefer oga badaru to make a visitation to my installation site (my abode) and pin-point to the best location for the pole of my dish to be mounted so as to be able to receive both east and west.

BAdaru/olofofo,
am urgently awaiting your replies

@Enitan/All,
Viewafrica network have been advertising that they have added new channels on 12562H SR26657 and 12682H SR 26657. I have checked but without success. I also visited their site but no news. Any idea what is happening there.
Cheers.

i used satankeyboundle for that channel. But is a good news if the card for a single channel like tha is now sold in Nigeria. and i think on Hispast there are two-three chs that shows adult mov. But the hottest of them all is Hustler tv on sirius 4 but the sat beam is no longer a strong transponder in Nigeria but people in Algiers and morrocans get a good view of the sig.
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Gangsta101(m): 7:39pm On Nov 10, 2008
Ojofree,

well, whether w3a is interesting or not depends on you, and what other options you have. if you have a chance of only one bird, i'm not sure i would go for w3a, cos even though msnbc is probably the best american bias news station available to us, the other channels are neither here nor there. go africa show some music videos and italian serie a matches, mbc 1and 2, and tvmalagasy show some champions league matches, occasionally u get some indian movies if you are into them, but generally, they are just channels to scan through when u have nothing doing.
but i would advice you go still give it a go, so you'll know you have also caught it by yourself.

Adewest,

I am currently using th new strong receiver, 4663x, the software you are talking about is for the 4651/53x series, but thanks anyway. i am a little wary of patches right now, but i just might give the 1.07 patch of the 4663x a try when i am feeling lucky.

Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Gangsta101(m): 2:56pm On Nov 11, 2008
Pitodenz,

Actually, that would be like 22grand for the entire year, that comes to slightly less than 2 grand for a month. meaning its about half of HITV's subscription for a single channel.

Osef,

A 1.8m dish costs between N7500 to N10,000, depending on the type, in kaduna. haven't bought one in a while, but that i've asked in 2 different places and was told 8 and 9 respectively. but the type which is suitable for use with a motor costs at least 10grand.

All
To track w3A is as easy as any other ku sat receivable in W. Africa. From what pitodenz and enitan posted in season 1, I ve been able to track w3a in Lagos and Port Harcourt without any difficulties at all.

Here is what you should do.
1. make sure theres no obstruction to your east.
2. use 90cm dish or more not less.
3. when standing your dish hangar, make sure it is at angle 90 or tilting slightly upwards to your west not sloping downwards to your east.
4. set your lnb to 9 oclock position while you face your dish.
5. first track w4(as reference point), then input the free2view frequency( I’ve successfully tracked with it as it turns green immediately you get the sat)
6. move your dish a little to the right of w4 and stop, raise your dish up to the highest facing heaven. Keep movin (azimuth)and raising the dish(elevation). Try both the right and left of w4. am very sure youwill catch the bird.
7. when you’ve tracked the bird, then proceed to input other freqs. Look for the weakest signal, adjust your lnb skew and align your dish to get high signal
This is my experience with w3a and hope you will find it useful

Egyptian:
Hi, I have one more question, I am also trying to get Dandana TV, is it still FTA?? And if it is what direction do I face the Dish for me to get that channel from America?? Does it come on the same satelite as MBC?? Thanks in advance!!

Dandana TV is not FTA. smiley You can only get it on Subscription bases. It is on Anik F3 at 118.8°W & EchoStar 119.0°W. Dishnetwork is the provider. You can call them to subscribe. Go to LYNGSAT.com Dandana TV is on Transponder 23, 12050 R, S/R 20000. Now, this requires a special LNB, not a Universal as you may expect, but a Circular/Linear LNB like this one here. Due to board rules on this website, I'm limited to the nature of information that I can divulge. If you want to know more on how to go about getting Dandana TV without going broke yearly, go to the following sites. You may have to register (FREE) to enjoy the full benefits of these forums. Make sure you research very well before you begin your testing.  wink _www.ftatalk.com  _www.dsstester.com  _www.completefta.com or _www.TVkeyz.com . Just copy and paste the links without the "_"

EDITED: MBC International is also on Anik F3 at 118.8°W & EchoStar 119.0°W.  12094 L, Transponder 26, and S/R of 20000.

Also, due to the weak beam from Anik F3 at 118.8°W, you will need a 36 inc (90Cm) to pull in the signals.

Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Ecowas4All(m): 10:08am On Nov 12, 2008
@Sammu,
Interesting reference there to LNB skew. My installation is more of a 10 to 11 O'clock skew facing the dish rather than the 9 O'Clock you suggest. I will certainly try out the 12728 V frequency you suggest from W4.
Keep you posted.

Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by pitodenz(m): 12:02pm On Nov 12, 2008
@ all anybody trying to track w3a should bear this in mind: w3a works in both v and H polization depending on which azimuth direction you positioned it,thats why most of its freq in lyngsat is V,though in strong all is H.most guys here in ph uses pol V,thats why they call it sat from the south cos it faces south east when using pol V.The best way to go about this nauty bird is to use complete 90cm or 1.0m dish, after tracking mytv position raise the dish up with tv madagascar freq wham!signal will come dont forget to use pol H.
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Gangsta101(m): 12:05pm On Nov 12, 2008
Adewest,

Thanks for the head's up, it does seem like the more recent patches for strong receivers might just be able to allow one open jsc sports after all. searched out the latest patch for the 4663X (1.07p, dated 22/10/08) and (with both fingers and all my toes crossed and my heart in my mouth) loaded it via USB onto the receiver, and after it rebooted, i pressed the 8282 key and got to the key edit menu, and behold, there really was space for constant control word (CCW) keys. Too bad i didn't have the latest keys for jsc sports, i would have tried it out right away, but it's nice to know the strong receiver can handle it. now i guess all that's missing in the strong receivers is card sharing facilities and provision for HD support (though i do remember that in zaria, those commercial viewing centre guys found a way to achieve card sharing between units but i never really found out the details about that).

Strong 466+x series Users,

Another tip about the receiver, It is common knowledge that the PVR function allows you to record programs to watch on the receiver at a later time, you can also transfer such programs to laptop/desktop and watch it using VLC player at your own convenience. But i guess the really cool part of that PVR function is that it also makes it possible for you to watch your movies, gotten from say the internet, directly on you TV via the receiver. all you have to do is convert the movie from whatever its original format is to the .ts format, and the audio to mp2 format which the receiver recognises.
Technically, it isn't so so simple, but it is not too difficult either,  I am currently using Total Video Converter v3.12 to convert my avi movies to .ts format, and i have achieved some success. the video and audio play as clearly as the original but there are still some glitches in the conversion process which manifests as repeated pauses in the playback. this is because i have hit the right conversion settings yet, but i am still working on it (actually started last night and was able to convert movies from .mov, .avi and .wmv formats to .ts and get them to play). if i make any headway i'll let you guys know.

PS: Anyone who has already achieved 'perfect' playback should let me know.

Badaru,

If that is really how you look in real life (talking about your picture on your profile page) then you are without a doubt the most handsome person on this thread (if not on the entire nilesat), no wonder u sabi this satellite business well well. one thing i can say for sure, you obviously don't need to worry about chics liking you (ha ha ha).
Actually, i was looking for your mail address, could you mail it to me? Thanks.

@ badaru,
so does that mean, there's no option for me than to sacrifice one side for the other?
Oga badaru, just checked your picture on your profile, it seems another habit of we satellite hobbyst is being funny.
Well thats a good comment from gangsta.

@ gangsta/jujukemist.
do you have any advice concerning the problem of obstruction am facing, judging by the recent pictures i posted,

I NEED HELEPPPPP OOOOOOOOOOOOOO

@ nss7 viewers,
i got a text from OLA some days back saying a hcannel has been added on the sat, can someone pls confirm that, i also posted a question of confirmation on pas 7/10 if BEN tv has been added, which ws posted by a user, but no one has given a reply yet, thats quite bad oooooo, Is it just because am outside of satellite reach now, you guys didnt even bother answering my question on that.
FOX series channel coming upon nilesat very soon.
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Nobody: 2:22pm On Nov 12, 2008
@ osef,
while tracking the c-band frequencies on pas 7/10, Is there're any dielectric present in the c-band lnb. There're some modifications needed to be done on your c-band lnb, badau will be able to advice more on that.

Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Ecowas4All(m): 2:32pm On Nov 12, 2008
@Enitan,
This world is run by interests. If your neighbours see why its important to have a dish, perhaps you could install on the yelow building i saw in your pic? and then use a dual LNB to serve them as well as your outfit.
Please try that and keep us posted about their response.
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Nobody: 2:46pm On Nov 12, 2008
@ ecowas4all,
thanks so much for confirming that for me, is there anythign new again going on on pas 10.
The man in yellow house is a saddist, and by the way the building is a school and not residential place.

I still believe there's a way out, and am sure badaru and olofofo will surely find that, just that they still want to make fun of me before they profer a good solution

@ toxnaija,
make u no 4get me regarding that goodies oooooo
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Gangsta101(m): 2:57pm On Nov 12, 2008
Enitan,

Since you can't demolish you neighbours building, your best bet will be to rise above it (literally). Is it a motorised 1.8m dish you want to install? Technically, u could mount a stout pole on the ground, (you would have to make it very firm), such a pole should tall enough to give you enough clearance from the obstructions around you, that is the sort of dish mount we have in Makurdi (ours is only about 3 - 4 feet high though) but the truth is to mount a pole that will successfully clear a storey building is not a small feat, and after doing that, you will need a scaffold which is equally as tall so you can stand on it and adjust your LNB. if your dish were stationary, it just might be feasible, but for a motorized, well, cos no matter what you do, some areas will still be blocked off. another thing is your pictures do not really give me a good idea of the distance between the 2 surrounding buildings, so i don't know how to go about advicing you on how to beat their obstructive effect. wish we could get sort of like an aerial view (like in google maps ha ha ha).
Anyways, in this our world, we are constantly redefining the boundaries of impossible so i do wish you all the best.
I'll do a blind scan later today on Nss7 and see if anything new turns up.

All, does anyone have keys which are currently working for jsc sports?
