The House of Representatives have resolved to probe recent allegations made by the Department of State Services, DSS, that the All Progressives Congress, APC tried to hack into the data base of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

According to Vauguard, the decision was reached yesterday after the Deputy Majority Leader, Rep Leo Ogor, PDP, Isoko Fed Constituency brought a motion entitled : ’The unauthorized and alleged hacking into the INEC Data Base.”

Ogor in his submission had argued that” the INEC is vested by the Nigerian constitution with the responsibilities to carry out the functions of conducting elections into elective positions in the country.”
He said: ”The DSS allegations relating to the alleged plan to hack into the INEC data base is a very serious allegation”. “And that the allegations coming at the heels of an election period calls for concern that should not be treated with levity.”
The house Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal subsequently put the debate to a voice vote and it was unanimously adopted.

It would be recalled that the Department of State Services (DSS) On January 7, 2015, Wednesday, said it had made a breakthrough in its investigations of the Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) cloning allegedly perpetrated by agents of APC in an apartment in Lagos.

The spokesperson of the DSS, which is also called SSS, Marilyn Ogar, addressed a press conference where she said the service had uncovered lists containing names and photographs of security personnel, foreigners and under-aged children on the list of registered members of the APC.
The All Progressives Congress have however denied all the allegations, saying the ‘findings’ are baseless.
