PoliticsYou Goofed Saying Biafra Is Dead, Buried — IPOB Replies Obasanjo by 1nice(op): 7:33pm On Apr 24, 2023
The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB yesterday replied to former president Olusegun Obasanjo, over his alleged comment that Biafra is dead and buried, saying he goofed and Biafra is still a life.

IPOB in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary Emma Powerful, entitled “Chief Obasanjo knows that Biafra is much alive and will be restored soon, alleged that Chief Obasanjo, as a special guest at Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s one-year celebration in office at Awka, erroneously claimed that Biafra is dead and buried, saying that the former president of Nigeria goofed on that statement.

IPOB’s statement read, “The global family and movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, under the command and leadership of our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu wish to remind the former president of Nigeria Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, that Biafra is not dead and was never buried. but much alive and eventually the Sun shall rise to never set again.”

“Chief Obasanjo, as a special guest at Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s one-year celebration in office at the event in Awka, Anambra State, erroneously said he believed that Biafra died and was buried on 13th January 1970 while making a speech at that occasion.

“How can Chief Obasanjo believe that an entire nation will die and be buried? Did he forget the warning of the then surrendering officer, General Philip Effiong, when he warned Nigeria to treat the descendants of Biafra well, or they will rise up to continue the demand for a separate country?

“Can Chief Obasanjo be sincere to himself that his government and subsequent ones treated Biafrans as equals in this country? We want to ask Chief Obasanjo, has there been any ethnic group in Nigeria that has been subjugated, maltreated, deprived, discriminated, profiled, hated, militarized, and their youths murdered by the Nigerian State like Biafrans?

“Thank God that he, Obasanjo, publicly acknowledged that there is an “Igbophobia” in Nigeria. The hatred against Ndigbo in Nigeria is visible even to the blind.

“We would not have responded to Chief Obasanjo’s comment but we want him to bear in mind that Biafra is coming and very soon. We wish that God Almighty will keep him, Gowan, and other Biafra genocides alive to witness and celebrate Biafrans whose mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters and ancestors they butchered in cold blood because of ethnic profiling and hatred from 1967-1970.

“The hatred we are witnessing today from other Nigerians if the country does not conduct the Biafra referendum in peace will soon cause it to implode in a more devastating way. This time, every part of Nigeria will feel the heat. It shall no longer be the Biafra civil war, but every part of Nigeria will receive its own share of a blood bath.

“We want Chief Obasanjo and other interested groups to know that our demand for Biafra exit from Nigeria is not born out of hate for anyone but because we want to survive as a race. We have tried our best to belong and contribute to building Nigeria, which was founded on fraud and sustained with injustice and shared hatred against Biafrans, all to no avail. Our quest for the Biafra referendum and independence is a quest for survival.

“Chief Obasanjo, who wondered why there is “igbophobia” in Nigeria, was the same president who oversaw an evil policy to close all Seaports in Biafra territory in his show of hatred. He ensured that Lagos became the only operational seaport in Nigeria, thereby putting Biafran territory an economic disadvantage over his Yoruba territory.

“Umu Igbo should Obasanjo be able to stand in ala Igbo and speak such words to us? Has Chief Obasanjo called the Nigerian government to obey their court order and release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, whom the Courts have discharged and acquitted?

We, therefore, urge him not to patronize us with his hypocrisy. Biafra is our legal and human right and we must get it.
We want Chief Obasanjo to know that Biafra is not dead and definitely not buried. No amount of propaganda and blackmail against the IPOB movement will make us change our resolve to restore Biafra. We either restore Biafra or we die restoring Biafra. That is why we say Biafra, Biafra or Biafra, nothing more nothing less.”

Igbos are patient and have been wondering what is going on with the way the Nigeria government is handling Nnamdi Kanu matter and In the next 72hours, if there is no response on Nnamdi Kanu Detention from the Nigeria judiciary and legislatures: then the Igbos will be sending delegates to Aso Rock Presidential Villa Abuja, to get answers on the rascality of some Nigeria government officials and people towards Nnamdi Kanu: Nnamdi Kanu have a fundamental human rights which must not be violated and trampled upon; Nnamdi Kanu have rights to fair hearings and freedom of speech.

PoliticsThere Was Deliberate Attempt To Deny Igbo Opportunity To Rule Nigeria — Ikpeazu by 1nice(op): 1:53pm On Apr 20, 2023
Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has said there was a deliberate attempt by “powers that be” to deny Ndigbo the opportunity of superintending over the affairs of Nigeria.

There was a deliberate attempt by powers that be to deny Ndigbo the opportunity to superintend over the affairs of the country”, Ikpeazu said.

The Governor who made the remark when he hosted the leadership of Nzuko Umunna, a pan-Igbo political organization, in his Umuobiakwa palatial country home, charged Ndigbo to be united as a people and collectively advance the cause of the people.

Gov. Ikpeazu said that time had come for Ndigbo to become intentional about their strategic disposition in Nigeria.

Ikpeazu recalled that Ndigbo had made immense contributions to national development as they are found in every part of Nigeria but regretted that the conspiracy around the Igbos was very grave.

He made a case for Ndigbo “to leverage on their unity, compromise and understanding to craft and construct a pathway towards their political liberation”.

According to a press statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Onyebuchi Ememanka, the time has come for Ndigbo to be united against their common enemy instead of being divided against themselves.

“Ndigbo should not spend time-fighting themselves but rather forge a common front for their future in Nigeria”, Ikpeazu said.

The Governor further said there was a need for Ndigbo to reflect on their relationship with other ethnic groups in the country.

He advised Ndigbo to expand conversations around their political survival with a view to strengthening their relationship with other ethnic groups across the country.

Ikpeazu who failed his bid to go to the Senate after losing to the incumbent Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe pledged his unflinching support for Nzuko Umunna.

Earlier in his speech, the leader of the delegation, Nze Ozichukwu Chukwu said their visit to the Governor was to further discuss with him on the way forward for Ndigbo.

He said it was time for Ndigbo to come together and speak as one people.

The former National Vice Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, South East, explained that “Nzuko Umunna is a political but not partisan organisation”.

He lauded Ikpeazu for his courage to congratulate the Abia Governor-elect, Dr Alex Otti, on his victory as well as for urging other candidates not to distract him with court litigations.

Former Minister of Women Affairs, Iyom Josephine Anenih, was also on the delegation.

PoliticsYakubu Gowon Must Apologise To Igbos Over His Role In Civil War – PDP by 1nice(op): 1:21pm On Apr 20, 2023
Gowon must apologise to Igbo over his role in Civil War – PDP

The Abia state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said the former Military Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon(rtd) must apologise to the people of the Southeast over his role in the Biafra Civil War.

The acting State Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Abia, Abraham Amah, in a statement, said Gowon’s name unsettles a lot of people in the Southeast due to his involvement in the Civil War.

Amah was reacting to a statement that Gowon, alongside the state governor-elect, Alex Otti, would lead a prayer session in the state on Sunday.

The prayer session is scheduled to be held at Master’s Vessel Church in Umuahia area of state.

The statement read: “The attention of the Abia PDP has been drawn to a news item in circulation on social media indicating that Nigeria’s former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, would on Sunday April 23 lead a prayer session in one Master’s Vessel Church Umuahia, Abia State under the auspices of his pet project, Nigeria Prays, to herald a new Abia. Whatever ‘a new Abia’ means.

“The name, Yakubu Gowon is unsettling to many people in the South-East given the ignoble roles he played during the Biafran Civil War for which he is yet to render any public apology.”

Amah said the choice of Gowon as special guest in a state that is the home town of slain General Aguiyi Ironsi was insensitive.

The PDP noted that Abia state had produced a Catholic Bishop and other high-ranking clergymen.

It stressed that Gowon had yet to publicly admit his mistakes in the Civil War.

Amah stated: “The only way the prayer session would make meaning to the millions of Southeasterners, dead and alive, is for Gowon to use the opportunity of the prayer session and convert it to a moment of truth and apologise to the people for his role in the atrocious war that led to the untimely death of millions of our very resourceful people,” he added.
