I read the article it's slightly academic but does nothing in terms of breakthrough information and or strategy.

I expected a lot more.

I don't understand why they had to install the secondary weapon on the BRT, it is to have something to use for soft targets? Wouldn't it prevent the main gun from rotating effectively 180 degrees?

Yeap when this BTR-4 first arrive the main gun (RWS/Automatic Canon) was been used, after a while I don’t know what happen.
First of all they where returned, then later brought back with an added AAG in the front. I think we have issues getting the ammo for the main gun but the coaxial machine-gun besides are still working.

Now this is what past COAS got for us, if you talk now they come for your head lipsrsealed

Generally if not for military discipline and if everyone could have their way most combatants would rather not wear an helmet except in direct line of fire, its a global phenomenon, but thank God for the technology of way lighter and useful helmets has changed the trend, factor in the typical Nigerian sucker for safety rules attitude and ur guess is good as mine.

However in Advanced militaries too you would hardly see an officer from colonel upwards donning helmet up and down except his in the kill zone,in the military oga can dress anyhow with no questions asked, same way Buhari can wear camo anytime as CinC with no question asked.

I also don't think the CO was too exposed as I saw him pacing all over in the video which would make it a hard target for even a sniper, from the rounds of fire I was hearing the BHT were too engaged to even give him a shot let alone a clean one and the risk he took was definitely worth taking its just about military tactics 101 especially when u don't have an endless supply of ammo or supplies.

Wearing your helmet in in hostile territory is a must not too wear it sheer stupidity.

It is still incomprehensible.

The RWS gives you clear and over riding advantage over your enemy. It has FLIR something Boko cannot deal with so you can see the heat signature of thier rickety gun trucks with the thermal sights.

You can effectively at 1.5km start taking out thier gun trucks.

The 30 X 165 is dirt cheap it's made in Ukraine and across the Eastern block. It's available like yesterday.

Don't make any sense. I wonder if any if the associated electronics are operations making it a big wheeled tin box a Lion with no teeth.

They have put a big HMG on it that's not going to be particularly accurate beyond 500 metres and that's after expending sorry waisting multiple rounds unnecessarily.

Hello, stop misquoting me. I never said NVG are sold for $8 . They are very expensive, talking about those of military standard.

What I said is that there are budget ones that go for as low as $8. These budget ones aren't military standard but it doesn't mean it can't be useful . I was trying to tell you that the Nigerian army will be better off using the latter rather than having nothing at all. In summary, I was trying to tell you "at all at all nahim bad pass" I bought one for that amount from Amazon and it was great.

I appreciate your rational.

Is the issue one of affordability or is it something else.

We are still using basic AK47's some are even low quality Chinese made. I am told not substantiated rumoured.

Some take-aways on the so-called Super Camp strategy:

Read the whole thing here:

https://peccaviconsulting./2020/02/13/boko-haram-iswaps-christmas-2019-offensive/

The biggest difference is in the camp format.

I am shocked that we are still practicing WW2 ideology and digging trenches. Who does that in this modern age.

You need elevation, it's very simple I've talked about this before. We have a system of large elevated essentially sand bag walls. HESCO wall basket as they are popularly called.

It gives you elevation and protection from HMG and RPG and it makes it easier for you yo responde and kill them off.

Look at the trench, you are dealing with deranged suicide terrorists if one of them should crawl his way into that trench then ignite himself. Let's not even imagine.

NAF@56: NAF DISTRIBUTES FOOD ITEMS, OTHER PALLIATIVES TO HOST COMMUNITIES IN ABUJA TO MARK ITS 56th ANNIVERSARY

As part of activities to mark its 56th Anniversary, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) today, 21 April 2020, distributed food items and other palliatives to indigent members of its host communities in Nuwalege, Zamani and Ushafa in the Abuja Municipal and Bwari Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The palliatives, which were handed over by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Oladayo Amao, are aimed at complementing the efforts of the Federal Government in assuaging the hardships being experienced by Nigerians due to the lockdown imposed to curb the spread of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). Unlike previous NAF Day Celebrations, this year’s anniversary has been scaled down in keeping with the mood of the Nation as well as the need to comply with the stipulated precautionary measures to curb the spread of the virus. The distribution of palliatives to NAF host communities, which commenced today, would also be replicated in all the 6 Geopolitical Zones of the Country and would last until 26 April 2020.

While fielding questions from the Press, the Representative of the CAS, AVM Amao, stated that the NAF Day is usually marked with a lot of fanfare and major activities such as ceremonial parades, anniversary lectures, medical outreaches, gala nights and award ceremonies as well as static and aerial displays, amongst others. “However”, he disclosed, “with the mood of the Nation as a result of the COVID-19 global pandemic, the NAF decided this year to mark the anniversary in a low key manner whilst reaching out to poor and vulnerable members of our host communities through the distribution palliatives”. He added that members of the Nigerian Air Force Officers' Wives Association (NAFOWA) would also be complementing the effort of the NAF through the distribution of palliatives to some communities before the end of the week. He appealed to beneficiaries to stay safe and observe all the precautionary safety measures and guidelines stipulated by the Federal Ministry of Health, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and other relevant Government Agencies, as the NAF would continue to visit them from time to time to further enlighten them on steps they could take individually and collectively to stem the Pandemic.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Commander 053 Headquarters NAF Camp, Abuja, Air Commodore Simon Peter, noted that in view of the recent turn of events brought about by the COVID-19 Pandemic, the CAS directed that the NAF’s 56th Anniversary should be flagged off with the distribution of palliatives to the poor and vulnerable groups in the NAF’s host communities nationwide. He disclosed that about 500 families would benefit from the first phase of the programme in Abuja and would receive various relief items including bags of rice and semovita as well as vegetable oil, tin tomatoes and hand sanitisers. While thanking the CAS for the laudable initiative, the Commander recalled how the NAF, as part of its civil military relations efforts, had held medical outreaches and provided toilets and a borehole for the Primary School in the Community. He noted that the Service would continue to add value to the society and thus contribute to Nation building.

The Sarki Nuwalege, Bashiru Daudu, while appreciating the NAF for coming to their aid at this crucial period, noted that the palliatives distributed by the Service would reduce hunger and also mitigate the hardship the people of the Community were facing. He also thanked the CAS for the laudable initiative which, he said, would further assist the poorest of the poor in his Community.

The other activity lined up to commemorate the NAF Day 2020 is a Fly-past by NAF aircraft on Wednesday, 22 April 2020, which would serve as a salute to the Nigerian people for their support to the NAF over the years, whilst also reminding Nigerians to stay safe in these trying times. The flag-off ceremony of palliatives in Abuja was also witnessed by Branch Chiefs, Directors and other senior officers from Headquarters NAF and other units in Abuja as well as members of the host communities.

Back in 2017/2018 it was Soldiers digging trenches with shovels. The trenches were so thing. That was the period ISWAP were running down our FOBs with reckless abandon.

But in 2019 the Military started using escavators to dig trenches. Now they even dig up to three trenches, of which the two outer trenches will only have a single guided point of entry guided by a barb wire fence. Although I heard the barb wire fence messed Soldiers trying to withdraw during the 2018 Metele attack.

The main gun is a waste in very close swam ambushes because of the angle of depression to ground.
A secondary weapon is handy especially when you come in contact with the enemy in an open terrain.

I can see throughly you have military personnel has friends giving the gist of what happened in some part of the theaters.
During the dark days, even has CO’s officers you have to participate in the digging somehow to show commitment and sympathy to troops under your command before we started having excavators.
But the part of your gist are not true !! Like these part stating: “Although I heard the barb wire fence messed Soldiers trying to withdraw during the 2018 Metele attack”. Show me a F.O.B with a barb wire in the North East theatre .

The Nigerian army don't even use Ak 47. What they use are clones of ak47 variants like the Romanian PMD 65, Yugoslavian M70 B1 and Chinese type 56. In a nut shell, they are using clones of clones.

What you are calling Ak47 is actually AKM, AK74 and occasionally Type 56's.
I once said this here in fighting insurgency especially in this part of the world AK is your BEST option, forget about those fancy guns you see in movies.

Ask of Bilimari FOB 20KM into Monguno from Maiduguri. Military later moved out of there due to Super Camp.

The FOB in Gajiram on Monguno-Maiduguri road. The last attack by ISWAP in 2019 they could not gain entrance into the FOB after close to 30mins shoot out with the NA.

One of the ISWAP guys came down from his truck as the shooting was ongoing and used a plier to open the wired fence. Immediately the ISWAP guys truck was able to move in freely into the FOB.

Although some Soldiers claimed the ISWAP dude used some kinda Voodoo grin because they fired heavily towards him.

Soldiers had to withdraw immediately the ISWAP guys had access to the entrance of the FOB. Bit right now the Army removed the wired fence from that FOB.

Ask any Soldier currently in Monguno.

[s] That's a delusional proposition with zero substance.

First of all to date there has not been any continous non stop attacks on any NATO territory.

Even the very cowardly hit and run tactics have been largely unsuccessful. Before they even get to implement an attack they are taken out.

You have a few lone Rangers highly deranged carryout attacks with vehicles, knives and guns but again they are very few.

Islamists terrorists have tried in Morocco and Tunisia and failed. Egypt is battling a serious insurgency in the Sinai for many years.

Without the intervention of NATO the entire sub Sahara region would have been completely over run.

Operation Serval was able to halt a far larger force of partnered terrorists Islamic organisation in Maghreb. Essentially within 2 weeks albeit with the help of Chadian soldiers. Barely a dozen French combatants lost.

Boko Haram has been on Nigerian territory and controlling territory for a decade. There is absolutely no basis for comparison. [/s]
