Honestly, NA smokes the wrong stuff when it comes to SF. Anyway, the 3 months course that most of their "SF" take is basically like the British P Company/AACC (Not in standard but idea). Produce highly fit, mobile soldiers with better infantry skills.

However there are "real SF" guys with the long drawn course (copied Pakistani) and part are those you see at Flintlock.
P.S If you remove the language training for US Green Bs, you'd have a significantly shorter training duration.
Exactly, personally I feel what is worth doing is worth doing well. And if we want to have SF, then we should give them the best training. For goodness sake, we're in war and these guys would be very useful to eliminate target locations and destroy hideouts

Who are the Buduma’s:

Wrestling competitions are very common amongst the Buduma tribes in the axis of the Lake Chad. The Buduma (Kanembu/Kanuri for ‘people who can swim) are a mysterious ethnic group who inhabit the Lac shores of Chad, Cameroon, and Nigeria. They are predominantly fishers and cattle-herders. In the past, the Buduma carried out violent raids on the cattle herds of their neighbors. They were feared villains with aggressive reputations; thus, they were respected and left alone for many years, protected by their own habitat of water and reeds.

Two main groups of people live on the islands of Lake Chad. One large and one small group. The bigger group lives in the northern parts and the smaller group inhabits the southeastern islands. Both groups share the same language (Yedinami), but are known as Yedina and Kuri, respectively. However, the general term of Buduma can refer to both tribes or solely the Yedina of the north.

The Buduma’s were initially affiliated to the Shekau JAS faction of Boko Haram, but have since been known to be affiliated to ISWAP and other independent groups resulting in power struggles and friction with the other main tribes like the - Kanuris, Damargu and Shuwa Arabs - hibernating around the axis of Chad and Niger. Amir Bakura (Mallama Bakura), a top Boko Haram commander is known to operate with the Buduma tribes and have been linked to several other Buduma commanders including Amir Shettima Kalaka; Amir Abu Abbas and Malam Musa.

The Buduma’s are known to be excellent users of reed-boats and they operate a large market for Boko Haram ISWAP jihadist in a location referred to as Fepewa and gegime in Niger republic.

https://eonsintelligence.com/details/1791166538/after-banning-western-music-and-sports-a-leaked-video-shows-how-isis-entertains-its-fighters-351521812

These are some of the tribes that are affiliated with and supports bokoharam/ISWAP.
Topic for discussion is, how do you expect the Nigerian government/military to deal with these tribes?

One of the mistake Nigerian military and in extension FG did was not buying up the stash of weapons in Post Ghadafi's Libya. The NIA, NSA should have played an active role in this, we would have killed 2 or more birds with one stone i.e getting sophisticated weapons at giveaway prices & to a reasonable extent controlled the illegal proliferation of arms in the west African sub-region, but we let that golden opportunity pass us. The then gov't of the day together with the service Chiefs were more interested in stashing their soakaways and Geepee tanks with hard currencies, the status quo still remains the same.
We are always reactive, being proactive is not our thing. Everyone leverages on any opportunity they get to enrich themselves, no sense of Patriotism whatsoever.

That money will be better off spent securing our borders, do you know how many arms Ghadafi amassed?

The man made a very intelligent, security savvy suggestion about buying up weapon stashes (for cheap) in what was then a government-less country and you did not even think thro it before dropping "secure borders" cliche. What is the special meaning of "secure borders"? . Every government has been trying to secure borders since xxxx BC and every government fails.

If Nigerians would just stop dropping generic buzzwords all over the place and get creative about solutions maybe things would be better.

I did something that really felt so satisfying to me, I was going somewhere and the route I followed I saw some heavily armed military guys in two gun trucks guarding a house (possibly) they escorted an Oga(prolly a General) all of them looking fierce. I had passed them but my mind pricked me to atleast show a lil appreciation for their efforts in securing the nation. When I approached them initially they were kind of apprehensive, but they later loosened up and I had a brief but fruitful engagement with them, as per na emergency meeting when I know plan for I felt heavy not dropping a lil cash with them, I had to get a chilled pack of Soft drinks and snacks for them. They were happy and the same time surprised. I was impressed and a little bit ashamed when I saw the very small boy manning the machine gun mounted on their Buffalo truck, wallahi that guy no pass 20yrs. I was like wtf, I'm sure this guy haven't even felt the warmth of a woman na him carry this kind responsibility for shoulder? I just codedly squeeze 2k into his palm, I was awed.
We talked about issues concerning banditry and the insurgency in the NE, it was really an eye opener.
I have always wanted to join the army via SSC/DSSC (Officer Cadre) but have being quite unlucky as them no dey even shortlist me for previous exercises atleast for interview to proof myself before the board despite having every goddamn qualification and age is ticking very fast. After gazing for a while I just said(in my mind o)army should stop putting babies in the frontlines, make them sef consider agbalagba like us wey wan contribute our own quota. grin
Overall the encounter was worth it.

No be lie!!!

Today a Journalist on a political program on TVC(JH) said KPIs(Key performance Index) should be set for service Chiefs so that we will have bearing and know if we are making progress or not and also justifying whatever the military is getting.
Again we've said similar things on this thread, for me the problem isn't really the military it is the political class that is frustrating efforts at defeating the insurgents.
By the time Bokoharam strike Abuja one or two times all man go wake up, that money they say they don't have will come out by force. I still feel Bokoharam deliberately restricted their operations in the northeast partly to concentrate their firepower in their strongholds, while giving the guys at Abuja a false sense of safety. If they decide to detonate an IED today at Abuja they will do so effortlessly. Possibly they don't want to disturb the politicians and those that matters so that the military will continue to be in a beggarly state.
How can one justify the fact that it was just last week that army got the money they budgeted for 2020(after 7 months) most of which is even recurrent expenditure.
Nigeria is not yet serious in tackling insecurity.
