Construction of the Kainji at that time was such a tall project.
Those kids standing naked with Awo, are u sure they came to school or just ran there to have that pic with him.
I do not think kids that young were of school age at that time

All we know about this photograph is that is that it is British PM Harold Macmillan touring a housing estate in Lagos, Nigeria, in 1960. Are the houses still there, are you one of the young boys? These are the kinds of questions the Archive want answered.

the Bad Things Christian Colonial Masters Did in Nigeria

Dear patriots, these are some of the principles that you must apply. You will find many other books, which will be given to you at the end of this conference. Evangelize the niggers [slaves] so that they stay forever in submission to the white colonialists, so they never revolt against the restraints they are undergoing. Recite every day – “Happy are those who are weeping because the kingdom of God is for them.”

Who knows, maybe these guys were payed 50 kobo monthly by then.
I wish Nigeria could be as those days cuz of the value of our Naira, and I also would not like those years to come back cuz of the current Technology we are enjoying.
Anyways, thank God I wasn't an adult by then, Lol...

What do you mean by abuse?
Perhaps he just said they were a
pot-bellied and nude. And he was right.

Have you ever heard of the phrase "Ajala travel"? meet Olabisi Ajala, psychology student of New York University, running around the world with his scooter in the 70s.
Ebenezer Obey even composed a song in his honor, with part of the lyrics saying, "Ajala travels all over the world".

It's really incredible this guy's praise was not sung far and wide in this country called Nigeria.

Koma Bagi people of Adamawa State, Nigeria

The Fulani overlords (the Lamidos) continued to rule the Koma and extort taxes from them by organised raids to the hills. With the conclusion of the first world war the Germans renounced their claims to the Cameroons in favour of the Allied Powers. As
a result, the Adamawa area, which includes the Koma, was placed under British Mandate.
A year after Nigeria's independence in 1961, as a result of a plebiscite the Koma became recognised as Nigerians along with the old Adamawa/Saduana provinces of the Northern.

There is something wrong with this particular picture, it does not fit.
Check out the size of the building blocks, the clothes, the type of exercise books and writing material; IN 1970? Even in the 80's folks used slate, remember? grin grin
