I was in class 1 at St. Gregory's College then and loved going to the Kingsway Stores on the Marina from our residence in Obalende.
Lagos was a jollyride in those days.
Sometimes I miss my childhood and I miss my great parents too.

Naira had value then.
A trip to UK and US was less than N599 by flight.
It was 75 kobo to one US1.

Back when Lagos was lagos. When only those with business in town were in town. A trip to Kingsway was next to heaven. You get all the original ajebutter stuff which were only available to us when pops and moms travelled to England or when my coz came on holidays from America .
Who can forget LTV with that heavily loaded lagos weekend television. Fashioned around London weekend television, LWT was loaded with movies, cartoons, wildlife documentaries, variety shows etc and even today, makes most of the other terrestrial television look like a joke.

Pity that Buhari's stupid policies forced kingsway to fold up. Remember going to kingsway in Warri then every Christmas to see father Xmas.

May it never be well for those who set Nigeria back by over 30 yrs
