Air Peace berths with 7 planes worth N45 billion

Barrister Allen Onyema has proven that the future is bright for those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. That’s why a lawyer with no experience in aviation has launched an airline worth over N45 billion with seven aircraft that exudes class, comfort, safety and ingenuity known as Air Peace.

With delectable and amiable cabin crew on parade, Air Peace, Nigeria’s latest airline, was launched on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, inside the Domestic Airport at Ikeja in Lagos State with seven aircraft and a promise to provide comfortable and safe flights to Nigerians. It was unveiled amidst quality dignitaries.

ENCOMIUM Weekly’s check revealed that the fleet included three Dornier 328 jet and four Boeing 737-500 SP. Checks by us revealed that a Dornier 328 jet is $12.5million. Thus, three of those expensive toys will gulp about N6.1 billion. Also, a unit cost of a Boeing 737 is $59.4million. Consequently, four of that is N38.7 billion.


In a chat with ENCOMIUM Weekly on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, Barrister Allen Onyema, Air Peace Chairman and CEO said, “The airline would also lay the foundation for the enthronement of peace, development of the aviation sector and would end the level of animosity amongst operators.



































“The era of devilish competition and envy in the aviation industry in Nigeria should remain in the past.”

He said with seven aircraft all named after his family members, the airline has gone a step further in ensuring safety by contracting one of the world’s best maintenance organisations, BT Aviation Maintenance Company in the United Kingdom.

“To ensure that nothing is left to chance, we have also equally signed a Powered By Hour (PHB) contract with the world’s biggest PHB vendors, AJ Walter of United Kingdom for supply of aircraft spares,” Onyema said.


He said Air Peace has also signed a five year contract with Canada’s Flyth Solutions incorporated for the installation of Automated Flight Information Reporting System (AFIRS) on all his aircraft for flight tracking and engine trend monitoring.

“This system has already been installed to all our aircraft,” Onyema said.

In addition, the airline has also contracted Flight Scape Inc of Canada in partnership with IATA for effective flight data analysis.

His main objective is to create jobs for Nigerians and not just to make money for himself. And that’s why he started with a staff strength of 250.

For now, Air Peace would fly to Abuja, Lagos, Enugu, Port Harcourt and Owerri. The inaugural flight took off from Lagos on Friday, October 24, 2014, to Abuja.

Interestingly, he claimed all military personnel would only pay N10,000 on all flights.

Bikonu umunne m, does anyone here know anywhere in Anambra that I can buy snails of this size? I know of a place in Ohaji/Egbema in Imo close to Elele, but I want to know if there's a place like that in Anambra. I'll appreciate any little help, thanks!

The below pictures are that of Amawbia flyover. One of the three flyovers started by Gov Obiano, few months into his administration, at Awka and Amawbia aegis of the Enugu Onitsha expressway. The project tagged elephant projects by few of the governor's ill constituted critics, who claimed that the projects can never see the light of the day. The flyover is today at 90% completion. This very one and that of Aroma junction are due for asphalts soon.

Gov Willie Obiano is really working, he keeps on proving his critics wrong. Going by the events of the past week, Obiano has proven to be the most performing Governor in the present day Nigeria and will do more when we give him our supports by way of prayers and constructive criticism.

This is one area the govt revenue comes from!. for instance, Main Market & its surroundings have over 100 hundred thousand shops & warehouses, if we go by the tax imposed by the last govt which was 3thousand Naira per shop x100hundred thousand shops=300million Naira going to the govt coffers!.

Dora Akunyili Centre to gulp N500m

Awka—THE Anambra State government has said it would improve facilities at the redesigned Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Center in Awka with N500 million.


The project, which is to be completed in nine months will have an expanded amphitheatre, a football pitch with carpet grass and a parking space that will accommodate about 2,000 cars.
The state Commissioner for Housing, Mr. Frank Offor said the plan became necessary because the old Awka stadium near Awka Main Market has traffic issues, adding that the Dora Akunyili Centre would serve the needs of women in particular.
He said: “The concept of a stadium and amphitheatre in re-designed Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre is because it is in a strategic location on Enugu –Onitsha Expressway and it occupies a spacious area where one can park cars.
“It also has a conference hall and a guest house, though some buildings may be removed to make way for the new design.
“Women will love the center because they can use it to do so many things. The Amphitheatre existing there now has been redesigned to have a standard football pitch with carpet grass and can host other things for many occasions because it has galleries.
“By the time the proposal is begun, the youth will be happy because it will offer a lot of jobs to them.”
Offor also said that in addition to the Dora Akunyili Center, the state government was working on two other stadia in Awka namely, the old stadium located on
Arthur Eze Avenue and a new stadium on the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, near Amansea in Awka North local government.
He also spoke on the Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, recently signed by the state government with Affordable Building Concepts International Limited, an Irish company, which is valued at N95.2 billion, adding that under the agreement, the company will deliver 10,000 housing units every year.
Most of the housing programmes, he said, would be executed under the Private Public Participation (PPP).
