delishpot: He needs to get a CT scan done. Something must be triggering it. Was he like that before? Is he Epileptic? (no insult intended o) take him to a specialist hospital. He has to get adequate and full examination esp his brain and maybe if he is reacting to something that triggers his brain to me so fire. Thanks sir for your inputs.. He's not epileptic, he wasn't like this before. Some thick saliva (not foam) was coming out of his mouth tho. Thanks once again! |

Please do not make a person having a seizure sit up right. Always lie them down on their side. There's nothing like choking on saliva or swallowing their tongue. He needs to see a neurologist. With children it's tricky. Did he have a high fever any of those times. Whatever you do make sure you guys take him to a neurologist |

I opened a thread on this same convulsion cause it happened to my boss' kid. OP.... The parents should take the kid to see a doc o. Twice is too much and the average convulsion ought to last for 30second or within a minute. My findings so far. |

Pls don't go to a private Hospital, go to a teaching Hospital to see a Neurologist. Don't put spoon or sit him down, U might paralyze hm for life wt that. Action. Allow him/her to lay on his Back..................but for emergency situation Buy carbamazipine from pharmacy store ad when he is convulsing quickly squeeze it in water and drop the droplet in His Mouth just to touch his toungue it will stop it. Its The best drug for conulsion and epilepsy. The neurologist will be ur best shot |

At poster, from the symptoms you reported, your brother most likely suffer from a seizure disorder which would be quite discomforting for the person witnessing him convulse and the first instinct would be to help. 1.while he is convulsing, one should make sure that his immediate surroundings is safe. 2 allow him to lay on his side, usually left side, this will prevent aspiration on his saliva. 3. Do not sit him upright or insert any item into his mouth as this May cause more damage than good. 4. He needs to see a doctor ASAP, you know a stitch in time saves nine. 5. Usually, there is no cure for epilepsy but can be controlled by use of anticonvulsant drugs. |
Re: Any Permanent Cure To Convulsion? by ifekemmy(f): 5:24pm On Aug 04, 2014 |
Let me ask google..brb And google says Epilepsy can usually only be controlled and rarely cured. Some people will stop having seizures after a period of time, depending on what actually caused them. Some children have epilepsy that goes when they get older. For some extreme cases, people have surgery on their brains to remove damaged parts, which can reduce or cure their epilepsy. For most people though it is about control, so people will have to take their tablets without missing a single dose.. So sorry for you brother. Hope he gets better. I woulda said a prayer for him...but I can't say my prayers. Cheers. It is Convulsion not epilepsy |

bros is it convulsion or epilepsy.if it is convulsion ,it is easier cos children out grow it.at around ten yrs or so he will out grow it.convulsion on its own is nt a disease bt shows d presence of a disease. it occurs when there is shortage of signal or oxygen to d brain which can be caused by a lot of tins. But EPILEPSY is a pure spiritual issue, caused by epileptic demons.an example is d epileptic child cured by Jesus in d bible.epilepsy is nt out grown ,d only cure for it is casting out of d demon by strong born again christian.no go try am if u ar nt born again nd strong cos it will leave d person nd enter u !!! |

first of all. i want to salute you for yr courage for coming out to ask for help/opinion/advice on this very disturbing and traumatic experience. I was in yr shoes abt 8 yrs ago with my little daughter when she started convulsing but today at 8yrs+ she is a free person by the grace of God and help from the medical doctor and good people we have around us. I wont bother explaining what to do as a lot have been said here. while i appreciate everyone that has commented on this, pls note the comments of passingshot, eleojo23, haykayforreal, anansek, loadux and neforkene. These are the procedures we followed coupled with prayers during those period that our daugther had it. God in His infinite mercy will guide the doctor(s) on the best treatment to offer. Pls, dont make any incision on the boy's face. He will never forgive you for it if you do that to his face. Though i know how traumatic it can be, as me and wifey also shed tears during those days, pls encourage mama not to cry, that it shall be well. Above, pray if you believe in prayers. He is the God of all mercies. if you dont mind you can mail me yr mobile number at ayo_deji@yahoo.com and we can talk more on this. i dont want to drop my number here because of scammers. It is well with you bros. I care. |

There are many pit holes an your write up like: What his early childhood is like? What exactly he does during each episode? How long it lasts? You said 30 mins? Its likely Status Epilepticus. Does he know when an attack is about coming? Does he loose consciousness after it? Does he pass faeces, urine or something from the mouth during it? Does he sleep after each episode? First aid management does not include sitting him upright as he may aspirate his vomitus. Just lay him on the side(right or left) so that his vomitus is passed out. Take harmful objects away. Ensure he's breathing well. Can epilepsy be cured? Yes and No. You should know there are differences between epilepsy(now called seizure disorders),seizure, convulsion and epilepsy syndrome. Epilepsy can be treated with anti-epileptic agents taken religiously for 2-3 yrs after last seizure and hopefully controlled on this...compliance to drug very important. A single episode of seizure is not epilepsy...causes are found and treated. Epilepsy syndromes are invariably hard to treat except a few. Most important in management of epilepsy is trigering factor which may include: Hunger Music Flashes of light Etc This should be sort and taken away from the child. Use of herbs is prohibited becos the efficacy and long term complications encountered are rather devastating. My dear, see a doctor! In all, God heals. 1 Like |

Re: Any Permanent Cure To Convulsion? by allycat: 7:26pm On Aug 04, 2014 |
Below the age of 5 the commonest cause of seizures is febrile convulsions, this type usually stops as the child goes older. About 70% of other seizures have no known cause but a few of them are accused by a serious underlying disease like brain abscess brain tumours, meningitis! encephalitis which can be fatal if not recognized early. That is why a neurologist should asses anybody with seizures, if no neurologist is available a paediatrician will be in a better position than a GPC to asses your brother. 1 Like |
