Obi Justina Ejelonu, a nurse who attended to Patrick Sawyer, a Liberian-American Ebola carrier who flew to Nigeria on his way to attend a conference in Calabar, has died. Her relatives confirmed some moments ago that she passed away this morning.

Ms. Ejelonu had been kept in a quarantine facility in Lagos.

Until her death, the outdpoken nurse was at the center of a campaign to get the Zmapp experimental drugs to Ebola victims in Nigeria.

Ms. Ejelonu was one of the primary contacts with Patrick Sawyer at a Lagos Hospital where he received treatment after he was rushed from the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos where he collapsed. She was aged 25, her relatives said.

does anybody know what tests are done to confirm somebody has Ebola?

Is there a blood test ? if so what are they looking for to confirm an Ebola case?

How reliable is the test and is the results known immediately?

Nurse that came into contact with Patrick Sawyer an (alleged) Ebola patient, contracts an illness possibly malaria, yellow fever etc ,she is then quarantined and labelled an Ebola patient, she receives not treatment for her true illness and dies.

She is recorded as another Ebola death.

I find it hard to believe so many medical professionals can be so careless, if Mr Sawyer was so contagious he would have wiped out his entire family especially his wife.

I don't think our medics were really careless. You know,we all go to hospital.

1st you will be seen by a doctr who ask several question about how you are feeling,nurses too who may hav to do a thing or two to cool ur temperature while you wait for lab result. I believe none of the medical professionals took precautions before the result came out. Let even thank God,they even did a test to check if Sawyer had Ebola.

In this case,a patient who is seriously sick is rushed to this hospital,he must hav been burning up wt fever nd all. I guess d 1st thing on their mind was to stabilize him and keep him conscious till the test result came out. Don't forget he was the 1st case,how could they hav known what he had is contagious at that time?

It must hav been when it was confirmed that he had Ebola that they started taking all the necessary precautions but by then...deed must have been done already.
