Gunmen have beheaded a former lawmaker in Anambra State, Nelson Achukwu after collecting N15 million ransom from his family. Achukwu was a former lawmaker representing Nnewi South II constituency at the House of Assembly. The lawmaker was said to have been kidnapped few months ago. Spokesperson, Anambra State Police Command, Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the dastardly act, saying that the victim’s body was found between the boundary of Uke and Ukpor communities. He said Achukwu was kidnapped in his house on 9 June, 2022 and that efforts were being made to rescue him before this unfortunate development. The PPRO added that the police were still not relenting on their investigation to bring to culprits to book. A family source told SaharaReporters that they could not believe he would be killed after they paid the N15million ransom requested by his abductors. The victim, the owner of Nelly Oil & Gas filling station located along Onuselogu road, Utuh, had earlier been abducted and released a few months ago. Later Achukwu was said to have told his family members that his captors had accused him of providing information to the military but got released when they found out the allegations were false. The beheading of Achukwu came one month after Okechukwu Okoye, a serving lawmaker representing Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s constituency at the State Assembly was kidnapped and later found beheaded https://weetalknaija.com.ng/news/gunmen-behead-another-lawmaker-in-anambra-after-collecting-n15million-ransom.html Mynd44 Lalasticlala Seun |

A former Minister of Niger Delta, Godsday Orubebe, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party. He made this known in a letter addressed to the National Chairman of the party, lyorchia Ayu, on Monday. In a copy of his resignation letter obtained by our correspondent, the former minister expressed dismay over the emergence of a northerner, Atiku Abubakar, as the party’s presidential candidate. Part of the letter read, “I write to formally inform you of my resignation from the PDP. This I have communicated to the Chairman of Burutu Ward 3, Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State, effective 20. June 2022. “Consequently, I am by this letter intimating you of my total withdrawal from all activities at the Ward, Local, State, and National levels of the PDP. “I am highly honoured and privileged to have been part of a political party that successfully transformed a pariah nation to one that commanded respect in the comity of nations. When we lost the Presidential election in 2015 in bewildering circumstances, to say the least, it was my belief that the party would use the opposition period to re-strategise with the aim of taking back power at the earliest opportunity. “However, the present situation in the party does not inspire confidence that the party is ready to regain power in 2023. Against the mood of the nation and in complete disregard for the provisions of the party’s constitution, the party, threw the zoning of the Presidency open, which created a situation that led to the emergence of a Northerner as the party’s Presidential flagbearer, thus making the two topmost positions in the party, after your emergence as the National Chairman, to be occupied by Northerners, contrary to section 7.3(c) of the party’s constitution. “I salute and commend the Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Nyesom Wike for Ns efforts and gallantry at the primaries. Posterity will be kind to him when the history of the party is written. “There are lots to be said, but out of respect for the party, I leave some stories untold at this time. My belief in the sanctity of Nigeria is unshaken and I will continually work for her progress and development. even H It a through another route.” https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/breaking-ex-minister-orubebe-resigns-from-pdp-gives-reasons/%3famp Mynd44 Lalasticlala Seun |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqQvttQEUKk The Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike appears to be on the verge of dumping the People's Democratic Party PDP and joining the APC. In a video being circulated online Wike can be seen having a conversation with someone (presumably from APC) via a video call and telling them that he wishes to move to APC and giving conditions which would enable his move to be solidified. He laid down conditions such as APC publicizing his move and giving assurances of what he and his people would benefit and how he would be placed. The Video appears to have been done very recently although there is no time stamp. We can recall how Wike despite puting in so much for the PDP ended up repeatedly being sidelined by the Party up till their most recent Precidential primaries and the choice of a VP candidate for Atiku.
