If you are living together and already sharing the responsibilities of married people, your partner may be less inclined to make the commitment you’re looking for because he’s already got the benefits. You help define the relationship, and you teach people how to treat you.
Marriage may not be a priority for your partner, and that’s OK. But if it’s important to you, that’s when it becomes a problem. If you know what you want, and he’s just not marriage bound, you may need to move on and find the commitment elsewhere.
Long engagements don’t necessarily predict good marriages. If your wedding day keeps getting postponed, get to the core of why.
Do you just want a ring on your finger — or is this the person you really want to spend the rest of your life with? If you’re just looking to get married, you’re setting yourself up for future problems.
