Preator: Well, it works for me cos if i need to switch my funds urgently, i won't have to start creating and verifying.
Case in point: I had a trustbanc on Cowrywise before they did their merging so i am still enjoying the 19% mmf on Cowrywise. Good. |
Investment › Re: Mutual Funds by 1kinggy(m): 9:19am On May 22 |
Preator: I have once written here before that mmf risks are largely the same across fund managers. For equity, the reverse is the case. The skills and versatility of your manager matters here. A manager that is not well diversified may rise like ijebu garri when the industry he invested in his doing well, but heaven forbid yakubu enter that industry, you can see your capital disappear. Of course if you are willing to wait, dead bones shall rise again
Now to the ranking, i use CardinalStone, ARM, UCAP, Zedcrest, Stanbic, Afrinvest and Meristem. Planning on joining coronation wealth that is just launching too.
1. Meristem is my top pick 2.CardinalStone 3. Afrinvest 4. ARM 5. UCAP 6. Stanbic (my oldest equity) 7. ZEDCREST
note that zedcrest has the highest return currently (112%+) but i am not assured they are well spread. I'll rather take my chances with the 60% Managers.
This is my personal view and ranking based on return and my subjective view of their portfolio. I have only ever withdrawn from meristem and stanbic. Process was easy. I cant say yet for the others Why 7 asset managers. 2 is optimal and 3 may even be an overkill. |

crownprince2017: To the people advocating for MTN, do you use MTN data at all, if you do, you should know that it takes just efficient competitor with wide coverage and affordability to wipe the revenue from that aspect a way. MTN is a definition of failure when it comes to data business, very very bad value for money.
I don't know the extent of that business to their revenue but in the long run I believed they will loose that battle except something is seriously being done to mitigate that asap. Until then, early investors will continue to milk it. |

awesomeJ: Yes sir.
If I buy a stock with N50m in January, and by June, it's done 100% and is then valued at N100m
Even if I sell and have no plans to remain on the market, I will sell for N100m, then repurchase for N100m and resell for N100m.
Two transaction tranches:. First leg: I entered at N50m and exited at N100m , N50m gains .
It won't be taxable cos I'm deploying the process into the second tranch.
Second tranch:
I entered and N100m and exited at N100m
No profits hence no tax. Check again, cumulate transaction and profits will be considered. JIJO gang beware. |

Stockhunter: I can bet my 2 cent that this CGT will not be implemented. There was a reason the last one was not. One, we dont have the infrastructure, two, the market is very dynamic and complex. Only the JIJO guys that swing though several stocks in a year will confuse the system.
Another example if dangote fertiliser/refinery list by say 2nd quarter next year and an investor enters into the stock by 3rd quarter and makes gain above 10m, will this be taxed too, considering the reset date of 31 Dec 2025. This market go burst the tax guys head no worry. Tax is calculated when you sell and takes the cash out of the market. |

Family › Re: My Sisters Husband in Canada Is Very Stingy by 1kinggy(m): 8:03am On Sep 04, 2025 |
isyourboy: I’m not the begging type as I have a lot of things going on for myself. My sister joined her husband in Canada last year courtesy of her husband. Outside of the little 50k, 100k there that this man used to send to me (I don’t know how much he gives my parent — In law, by the way ), he’s never thought of establishing me in business or find a way for me to join my sister in Canada.
Even most times you have to remind him before he send the pittance he sent to me. Last week, I told him to find a way for me to join my sister in Canada, and he said he’s still paying for the debt he took for my sister to join him and he want to send her to school also. Meanwhile I didn’t know this. Okay then I can wait. After then I told him to find me a bulk sum so I can start some business. He asked how much and I said 5M naira would be enough, he cut the phone, called him back and send him msg on WhatsApp which he read and didn’t reply. I called my sister and told her what her husband did and she said she will talk to him.
You have been in Canada for a while and little things to give back to the family is difficult for you? Not his fault It lookslike he made a mistake marrying someone in your family. You better go and learn handwork and stop being an entitled parasite. Abi, in all your story what have you done for him? You called 50k and 100k pittance. If it is that small for you, go get a work or ask your father and brothers. Don't stress the innocent man. He did go to Canada because of your family! |
