It's either you're not telling the truth or you didn't understand what your grand dad told you. Who tells any one not to start dating till 30? When at 30 one should be looking forward to settling down, that's if they aren't married already. It is even more surprising for your grand dad to give you such an advise, when during their era men married at an even more younger age than the ones of today.

Just tell us you have been single for personal reasons and want to start off a relationship. That would have suffice.
