ABUJA-The Supreme Court, Tuesday,
dismissed the suit seeking to stop
President Goodluck Jonathan from
vying for a re-election next year.

A five-man panel of Justices of the
apex court presided over by the Chief
Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice
Mahmud Mohammed, struck out the
appeal which was filed before it by a
Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic
Party, PDP, from Adamawa State, Dr.
Umar Ardo.

Delivering the ruling, the CJN,
accused Ardo of inviting the Supreme
Court to arrest a proceeding pending
before the Abuja Division of the Court
of Appeal.

He noted that the substantive suit
challenging Jonathan’s eligibility
is currently before the appellate
court, stressing that Ardo lacked the
locus-standi to move the apex court
to either take over hearing on the
matter or compel the appeal court to
join him as an interested party in the
pending appeal.

Before now, most of us already knew the suit would be dismissed. That's what I've been clamouring for, anyway. We can now deal with him at the polls. He's going back to Otuoke come May 29th 2015!

Jona vs Buhari is on.....

Oh well.....2015 here we come

P.S--May there be peace and unity in 2015, and zero repeat of the horrible events of 2011. Let our politicians have, as the boxing ref says a good clean fight.

PS2--May Nigerians realise that their job in a democracy does not end at the ballot box. You have to make your leaders work for you....and not just those in Abuja.

PS3--If PDP or APC is not to your taste....vote for another party. Beauty of democracy and all that.

do you expect the president to lose?
Re: Eligibility For 2015: S-court Dismisses Suit Against Jonathan by Moslaw: 3:43pm On Dec 16, 2014
I wonder how the plaintiff and his lawyers having jumped the hierarchy of courts in seeking justice, still expect that their suit will not be dismissed by the supreme court.

Some lawyers sef badt o, they will just raise your hopes about winning a case, allow you to foolishly go about it the wrong way so as to prolong the case and in consequence, make good fortune out of their clients.

Anyway, good riddance! I guess GEJ can now prepare for the uphill task ahead of him in 2015.

In other news, Barely 48hours the courts have delivered 2 important judgments - first affirming that Tambuwal still remains the speaker of the house of reps despite defection to APC, and now dismissing the eligibility suit against the president. I wish the courts will be this swift in dispensing justice when it has to do with the poor man on the streets.
