I think the question shud be "family an career" an not marriage an career.
An family certainly comes first..if I lose my career ,I can always gain another one or even a better one,but my family is irreplaceable.

That is a big misquote..I have listened to the message over and over ,he did not in anyway say that career is more important than marriage.
First,he was talkin to men specifically.
Secondly,he was talkin about "work"not career..they are two different things.plz listen to the message again

Personal choice come in to play here.

We have seen cases where a woman pursue her career until she's 30+ and ready to settle down while we have seem women get married by 18, give birth to all her kids and then focus on her career.

There is no manual about stuffs like this, you make the decision on your own and stick to whatever comes out of it.

I for one will prefer to get married, give birth to my kids and face my career!

In your case, dont you think marriage (kids and wife) can be a great source of distraction in building a career?

I didn't n will never b a party to silly advice or any sort.
In as much as marriage is important, our career which is d bed rock of our destinies is as well important.
But u should know where to place which. N u should understand ur priorities.if it's before marriage, oh ur career is ur priority, but after ur priority changes.
Look at marriages where their career is placed first, it crumbles like a house without a strong foundation.
This mentality of career first in marriages is d leading factor fueling d rate of divorce. U should know how to strike a balance. Ur marriage has to do with ur husband/wife n kids.. if u put ur career first, then expect a certain result n vice versa.
As me, wen am married, my family is first. N this doesn't make me a lazy wife or a house wife, I am a working class lady n as well own a business. M not d lazy type n don't encourage ladies in that vane.n so will continue make more money even in marriage.

I understand what you're saying but once you're married, there's a high probability of having kids.... I can't be using condom or abstaining when I'm married, also can't use any kinda fertility drugs....

There are some women that have combined the 2 effectively at a go ( career and family)

Let me use Omotola as an example, she got married, gave birth to her kids(yes, she was doing a few jobs then but not like now that she is travelling around the world working) and now she is a busy working woman( hope you get what I'm trying to pass across)

Its either you face family first before career or career before family or both.

The bolded is so true, I had a personal experience and it was not a funny one at all-infact I was given the job (acceptance letter and all)and I told them I was pregnant few day s later( I was not showing) na there story change.

In all I'm grateful for the decision I took, I look at the decision on the face and smile. That decision is worth even more than a slot at Aso Rock

I totally get you...but using Omotola as an example, she got her career already in place before she got married. She was still a virgin when she got married to her hubby...to tell you how focused she was building her career. No one will be that successful putting marriage first. What she now does is balance career and marital life. So what am I saying?...having a career life before marriage guarantees a 90% successful marriage.
