Hello house,

I just noticed that there are some other mutual funds performing far better than money market funds, some of the funds have done 25% YTD,
especially the ones that there asset class include equity, real estate etc.

who else has noticed this noticed this.
You must be talking about the Fixed income funds, the true question is how safe are the funds in that portfolio

Not even fixed income funds,

Am talking of balanced funds, that's funds that have equities, real estate and fixed income, all in one.
the risk exposure of this funds are moderate compared to pure equity based funds.

Arm discovery funds 28.50%
Investment-one Vantage Balanced Funds 24.58%
Stanbic ibtc balanced fund 18.53%

They have being here for a while just people prefer safety yet they want the best rate,
to me I see nothing bad is splitting your portfolio to reflect your risk level,
put a part into these funds and get decent return on the average with minimum risk exposure.

If the @bolded can guaranty capital recovery, it will be a very interesting proposition.

Well the fact that part of the funds is invested into equity means nothing is guaranteed.
But I believe over time the outperform money market funds.

Fund managers can't guarantee you anything because it's a balanced funds.

Mup4life:

This funds are all regulated by SEC, but like I said earlier the presence of stock means nothing is guaranteed but however they are more stable than equity based funds.

I have something small in one of this balanced funds and I was surprised when it made 30% in 2015 that was when became more interested in them.

The fund mgrs in this country are born thieves.
Take for instance ,investments in Arm discovery and Aggressive growth funds since 2007 has been static.
Compare with domiciliary term deposit investment.
If you have invested N50,000 at $ rate of N155/$ in 2011
Ur N50,000 will be worth N117741 at today rate of N365
Similarly An equity investment in GT bank will worth over N120000, bonuses, dividends not included.
Take a better risk, invest in forex and tested equities.
The fund managers are full of deceptions.
Investment of N100k in mutual funds since 2007 has not produced a significant profit.
The best of them could only yield N130k after 10 year.
I have tried all.
$10000 bought in 2014 DEC @N1,750,000 is now N3,650,000.
No mutual fund can match that.
15 year investment in mutual funds is nothing but a fallacy of composition.
If u want a good mutual fund, try offshore investment firms in UK,US,
The managers there are more truthful compare with the dishonest men in dz nation that only specialised in enriching themselves and the companies that appointed them with our funds

I Stan to be corrected.
ARM mutual funds will ruin your capital.
U w wake up and see your capital depreciating daily.
2 weeks period of marginal appreciation is soon followed by 14month of capital depreciation.
Open your eyes.
Emeka okolo dt manages one of their funds is a pen robber.
Ur capital is depreciated by 20% with 0.1% bearish trades on the NSE
It appreciate 0.1% with 95% bullish trade on the NSE
Why not trade on NSE with a good security firm like Morgan capital and make profit ?
You can also trade in TB and bonds
If you need to build up savings MMF with fbn quest or stanbic IBTC assets mgt wil be a good idea.
Once your saving is built up,invest in NTB
Reinvest and diversify into real estate .
With good financial intelligence ,knowledge and spiritualism, you wil exit the RAT RACE called poverty.
Read inspirational books for free on
www.pdfdrive.net
for free.
Search for Robert kiyosaki and other smart authors
U are out of the rat race.

FBN quest has poor customer service. I withdrew all my funds and asked them to close my account out of anger. I just hope things have changed now.

I need your advice: I recently got to know about these safe investments and I'm excited at what can become of them if you add to them regularly and then use the power of compound interest. Here is my question : I have a new born that is not yet a year old. I would like to start him up on one of these investments, TB, Mutual funds or bonds. Which one should I go for?

Hello guys.. please how good is this Stanbic IBTC mutual funds, I have done some research and the results are quite encouraging, planning to test the waters with a 30days investment of 500k. Any advise or contrary view will be highly appreciated.
if thats how long you can afford to save the fund without need for it;

do it.. You can withdraw in 35days time

(remember the rates are per year).
