pansophist: As for me, I am fine with my GT mastercard. I get money sent to me from Nigeria directly to my account and I withdraw from abroad anywhere I find an ATM machine. I can withdraw in weekends anywhere and anytime and no sending fee from the sender, only 420naira withdrawal charge. I can also travel to another country and withdraw there unlike western union where I have to collect in the destination country.

GT mastercard is still the best if you know whats up
you sure its N420 withdrawal charge?.
I here the average withdrawal charge abroad is N1,000 plus.
can I get someone in naija to open the GT account and send me the MasterCard?... cuz UBA don finish me here o.

God bless me cos i was the one who asked western union on their facebook page to do something so that Nigerians can use their service to make payment abroad. I was informed that the inability send money out of Nigeria was taken by Nigerian govt and not western union.

I then asked them that if Nigerian govt could allow Nigerians to send out funds with paypal even though we can't receive payment with paypal, why won't they allow us use western union?

I adviced them to renegotiate the issue with the govt and promised to do so.

Today am very happy reading this on nairaland within 45 days after they promised to review their service in Nigeria.

Here is a link to proof my claim as u can read where western union thanked me

Bitcoin: Western union and other remittance companies make about $550 Billion every year in revenues helping people transfer money. With bitcoin you can send money instantly without any withdrawal limitations, no government oversight and it is absolutely free. I'm still looking for folks who are interested in setting up a Bitcoin remittance business in Nigeria, we can charge 25-50% of the competition and still turn a profit.
its a good business venture ,sometimes all this cryptocurrency, one has to trade carefully.

Are you sure you know what you are writing?

Before you can receive or send payments i guess you must have a bank account with the bank you are transacting with so no room for fraud man.

Good news, no more going to Cotonou to send money to my brother. I have always wondered why the francophone countries can send money but anglo phones(Nigeria) cannot. Though I do not know the situation of other anglo phone country.
Re: CBN, Western Union Launch Foreign Remittance Service by greggng: 4:47pm On Aug 18, 2014
What a useless policy aimed at institutionalising money laundary. How can you say that one doesnot need bank account to transfer money. How can you track a single individual who wants to launder fund outside? He can aswell give money to so many trusted individuals to help him send to different related family menbers who will in turn help him deposit into safe accounts abroad. This system will be abused. How about 419 guys that requires only the senders name and control number to steal ur hard earned fund in unitedkingdom. Is a good idea but it will be abused

I guess your referring to nigeria's WU method! Cause abroad you don't need a bank nor any account! You just need an ID at most ,then you pop into a participating convenience store and collect or send money!

It's 1000 but it was changed to 420. You need to be in naija to open an account or better if your brother/sister or a trusted person can open with his/her name and send you the ATM. You csn operate the account like it's yours
