OMG!!!! You have your computer infected with a Ransomware. A very brutal one at that. well sha all hope is not lost.

Firstly lets restore your computer to an earlier date before the infection.

- Restart your computer and press F8 repeatedly until you get the WINDOWS ADVANCE BOOT OPTION
-Choose the SAFE MODE WITH COMMAND PROMPT OPTION
-When the command prompt comes up type CD RESTORE and press enter
-Then type rstrui.exe and press enter
-You will see the system retore dialogue box Click ENTER
-The new page will show a list of restore points (Hope you have restore points sha oooo). You can click the show more restore points if you are not satisfies with the ones you have.
-Click NEXT and click YES then your computer will be restored and your files recovered.

After restoration download Malwarebyte on https://www.malwarebytes.org/downloads/ install and use it to scan your computer then we can commence with a training on how to be safe on the internet.

Morale of the story, be very careful on what you click,accept and download online !!!!

I don't know how this happened but I know I'm in serious trouble right now. All files on my system has been encrypted. I don't know how it happened. This is a serious attack and I don't even know how to go about it. I was using my system and immediately a file poped up (see figure attached) and then it directed me to visit a site to decrypt my files, I clicked on the link and was further directed to another page asking me to pay $500 to get my files decrypted or else the money would be incremented after sometime. Where am I going to get this kind of money and pay this person now? What is happening to me? Who can help me please? I can't stand loosing all my files. Please house, I need help. Mr. Seun please help me put this on frontpage.

nasty lesson to learnt abt clicking here and there "trying" stuffs on the net; dat was in the old days, dem don disvirging the net now .

"copping feels" downloading, running, testing and uninstalling on d net nowadays dey earn more than mere backhands now o; because of all these Ransomware sturvs lurking in the most unexpected of places.

Against future occurences, a safe practice, amonsgt many others, might be to run suspicious softs on separate partitions/profiles/OS's on ur lappy there.

AND 9times out of 10, no dey listen to all these apps demanding say make u disable ur Firewall/Antivir/ Anti-malware b4fore they run, som of dem are so full of shy.t, the toilet will be jealous of them; and som others will just leave you open for other sturvs to creep in and scr.ew your worsktation up!

(as per cracks/mods/keygens and stuffs, find a way to vet dem without ur Antivir deleting dem or blacklisting/quarantining them; u could add them up to the Scan-Excluding List or even when they come up, Add them to the False-Positives list etc

After complete installation,run a full scan,that should get u sorted.

Do the same for AVAST FREE ANTIVIRUS..don't pay anybody any money,its quite easy to rid ur system of nasty viruses n malware.

Something isn't adding up here and also I didn't read your entire problem, but it doesn't make sense that your files on your computer are all encrypted without you knowing. Did you use BitLocker to encrypt them? or you just don't know.

He must have downloaded a file online that was infested with ransomware and the malware has locked all his files.
Read up on ransomware online.

I have actually done the scanning and I believe all threats have been removed. But my files are still encrypted. Am getting tired here. Thought we'll be able to fix this issue and boast about it. So sad, these guys seem powerful.

I noticed something, it would have been a success if my CMOS battery was good because the system depends on the system date to create Restore Points. Sadly, no Restore Point was created before the unfortunate happened. So after removing the malware, I couldn't restore files to previous version. I have also installed Linux OS on Virtual Machine then try to open one of the encrypted files there but it didn't still work. I think we have tried. Experience they say is the best teacher and I think I have learnt so much from this.
