Highly unlikely................. but not impossible.

Game's in march next year. I have a hunch that the pharoahs will encounter a much improved and formidable Super Eagles by then. They would almost certainly not face the same team that survived the tanzanian scare.

safarigirl:
maybe CIV will scale through, but not the eagles. They'll have to win Egypt home and away which is highly unlikely

safarigirl:
Senegal deserved to win that game, they were the better side. Anyway, looking forward to the game against our perennial rivals, Ghana, that should make for good football. Meanwhile, CIV just might be hit with the Curse of the AFCON Champions and I don't think Nigeria will qualify either.

Nops. Just 2 points separating Nigeria from Egypt. We snatch 4pts from both legs against Egypt(eg a draw in Egypt and a win in Nigeria) and we are cruising home and dry. It is still very much in our hands. CIV too will qualify.

Hosts Congo off to winning start at All-Africa Games

Congo striker Kader Bidimbou
by Stephane DeSaintsalvy
2015 All-Africa Games’ hosts Congo got their Group A campaign off to a winning start, with a 2-1 victory over Sudan in Brazzaville on Monday.
A first-half brace from AC Léopards’ striker Kader Bidimbou proved enough to hand the Red Devils all three points at the final whistle.
It took Bidimbou only 56 seconds of play to put his side ahead at Stade Alphonse Massamba-Debat, while defender Sagesse Babélé missed the opportunity to double their lead from the spot in the 15th minute.
However, Walaa Eldin Mohammed levelled matters for the visitors one minute later, to revive the Sudanese hopes.
But Kader Bidimbou had the last say with a 41st minute winner, following brilliant passing from Moïse Nkounkou.
The Red Devils will be back in action against Burkina Faso on Thursday, with the Stallions having enjoyed a 1-0 victory over Zimbabwe at the same time.

by Stephane DeSaintsalvy
Zimbabwe and Burkina Faso will face each other in Brazzaville this Monday, in their Group A opener of the 2015 All Africa Games (Kick-off at15h00CAT).
The 11th edition of the continental tournament marks the first appearance of the Stallions since their maiden showing in 1973, while Zimbabwe are making their third appearance after having sealed a fourth-place finish in Cairo in 1991 and claimed Silver on home soil four years later.
Burkina Faso booked their place at the competition after getting past neighbours Côte d’Ivoire 2-1 on aggregate in the final qualifying round, with Zimbabwe seeing off Cameroon with the same score-line.
The two sides will be desperate to clinch maximum points, as they will still have to battle Sudan and hosts Congo for a spot in the last four.

Hope Akpan is back for injury in time for Sunday's visit to Fulham
Nigeria midfielder Hope Akpan has returned to fitness as he trained with his club Blackburn Rovers ahead of Sunday’s game at Fulham.
Akpan missed the goalless draw with Bolton before the international break due to an ankle injury, but he trained with the team on Monday as they prepare for the clash with Fulham.
“I was upset about not being able to participate in the Bolton match, but that’s just part and parcel of the game,” Akpan said.
“I’ve been back training during the international break so I’m just trying to get back fully fit and be ready for selection against Fulham on Sunday.”
Akpan joined Blackburn Rovers from Reading this summer and debuted in a 1-1 draw at Huddersfield Town, showing good qualities on the pitch.
The Nigeria midfielder, however, promised his team will see more of him as the league goes on.
“I think I’ve done okay,” said the 24-year-old, whose final full season with Reading was disrupted by a serious shoulder injury sustained while on international duty.
“I wanted to try and hit the ground running and I feel I’ve done okay.
“I still feel there’s plenty more to come, I’ve still got a lot more to give, and hopefully the team can start getting the results that we need.”
He continued: “Us not getting a win has not been through a lack of commitment.
“All of the boys have been putting the effort in, we just need that little bit of luck and that little bit of composure in the final third at key moments.
“But if we keep getting in there, it’s bound to come, so you’ve just got to stick with us, and we’ll get that first win.
"They are a good side, they’ve got some good players, obviously Tom Cairney, who used to play here, but I think we can match them, and we can dominate them physically. Hopefully we can do that for 90 minutes and get the result.”
He has four caps for Nigeria.
He has played for Everton, Hull City and Crawley Town.

Nigeria/Ghana: AAG - Oghenekaro Talks Tough Ahead of Ghana Clash

Dream Team forward, Etebor Oghenekaro, has revealed that the Nigeria U-23 side are ready to battle the Black Meteors in their All African Games opening fixture.
The defending champions, Ghana will hope to beat the Samson Siasia's men after their barren draw against Senegal in their opening fixture.
Etebor admitted that the Black Meteors are a very strong side but insisted that they are tactically and psychologically ready to subdue their west African neighbours.
Coach Samson Siasia's team will kick start their campaign in the tournament against defending champions Ghana after their opening day opponents Egypt pulled out.
Both nations have met at this stage four times, with Nigeria claiming victories on two occasions, Ghana won once and they drew a game.
Their first meeting was an Olympic Games qualifier in July 2007 when Nigeria won 3-2.
The second meeting was the return leg in November 2007 which ended in goalless draw for Nigeria to book a place at Beijing 2008 Olympics.
They clashed again in the AAG in June 2011 which Nigeria won 3-1, while the last meeting was the return leg in July 2011 which Ghana won 2-0 to deny Nigeria qualification for 2011 AAG.
"We are fully prepared for the game, we are going for victory and by His grace, we will get the victory," said the Warri Wolves star.
"Ghana are always tough against Nigeria, we are not bothered as we are ready for them. I am calling on Nigerians to support and pray for us wholeheartedly, we won't disappoint them."
Nigeria, who won the AAG gold in 1973 as host, will be counting on an attack led by Junior Ajayi and Turkey-based Umar Aminu after the likes of Godwin Saviour were not released by their European clubs.

AAG: Glo charges Dream Team, Falcons to go for Victory

OFFICIAL sponsor of Nigerian National football teams, Globacom has advised the U-23 national team, ‘Dream team’ and the Super Falcons, to go for victory in their respective football engagements today at the on-going All African Games in Con- go Brazzaville.
The two teams will mount double assault they plot their way to reaching the finals to pick gold medals.
The Super Falcons will face Tanzania in the second Group A match, while the dream team will lock horns with Ghana in the opening match of group B as Nigerians looked for- ward to victory from the two national teams.
In a press statement in Lagos on Tuesday, Globacom called on both teams to go for outright victories to pave way for early qualification for the next round.
“The Dream Team’ coaching crew and players have prepared very hard for this competition and we expect them to do well while Super Falcons have the advantage of playing together for a long time,” the statement said ‎ “In addition, the remarkable history of Nigeria in the competition should propel the team to win Gold medals at the end of the tournament,”
Globacom stated further. The Super Falcons won football
gold twice, in the 2003 and 2007 editions of All African Games. The men team, however won the Gold medal in 1973 when Nigeria hosted the competition.
“At this level, any team can out- shine the other and we expect the coaching crew of ‘Dream team’ and the Super Falcons to be wary of the opposition,” the statement concluded, while urging Nigerians to give the teams hundred percent support.
Globacom had also commended the Super Falcons for defeating host Congo in their first match in the competition. The company urged the team who trashed the host, Diablesses Rouges of Congo by Five goals to one on Sunday in Congo, not to rest on their oars as they forge ahead in the tournament.

A West African rivalry in the Congo By: Andrew Randa

Nigeria’s eternal rivalry with Ghana will continue on Wednesday as the Meteors and the Dream Team take to the field in Brazzaville in the football event of the All Africa Games.
Ghana are the defending champions and will try to nick another off their neighbor and rival Nigeria, in what promises to be an entertaining game.
That’s a given considering when Nigeria and Ghana play at any level, it goes way beyond football as pride is always at stake with whoever who wins grabbing the bragging rights till the next encounter.
Coach Samson Siasia has taken an exciting band of youngsters to Congo as Nigeria tries to grab the gold medal of the football event. The Dream Team will look to make a strong statement after sitting out the first group game due to Egypt's withdrawal from the competition.
Ghana played out a goalless draw with Senegal in the first group game which gives Nigeria the opportunity to take top spot if they can beat Ghana as Senegal sits out match day two.
Nigeria and Ghana have met four times at this level with Nigeria winning two of those. Ghana has solitary win and a draw
Samson Siasia has been through this road before. In 2007, as coach of the U23 team, he led the likes of Kennedy Chinwo, Solomon Abwo, Chinedu Ogbuke and Efe Ambrose to edge out Ghana 3-2 on aggregate to qualify for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Ghana replete with stars like Michael Helegbe and Asamoah Gyan, couldn’t stop Nigeria’s march to the Beijing where the team eventually lost to a Lionel Messi inspired Argentina in the final at the ‘Bird’s Nest’ stadium.
Wednesday’s encounter will see two vibrant coaches go at it as Malik Jabir of the Black Meteors will be up against Samson Siasia.
Jabir will count on Bright Adjei, Richard Gadze and Kennedy Ashia to get maximum points over Nigeria who are missing up to four key players who are not in Congo due to injury and club commitments.
However coach Samson Siasia feels his team has enough in her arsenal to cope without the players who didn’t make the trip.
Nigeria was not able to replace the absentees and will have to make do with two players of the allowed numbers
““We have a team capable of winning the gold medal for Nigeria,” Siasia said.
“It’s true we are going to miss some players but we have enough to help us do the job, we promise to do our best.”
The former Super Eagles coach will count on Kinglsey Sokari, Mustapha Abdullahi, Azubuike Okechukwu and Christian Pyagbara as Nigeria chases the gold medal.
Ghana will definitely be a tough test and will give Siasia a clue to if his team can translate their war songs to victory on the pitch.
Nigeria team for the AAG
Goalkeepers: Emmanuel Daniel, Yusuf Mohammed, Jimoh Lucky Abdullahi
Defenders: Erhun Obanor, Segun Oduduwa, Mustapha Abdullahi, Sodiq Atanda, Seth Sincere, Semiu Laidi
Midfielders: Azubuike Okechukwu, Oghenekaro Etebo, Ndifreke Effiong, Kingsley Sokari, Shehu Abdullahi(absent)
Strikers: Godwin Saviour(absent), Junior Ajayi, Daniel Etor, Austin Oladepo, Umar Aminu, Christian Pyagbara

Roma splash 3 million Euros on Nigerian youngsters

It has been revealed that Italian Serie A side Roma are committed to splashing three million Euros on Nigerian youngsters Sadiq Umar and Nura Abdullahi.
Both players have signed for Roma on a year’s loan from modest Spezia and will sign permanent long-term deals should they impress thereafter.
Striker Sadiq Umar will cost Roma 1.7 million Euros, while fullback Abdullahi will cost 1.3 million Euros, according to a source familiar with this transaction.
Sadiq Umar, whose physique and style reminds one of Nwankwo Kanu, scored a record-breaking 26 goals in 27 games in the Italian youth league, while Abdullahi has shown great quality as a defender who loves to join up with the attack.
The players were farmed out to Europe by the Abuja Football College a year and half ago.

Nigeria U23 ace Stanley Amuzie has lost a lifetime chance to feature for Italian Serie A side Sampdoria after he suffered a major knee injury that will sideline him till next year.

He has since undergone surgery and AfricanFootball.com has been told he will be out for nine months.
Amuzie will now play for Portuguese second division side Olhanense, who also have another Nigerian, Femi Balogun.

Nigeria U23 star Umar Aminu
Nigeria defeated arch-rivals and All Africa Games champions Ghana 2-0 to book their place in the semi-finals of the football event of this year’s AAG.
Nigeria’s final Group B match against Senegal, who drew 0-0 with Ghana on the opening day, will determine the overall winners of the group following the last-minute withdrawal of Egypt.
Junior Ajayi opened scoring for the superior Nigerians in the 55thminute and Kingsley Sokari made the game safe three minutes from time.
Nigeria’s Dream Team VI dominated and were deserved winners.
Nigeria were on the front foot in the first half with Ghana goalkeeper Richard Ofori his team’s most outstanding player as a result.
A minute to half time, Oghenekaro Etebo was denied from point-blank range by Ofori when from Etor’s corner, the ball fell kindly to him a second time.
However, Nigeria finally made their dominance count 10 minutes after resumption when the dangerous Etor Daniel delivered a whipped-in ball from the right for Junior Ajayi to coolly slot home.
The second goal of the game was even more sublime – Kingsley Sokari combined with skipper Azubuike Ikechukwu on the edge of the Ghana box and Sokari continued his run before he lifedt the ball over the rushing Ofori for a superb finish.
Before this goal, Ghana were almost gifted a goal that would have brought them on level pegging when in the 69thminute Segun Oduduwa’s back pass exposed the Nigeria defence, but the Black Meteors could not cash in on such an opening.

Crystal Palace Vs Man City: Iheanacho ready for first start
• Hails the influence of Silva,Yaya, Aguero, Nasri

Nigerian youngster Kelechi Iheanacho is determined to break into the Manchester City starting XI following his cameo appearance as a late substitute against Watford just before the International break.
The 18-year old was a late minute substitute for Raheem Sterling who netted one of the goals as the Manuel Pellegrini side romped to a 2-0 win, maintaining their 100% start to the 2015/16 season.
Iheanacho, who shone in pre-season tour of Australia and Vietnam, was promoted to the first team this summer and the former Golden Ball winner at the 2013 U-17 FIFA World Cup is confident of doing well for the Citizens if given the opportunity.
“It’s been going great, I’ve been training with the first-team and the guys have been great with me and I’m really enjoying it,” Kelechi smiled as he responded to questions on Manchester City’s official website.
“It was a great feeling to make my debut against Watford. I was hoping to come on – the manager introduced me and I was very happy to come on.
“I’m hoping for more Premier League minutes – I have to work hard in training and then hopefully the manager will introduce me again so I can show what I can do.”
He went on to discuss his relationship with the big boys in the team and how it has benefitted him as a young lad.
“David Silva is a great player, a top player – high level with a lot of experience,” Iheanacho declared.
“He’s had an unbelievable start but that’s no surprise to anyone – we all know what a good player he is and it’s good for me as a striker to have someone like that in the team.
“I’m learning new things every day in training – it’s been a dream come true playing with these players.
“With Sergio, Yaya, David and Sami – it can only improve you as a player to play with these guys.”
Iheanacho has been listed by manager Manuel Pellegrini in the squad that will travel to Selhurst Park to face Chelsea conqueror’s Crystal Palace on Saturday.

2015 AAG: Siasia rues absence of Muhammed, Akas

Dream Team VI Chief Coach Samson Siasia is pained that he has only 18 players in camp instead of the 20 approved for the competition.
The Coach was not happy that he had to stress the players by playing some of them out of position in order to beat Ghana in the opening match since the players that supposed to play the match namely Usman Mohammed Nand Chima Akas were drafted to the Super Eagles team but did not even taste a minute action in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nation qualifier between hostTaifa Starsof Tanzania and visiting Super Eagles that ended in a goalless draw in Dar es Salaam last Saturday.
He has vowed to continue to charge the boys positively until they eventually win the competition. He recalled same incident that happened in 2004 in Cotonou, Republic of Benin when Mikel Obi and Bernard Okorowanta absconded from the Flying Eagles class of 2005 on the excuse that they went for trials in Manchester United and promise that they will rejoin the team in Cotonou but they never did. Siasia, however, led the 16 players that prosecuted the 2004 Africa Youth Championship instead of 18 then to win the competition.
Siasia, according to a close source in Congo Brazzaville venue of the ongoing All Africa Games, when he remembered this incident is encouraged to carry on in the task of emerging 2015 All Africa Games football tournament gold winner.
“Siasia is not happy that these players did not come for the completion here in Congo Brazzaville since they did not play any significant part in the Tanzania match although they were fully involved in a mere friendly match against the visiting Niger Republic which the Super Eagles won 2-0 on Tuesday.
“But he has vowed to psyche the remaining players up to deliver by winning the competition,” the source disclosed.
Siasia also commended his players for putting up a commendable performance against the All Africa Games defending Champion Ghana and specially hailed the contribution of Kingsley Sokari, Aminu Umar and Ndifreke Effiong in the match against Ghana which theDream Team VIwon 2-0 via goals from in-form striker Junior Ajayi in the 55th minute and Sokari in the 87th minute.
The Nigerian team’s Coach also believed that there was room for improvement and that his strikers could have scored more goals against the Ghanaians if they had played according to instructions. He also promised to continue to work hard on the team’s strikers so that they would be able to convert a meaningful percentage of the chances created in every match.

Maiden Eagles’ goal excites Simon

KAA Gent winger, Moses Simon, has spoken of his joy at scoring his first international goal and said he wants to score more for Nigeria whenever he is invited.
Simon, who came on in the second half, scored Nigeria’s second goal against Niger Republic as the Super Eagles ran out 2-0 winners on the day.
The friendly at the Adokiye Amasiemaka was Simon’s fourth cap for Nigeria and said he is delighted after scoring against the Nigeriens, supersport.com reports.
Simon hit home 17 goals in 38 games for Slovakian side AS Trecin which alerted several European teams who queued up to sign the 20-year-old.
“It’s a fantastic thing to score for Nigeria. Every striker who is a Nigerian dreams of playing and scoring for the Eagles and I’m no different,” he told supersport.com.
“I’ve waited for that moment all my life and I’m glad it happened. I was happy and over the moon that I didn’t even know how to celebrate the goal.
“I want to thank my teammates and Nigerian fans for their support so far. There is still more to come. I give God the glory,” he added.
Simon also spoke about his goal drought at his club side, insisting that his goal against Niger will signal the beginning of positives things to come this season.
“I want to keep scoring for club and country, that is my target this season,” Simon said.

Black Satellites of Ghana coach, Malik Alhaji Jabir, paid tribute to Nigeria’s U-23 team after the 2-0 defeat of his team in their group match on Wednesday.
Jabir admitted that the Samson Siasia’s boys were far better than his team and that the result justified a true picture of the game.
“We lost to a better side, yes, I must admit that fact,” Jabir told comple tesportsnigeria.com.
“Nigeria were better, they were better prepared than us and that is the result you get when you refuse to prepare for a competition like this.
“Look at their fitness, you saw their transition, it shows they are organised, technically.
“It’s good luck to them and I feel the game went the way it should go.”
The Ghanaian gaffer said his boys played within the limit of their strength and blamed it on late preparation for the All Africa Games.

Oliseh needs Siasia’s players to qualify for Nations Cup – Ladipo

By Jacob Ajom
The senior national team, the Super Eagles are in Group G of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series, alongside Egypt, Chad and Tanzania. So far, Egypt are the run away leaders with 6 points from 2 matches, while Nigeria, with four points from the same number of matches are placed second. Tanzania have 1point and Chad are in the rear with no point.

SUPER EAGLES CAPTAIN, AHMED MUSA (M), DURING THE FIFA INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY MATCH BETWEEN SUPER EAGLES OF NIGERIA AND NIGER REPUBLIC IN PORT HARCOURT ON TUESDAY (08/08/15). NIGERIA WON 2-0
Of the four countries, only Egypt and Nigeria have hope of qualifying, with the Pharaohs having a brighter chance. But President General of the Nigerian Football Supporters Club, Dr Rafiu Ladipo has posited how the Super Eagles, who are two points adrift of the leaders can stop the Egyptians.
“The Eagles can still qualify if we do our home work,” Ladipo started. “I will advise Coach Sunday Oliseh to work hand-in-hand with his U-23 counterpart, Samson Siasia. Some of the U-23 players can play in the Eagles. Oliseh must strengthen his team with some of them.”
Continuing, Ladipo who was in Tanzania to mobilise support for the Eagles said the only way the Nigerian team can stop Egypt from qualifying for the 2017 Afcon is, “beat Egypt here then go to Cairo and hold them. Nothing matters again if we can achieve this, plus a victory over Tanzania here.”
He said the team’s poor outing in Tanzania should not be used to judge either Oliseh or his players. “We are always in a hurry to judge. You don’t judge a player by just one match. Both Oliseh and his players should be given more time to gel. Thank God they played a friendly soon after the Tanzania match. They need more of such friendlies.”
Ladipo said the Tanzania match brought up a new discovery, which should be something to cheer about. “In every situation, there are gains to be made. The Tanzanians could not score majorly because of inexperience and the excellent work by our goalkeeper. The discovery of Carl Ikeme changed the Tanzania story,” Ladipo concluded.

Ex-Eagles warn U-23 team over Senegal

Idris Adesina

Yisa Shofoluwe
Former Nigeria internationals, Yisa Shofoluwe and Garba Lawal, have warned the national Under-23 team not to underestimate Senegal when they meet in the men’s football event of the ongoing 2015 All Africa Games in Brazzaville on Saturday.
Nigeria will battle Senegal for the top spot in Group B. The Nigerians, who are seeking gold in the competition after winning on home soil in 1973, qualified for the semi-finals courtesy of their 2-0 win over Ghana on Wednesday.
Shofoluwe told our correspondent on the telephone on Thursday that Senegal would not be an easy side to beat because they have always been a tough side for Nigeria.
“Senegal have a history of being tough against Nigeria anytime we meet them,” the former Nigeria defender said.
“They are a strong side and also will like to go for the ultimate prize – the gold medal. They know that Nigeria can stop them so our boys need to be careful of them.
“The team did well against Ghana but they need to work more on their weaknesses and don’t allow the Senegalese to capitalise on them.
“They should convert as much chances as they can and should not be overconfident against them.”
According to former Super Eagles midfielder Lawal, Senegal have a tradition of building strong teams at the youth level, saying the team in Congo is not different.
The Atlanta ’96 Olympic Games gold medallist said, “The Senegalese are a strong side when it comes to youth football.
“Nigeria should not lose focus of the fact that they have come a long way before getting to the competition.
“They should play as a team and work well to convert their chances. They should also know that all opponents are not always the same. The way they played against Ghana may not work against Senegal so they need to work hard.
“If they (Under-23 team) keep their sights on what they hope to achieve, they will get the desired victory. Samson Siasia is a good coach and will do what it takes to beat Senegal.”
Senegal played a goalless draw against Ghana in their first match and will hope to beat Nigeria for a place in the semi-finals.

Sokari wants All Africa Games glory

Nigeria U23 midfielder, Kingsley Sokari insists the Dream Team VI will not take their foot off the gas in the football event of the ongoing 2015 All Africa Games.
Sokari scored an audacious goal on Wednesday as Nigeria subdued Ghana 2-0 in their opening game in Group B.
The Enyimba man nonchalantly lobbed past the Ghana goalkeeper, Richard Ofori in the 87th minute at Stade Municipal de Kintélé, Brazzaville as the Dream Team VI stormed to the top of the Group.
“I am happy I scored but the most important thing was the victory for the team. We want to win the Gold at the All Africa Games,” Sokari said.”
Next up for the Dream Team VI is another Group B game against Senegal on September 12 and Sokari says they cannot afford to be lulled into a false sense of security ahead of the fixture.
“We know Senegal are strong but we will trust the tactics of our coaches and try to play to instruction.
“I know that we will not underrate them. Hopefully we will win the game and qualify for the semi-finals,” he said.
Nigeria, Ghana and Senegal are the three teams in Group B as Egypt-the fourth country in the group-withdrew before the tournament kicked off.
The top two sides in the group will qualify for the semi-finals.

Oliseh has not used his own advice cuz there were many names missing in that regard. Martins, Kalu Uche, Anichebe, Iheanacho, Mikel. Having players like Emenike, Ujah and Lukman (who has proven how much of a has-been he truly is and hopefully won't be mentioned in any naija footy arguement henceforth) does not support such suggestion.
