I have a brother who is 9years old. He convulsed 2 times last month --- the first one was just something else, it took him 30mins before he got relieved. We made him sit upright while convulsing, so he doesn't choke on his own saliva.

A week and some days later, same thing happened ...so he was taken to a hospital and also my granny brought some herb. He uses this at 3 days interval.

...and this morning again, around 5:30, he was in my room and convulsed again. I quickly put a spoon in his mouth and made him sit upright. I didn't shout (my mum sabi cry), when I realized he's relieved, then I called my dad and mum.

Everybody is just tired --- is there any permanent cure for this sickening thing called convulsion?

I really wish and pray there is. A young man was walking on the road around my area and slumped . All of a sudden started convulsing in the process hot oil from the woman frying yam by the road side poured on him. it was a terrible thing

And please understand that putting a spoon in his mouth is not good and actually dangerous for his wellbeing. He can get injured in the process.

From my little knowledge about convulsion, the following tips will help:

1. Once he starts to convulse, take away all sharp objects and ropes including all items that could cause injuries to him.
2. Allow air to get to him while in the state of convulsion
3. Do not try to restrict him while at it
3. Ensure to assure him after an episode. it's important for his dignity.

More importantly, check online for ways to handle him better.

Their is this local herb that was given to my younger brother when he was @d same age with Ur bro, he was also very convulsive, will ask my folks ltr anyways.. Worked like magic.

My twin nephews were staying with us becos their young mum cudnt cope. So my mum brought them to benin frm ile-ife.

They were severly malnourished and very sick.

Atleast twice a month they will get convulsion mostly at night. Me and my mum will walk from medical store rd to UBTH at 2 am becos no bus.

I think you do out grow it but surprised yur brother is still going through it at this age.I have 2 brothers and we all convulsed as kids but at about 4 we had all stopped it..I would say..see a Dr ASAP

Hmmmm, d person i know that always have convulsion was affected last 10yrs ago. So i can't really say if their is permanent/temporary treatment to it. We used different drugs and herbs for close to 15years before it stopped in 2004 .
Just pray for the child, may God heal him permanently.

Once had a roommate back in school who convulses. I hope there's a permanent cure to it.

Pls dont put spoon in his mouth it will not a good thing to do, U might mess up his dentation, there are drugs that help asin, they are prophylaxic but not curative.
Convulsion can only be managed. Ensure he is on the floor and any tight cloth loosen and any object that can cause harm be removed around him when next he has an episode
Most importantly let him see a dr(neurologist). He will be fine
