Doctrines Of Devils
by John D. Morris, Ph.D.

"Now the spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils" (I Timothy 4:1).

In chapter one of his first epistle to Timothy, Paul warned about false teachers and heresies in the church of his day, evidently particularly implicating the agnostics and their false skepticism and low moral standards. In our text for today and throughout chapter four, he warns of false teachers "in the latter times," i.e., in our day and in our churches.

Paul had received an explicit (i.e., "express"wink teaching from the Holy Spirit. There was nothing vague about it. The false teachers would, among other things, be "forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats" (v.3), with other false teachings implied throughout the chapter. What does this teach us about those who today forbid their leaders, both men and women, to marry? Or those who insist upon certain dietary regimes for spiritual reasons?

These "doctrines" will cause some to "depart from the faith." Evidently, some who consider themselves Christians yet have incomplete discernment, will fall into the trap of "seducing spirits," espousing the "doctrines of devils." The Greek word translated "depart" is apostesontai which means "to fall away" from an original position, in this case, "the faith." The teachers will typically be hypocrites, "speaking lies," having "their conscience seared" (v.2). "If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed" (Galatians 1:9).

In this time of great apostasy, we desperately need to know the Biblical doctrine concerning devils (or Satan and his demonic henchmen), for their influence has nearly captured American education and culture. But we must be on guard against, and teach others to be on guard against, "doctrines of devils." JDM

March 17 Acts 16v33

Acts 16:33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.

Obedience is the very best way to show that you believe.Today, believers are fast losing obedience. The ability to just obey, to trust and obey knowing that there is no other way. That's the christian's behaviour. Many today will only obey,if at all, after much persuasion. Many more need bible gymnastics, books and concordance research, forums and intellectual debates before they can say okay,I'll do it.
The man in our text (the Phillipian jailor) received Christ. He took Paul and Silas the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. The Love of God was reigning in him.He wasn't calculating or rationalizing if he would lose his job or if his boss will be happy. What mattered was that God was happy with what he did.And then,he was baptized,he and all his straightway.Straightway,Immediately! He didn't need to be almost forced and threatened before he submitted for water baptism. He did not need sermons and classes before he could make up his mind.He just obeyed.O for a heart like his,a new heart, the mind of Christ.

March 19 Psalm 19:8

Psalms 19:8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

When you become a real child of God,I say real because like in the market, there are many false, fake 'childs' of God.When you become a real, genuine child of God, the love of God is shed abroad in yourheart. It is the love that makes you to love God and all of His.To love His ways,His Word,His wisdom and decision,in the Bible and in life.It is the love that makes you love others as yourself.
When this Love comes,it makes your yoke easy and the commandment of God not grievous. It was that love that was reigning in the Psalmist.Although he wasn't living in the period of grace, the law of God was not grievous to him.He didn't feel under bondage,or suffering or under any weight or curse of the law.The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart. That is the love of God.Many times,if you do not have this love, you will reason away the Word, instruction, command, statute of God because you think it is not right. The statutes are right. It inconveniences you?,then you need the love of God shed on you.The commandment of the LORD is pure.If we could put that statement on top, and we under(below/into subjecton). The commandment is pure, the law is holy and I impure.,then we will be changed into the likeness of that law, holy and pure for God is holy.

March 22 Psalms 21v1-3

Psalms 21:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!
Psa 21:2 Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withheld the request of his lips. Selah.
Psa 21:3 For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head.

It pays to serve Jesus. To be a partaker of the divine nature.I urge you,if you're not right with God,please repent now and become right with Him.There is LIFE and joy in belonging to God.Today's passage is making reference to the Messiah, the King of kings. We Christians have been made to sit in heavenly places with Christ Jesus. We are joint heirs with Him.We can rejoice greatly. We can joy in the strenght of Jehovah. That is omnipotent strength and ability. We can have our heart's desire and the request of our lips.As a child of God,your request can and will be answered.Because, we are kings with the King of kings. We trust in God.We joy in God's strength.God wants to embarass you with blessings of goodness. You are going on the way,and He meets you and says "You're not going anywhere until you accept blessings of goodness". Praise God! I love you Lord.

May 1 Galatians 1:4

4.Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

This Today's passage is ours.It is talking about us. Notice the words 'our' and 'us' in the verse. It is personal. It is not just for them but for US.It is for our life application.Jesus gave himself for OUR sins. Some people think that He only died for saints, others think he gave himself only for sinners, many think he gave himself only for the Jews or for the white man but thank God,He gave Himself for us,OUR sins. He suffered,he paid,he died that he might deliver us. .
You know, you should let the purpose of Jesus' first coming be fulfilled in you. He GAVE,that he might deliver US ,not just them but US.Not only venerated saints like St. Paul but US. He gave himself, that he might deliver US from THIS present evil world. Are you delivered from this PRESENT world,or you're entangled, not even knowing the difference between the world and US? Delivered from this world's decrees, desires, dressing, delights and dangers Or blinded(not seeing) by the god of this world. Deliverance from this world is the will of God,OUR Father. We need deliverance from this world.Deliverance is available through Jesus. Ask and you will receive.

16.And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.
Praise God. As much as many people try to alienate a building of worship from being called a church,God holds each of these buildings as special. Jesus says it is My Father's house. Whatever grammar you want to use in describing a building of worship, always remember,it is God's house. God's house should be given a level of respect, regard and reserve. Its not just like anywhere else. There're some things that cannot be done in it.
We may claim liberty but we're not liberated to misbehave. It's a hard truth, but God's house is different from other places. Jesus was talking to them that sold doves. They were not selling guns or anything we can call 'bad'. They were not even selling unclean birds. They were selling doves,a clean gentle 'holy' type of bird with no gall. They were not selling it for food but for sacrifice.Think about that. Why would Jesus chase this kind of people out?But He did.The ways of God are different from ours. Today, many things have crept into our churches that need to be taken out.Take these things hence .these things may not look harmful. They may even appear to aid our 'worship'.If they're not in the divine blueprint, lets take them out. If you would listen and be ready to obey, the Spirit of God will reveal what needs to be taken out of His house i.e your church or even your body.Others may look and say 'what's there?' They may even say where does the Bible say thou shall not use. Take away anything not consistent with God's way and will.Offer a reasonable service from now on.

May 3 Proverbs3:7
7.Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

The book of Proverbs is packed. You should always find time to study it.Each verse is loaded with everlasting gems. Consider Today's text,it tells us 3 beautiful life lessons.Lets see them one by one.
1. Be not wise in thine own eyes: You need to check up.How wise are you? Everybody will carry 1st in his own eyes until they all come together to write the same exam.Every team is a good and happy team until it faces other teams.Be not wise in your own eyes.Compare yourself with God's standards for man. Are you foolish in God's eyes or wise?Check up and begin to press toward the mark, the pass mark, the mark of God's call to you.
2. Fear the Lord: This is the beginning of true wisdom. You know, its foolish to say that this is just for old covenant.Check up Hebrews12v28. Fear the Lord, respect Him,rever and honour Him.Regard that He is always present and that He sees all your acts. Fear the Lord above all;parent, lecturer, teacher, pastor, police, friend, devil, death, sickness and loss.
3. Depart from evil: This is definite action. It is deliberate.Go away from, run away from ,depart from evil. Evil is all around us,make a go to depart from evil, abstain, quit giving excuses, be proactive, depart. You have your part to play, depart, refrain, cease to do evil.

May 5 Psalm5v12
12.For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favor wilt thou compass him as with a shield.

Hello,it is joyful to recall this will of God.The Lord WILL bless the righteous. The Lord WILL compass him with favour as with a shield. How I pray that God's will be done in your life as it is done in heaven. The Lord wants to bless the righteous.
Are you righteous? I've heard some people express the desire to go to heaven, and even claim to be born again but deny righteousness.Their idea is that nobody is holy, nobody is righteous. But think of it,as far back as old testament Davidic times, there were some righteous people, not to talk about now when the Lord Jesus has come and suffered without the gate, and declared that 'it is finished', and rent the veil of the temple into two. Believe, and you can be righteous.its not hard! The righteous is characterized by Repentance,Integrity,Godliness,Humility,Tender heart,Endurance,Obedience,Undying love, and Self denial. And the Lord wilt bless the righteous. And surround compass him with favour. Receive that protective favour from God in Jesus' name.

May 6 Galatians 6:9,10

9. And let us not be weary in welldoing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
10. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

The world is so against God that one would naturally and effortlessly slip down the broadway to hell if you do nothing at all.As we have seen some people actually jogging down towards hell and destruction,we should make effort to move up on the highway of holiness towards our home heaven. Doing good/well takes effort.Lets not be tired. Let us not faint. There're many reasons to faint, circumstances around discourage us from doing good/well. Even some 'good intentioned' people advice us not to do good. They say "Hey,nobody wants your good". But and let us not be weary in well doing. As we have opportunity, let us DO GOOD to ALL men . Let us do good irrespective of what others do.
They may applaud us,they may despise us, let us do good to ALL men, especially to believers. Believers are our brethren, they are priority, do them good. It is good to give,do not get discouraged to give. Let us do good even when evil comes. That is evidence of grace. Let us do good unto all men.

May 7 Matthew 7:23

23. And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me,ye that work iniquity.

Many times you hear ideas that suggest that God has changed. They say the God of the old testament is a totally different person from the God of the new testament.Infact, some are more stately about this idea, they say God kind of metamorphosed from Genesis down into the new testament, but the Word of God assures us that God is the one who was,and is, and is to come, the SAME yesterday, today and forever. He hates evil,he hates sin,He shows mercy,He pardons the repentant.Dishonest and insincere people are abominable before Him,whether its in Leviticus,or Chronicles,or Joel,Luke,or Hebrews,or Revelation. The time is coming when God will tell many 'I NEVER knew you'. Think about that. NEVER.
All this while you thought you were saved, yet He NEVER knew you.NEVER for once wrote down your name in His book. Maybe somebody or something told you or suggested to you that you were saved but He NEVER felt that way, He NEVER for once knew you as His own. And you kept on speaking and confessing and praying and doing many things that you felt were wonderful. How could you be so wrong? Don't be among this many that Christ NEVER knew.
Many check up with their church to be sure that they are safe/saved, many check up with their pastor,or reverend, many check up with information on the net, many in the schools, many with their friends, many with themselves. And these things tell us we're alright. Many NEVER check up in God's earth book(the Bible) to know if they're really safe/saved.No wonder He NEVER knew them, they worked iniquity. Daniel 11v32 Isaiah 8v20 Acts 17v11.

May 8 Proverbs8v8

8. All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.

Here in Proverbs 8,we have wisdom crying to men to understand and imbibe wisdom. Then wisdom begins to describe its qualities. In other words, these are the qualities that people who claim to be wise should possess.
Jesus Christ taught about the wise and foolish virgins. All the virgins went to meet the bridegroom, indicating to us that they were all waiting to meet the Lord. i.e they were all believers, all christians, children of God. But some were wise and some were foolish.I pray that you'll be wise. What really made the wise virgins wise,What qualified them? What did they have that the foolish virgins didn't have. ALL the words of my mouth are in righteousness. ALL. You'll know a wise believer from his words. The mouth speaks from the heart. James said if a man offend not in word, the same is complete/perfect.That's the kind of bride/virgin that Jesus is coming for.glo glorious, complete,no spot or wrinkle or ANY SUCH THING. All the words of my mouth are IN RIGHTEOUSNESS. For emphasis, there is NOTHING FROWARD OR PERVERSE in them. That is wisdom, the principal thing, the oil we must get so that our lamps do not go out.

May 9 Proverbs 9:10

10. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, the start of wisdom. The knowledge of the holy is understanding. Are you wise? Do you fear God?if you do not fear God,then you're not wise. The fear of God is the starting point, the beginning of being wise. Hebrews 12 says we should have grace so that we can serve God with godly fear.
The grace of God brings the fear of God.If you do not fear God,then you do not have grace,at least not the grace of God. If you do not fear God,then you're foolish. The fear of God is a reverence and respect of God,knowing that we are at His mercies and behaving ourselves to always please Him. To be wise unto salvation, you need to fear God. You need to know God to understand Him.The knowledge of the holy is understandin. Know the Lord by daily communion with Him in His Word(the Bible) and in prayer and also by fellowship with the brethren. Then you'll understand. Fear God and keep His commandments, this is the whole duty of man.

May 10 Acts 10v2

2. A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always.

The test results are not as important as the cut off mark. Have you ever heard that? Well, its true. Take for instance,in a final examination someone scored 49 out of 100,while his friends scored 70 and 92.He was initially sad until he heard that the pass mark/cut-off mark for the exams was 40.So they all passed and graduated together. His sorrow gave way to joy. In another instance, out of 400,someone scored 230 while his friend scored 190. The celebrations of Mr.230 were cut short when he heard that the cutoff/entry/pass mark was 250. Thats why whatever our scores may be in life today, lets also find out the cut-off mark.
The centurion in our text obviously had a high score as the passage shows; A devout man(having a strong belief in religion), one that feared God think about that, and not only him, but with all his house, which gave MUCH alms to the people. This is a good man.He seems better than many people around us. and he prayed always.Note that it says to God.He prayed to God always. You know its almost enough to pray to anything/god always. That's pious, thats devoted, yet this man prayed TO GOD always. I believe this is an outstanding CV for a child, man, son, friend of God. BUT he was still below the cut-off mark.Peter was to tell him what he was really supposed to do.First things first. A first class CGPA in the final year of an higher institution with a fake O'level result is below cut-off.settle the O'level first. Are you above the cut off mark? What do you know to be the cut-off mark?

May 11 Proverbs 11v17

17. The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.

The endpoint is the end result. The final destination. Its like the most important part of it all.Infact,if there's no endpoint, the project is all void, vanity. The end-point is the goal. Many smart people try to get the end-point on time.End-point leads us and gives us some form of direction. Today's passage is an endpoint. The final result for the merciful and the cruel. The merciful is the godly while the cruel is the satanic. Each human falls into one of the two categories. Which one are you?Merciful or cruel?Godly or satanic? The end-point is revealed. If you're godly,it's for yourself. If you're cruel,it's for yourself.
You know, some people are deliberately wicked and stubborn and cruel. They say "I'll show him." They think they're hurting their neighbour, parent, preacher. The cruel/foolish/ungodly is troubling himself. Sometimes, evangelism is going on and someone is saying/thinking 'they want me to change my church'. It is for yourself.Make the right decisions today. Its all for you. You. No one else.

1. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

The Holy Ghost, speaking through Paul the Apostle is Today begging us. He is pleading with the brethren, the christians. He is asking by the mercies of God.Is it not serious and sobering that the Lord is begging us in the name of God? It's like when you plead in pidgin and say 'I take God beg you'. I beseech you, brethren by God's mercies! What could God be begging for? What is the Spirit beseeching you for?
That you present your bodies. The believers' body is the temple of God.We should all know and accept that. You are not your own. Many christians do not present their bodies to God,except maybe when they're sick. Their thought is that God looks and cares only about the inside, the spirit. They believe that they can do anything as they please with their bodies. But God is begging you today, present your body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God.This is your reasonable service. It suggests then that a service or life that only presents the spirit to God is unreasonable. Present your bodies to God.You're bought with the precious price of Christ's blood.God cares about that body.

May 13 Psalm 13:6

6. I will sing unto the Lord, because He hath dealt bountifully with me.

God wants you rejoicing always and our rejoicing should be in the Lord. It's not the sinners' joy but the saints' joy in the Lord. He wants us rejoicing even when things aren't what we expect.
Many times, people have being led to believe that the christian's life is all a bed of roses. Unfortunately, its not. God has not said that we will not pass through the fires or the waters, but if we believe, He has guaranteed us of His presence. That's why we should rejoice always and evermore.
And you know, when you have this attitude of rejoicing always, you get to sing more often because God has done and will do something good. He puts testimonies in your mouth. He deals kindly, bountifully with you.
We're to praise God and sing unto the Lord at such a time. I don't think it's a time to throw a party, blasting all those 'strange music of babylon'. It's a time to sing unto the Lord . Let us testify of God's goodness.

May 14 Proverbs 14v21

21. He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.

Here is the life of a christian displayed in the wisdom of God. Here are two (2) characteristics that immediately give you out. The characteristics of love and mercy.
These are God's attributes, not the devil's. Children of God are to be like God, having the attributes of love and mercy. Anyone who hates his/her neighbour is committing sin i.e is a sinner. Yes! Thats what Today's passage says. Whatever post you might think you hold in the kingdom of God, if you hate ANYBODY, you're committing sin. Whosoever you hate, whether it's your in-law, your landlord, your coursemate/classmate, your leader(political, academic, spiritual etc), the person from another religion or denomination, your ex, your step- , he that despises his neighbour sinneth .
Then he that shows mercy on the poor is blessed. There's usually something you have that others around you do not have. Its not always automatically money. If you have money or the things money can buy, show mercy to those who don't have it. If you have God's love, show it to those who don't have it. If you have God's life (the gospel), show it to the poor around you who do not have the gospel preached to them. They might be financially rich but spiritually poor. You have happiness, a smile, food, cloth, whatever you're rich in, have mercy on the poor, and you'll be blessed.

May 15 Psalm15 v 1

1. Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?

Today's passage is a sobering and intelligent question to ask, don't you think? King David was an intelligent person. He was special. Many know so little about David. Some just know David killed Goliath. Some can add that he fled from Saul, and danced, that's all. But King David was special, the only king who was also a prophet apart from our Lord Jesus Christ of course. Now that's special.
David looked ahead. He saw that there were criteria for abiding in God's tabernacle and holy hill. He saw that it wasn't just for everybody. He wanted to know if he could be there! And its good to know if you'll be there. He got the answers from God.
From the answers, you'll see that Heaven is not for everybody. It's a special place prepared for special people. The good news is, we can all be part of this special people. All you need to do is;
- Ask for what it takes from God, and from His Word, and from HOLY men of God.
- Seek to be there, look for it, buy it and don't sell.
- Knock UNTIL it is opened, don't give in to excuses and opposing doctrine that say 'you can't be there'.
Heaven can be yours also.

May 17 Proverbs 17v26

26. Also to punish the just is not good, nor to strike princes for equity.

Life is class and class is life. It is difference that gives life colour. Everything in life is classed: we have living and non-living things. The classes are further divided into sub-class.
Stones have class, all stones are not the same. Plants have class, animals have class, and human beings have class. Thats the way the Universe is. The beauty for us is that, only humans have shown the ABILITY to choose or leave their classes for another. Some reactively complain of their class or even of being classed. More proactive people work towards a better class.
Believers need to realise that all humans are classed, even by God! You could choose to leave your class anyway i.e backslide or repent. Some people are classed as JUST . Contrary to the popular rattling, everybody is not a sinner. Some people are princes. Royal blood. You don't treat them the same way as others for equity (for the case of being equal or 'fair').
Members of the body of Christ are special and should be regarded as privileged people, wherever you might meet them. There's was high price paid for the grace in them. To punish the just is not good, nor to strike princes for equity. Pure wisdom.

10. The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

Our passage says the name of the Lord is a strong tower. It is a place of refuge. It is the secret place of the Most High. It is a good thing to know the name of the Lord and to think upon His name. It opens doors. It brings blessings. It is written in God's book of remembrance.
The name of the Lord is powerful. The righteous runs into it, and is safe. You know today, some strange 'christians' say "I know I'm not righteous, I'm not holy, I'm just trying my best". Well, such people cannot run into the name of the Lord and be lifted up. It is righteousness that qualifies you for safety. There is safety in the name of God, there is the extra that makes you different from the ordinary. There is the 'super' that sets you apart from the 'natural'. Get righteousness and RUN to the name of the Lord today.

11. And God wrought special miracles by the hand of Paul:
12. So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.

A gracious day to you today. The power of God is real. Come, taste, see that the Lord is good. Come is first. Come believing, thats what results in seeing that the Lord is good.
The God who was, and is and is to come is the God who wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul. He is performing special miracles Today! Right now. Are you sick or you know anyone who is sick today. It is a gracious day. Healing is brought to the sick now. Take the Word to them. Take the living Word to them. Special miracles for the sick Today. Diseases and evil spirits depart in Jesus' name. Praise the Lord.

23. For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.

Are you a christian? Are you a child of God? God your Father, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ is strong and mighty. You know its like a child who has a Doctor for/as a Father. He calls him father, dad, but when he goes to see him at work, he hears Dr, Doctor, Doctor. Even some neighbours call him Dr. You can see his work.
There's a song that says that the Father is known under the earth as the man of war. The God and prince of peace is an expert in war, the man of war, mighty in battle. Glory to God. He's got different tactics against your enemies. He says he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of God's eye. Now, that's rough play. And it will stop, because the children of Ammon and Moab will stand up against Mount Seir to totally destroy them on your behalf. And if they do not learn from that, if they do not LEARN from that, they'll help to destroy one another. The battle is the Lord's. Who can battle with the Lord? Child of God, you're more than conquerors already.

16. And from thence they went to Beer: that is the well whereof the Lord spake unto Moses, Gather the people together, and I will give them water.

Herein lies another important lesson that we must continue to remember as believers. The gathering of believers is always beautiful. God does marvelous things in believers' fellowship. The new testament enjoins us not to forsake assembling.
If you've never heard this before, please listen. There are some things you'll NEVER receive from God outside the gathering/church/fellowship/assembly. It may differ from person to person but there're requests that you make to God, whose answers are only receivable in church. Don't forsake it. Its for your own good, not pastor's. The Lord spake unto Moses, Gather the people together, AND I WILL give them water. Learn to gather together with God's people more often and regularly, and God will Give.
Its a call from God to His appointed leader Moses, not to a self appointed leader. Trust and obey, for there is NO OTHER WAY to be happy IN Jesus.

May 22 2Samuel 22v33

33. God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.

They call this chapter David's song of deliverance, and you can see why right from verse 1. King David lived an enviable life. A favoured life. Remember when prophet Samuel came to David's family house and the father Jesse presented all his brothers. Absent David was more favoured ahead of his present and quality brothers.
David was a man after God's heart. A bold man and very successful in all that he put his hand to. What was his secret? God. Nothing else but God. David put his trust, hope, belief and confidence in God, thats why he prospered.
Although he had many qualifications, but God was the centre and the surround of it all, the alpha and omega.
He said God is my strength and power. No wonder he was so successful in all battles of life. He said he makes my way PERFECT. Little wonder he was a man after God's heart. Be ye perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect. David allowed God to do it. He didn't see it as impossible or ridiculous to live a righteous life. God maketh my way perfect. Put God in charge today. Make Him truly Lord, then He can make your way PERFECT. Believe and trust Him.

May 24 Proverbs 24:10

10. If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.

People tend to think that one (man) must fall when challenges come. But that's not the way with God. Even when things look bleak, 'cause they sometimes do, we've to rejoice evermore or is it exceedingly? We're to be strong in weakness, we're to against hope believe in hope.
You'll have thought that there's no better time to faint than in the day of adversity. But God's Word says that 'if you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small'!
If you give up or give in when trouble comes, your strength is small. The possessor of the divine life never faints! Have you not heard or known that God does not faint, and for this cause we faint not? Keep on standing, whatever the situation. You've got the power of God in you.
