A notorious bandit terrorizing Kaduna-Abuja Highway, Yellow Magaji has been gunned down by police operatives in Kaduna.

This was disclosed in a statement released by the public relations officer of the command, ASP Muhammed Jalige, dated November 27, 2021.

“On the 24th November, 2021 Operatives of the Kaduna Police Command in collaboration with the Federal Intelligence Bureau and Special Tactical Squad Force headquarters, Abuja on the directive of the Commissioner of Police CP Mudassiru Abdullahi psc (+) acted on credible intelligence and raided a facility known as SIR JOE GUEST INN located at NO.8 Sajo Street Unguwan Maigero area of Sabon Tasha in Chikun LGA of Kaduna State where a report of suspected bandits were said to have lodged.

While the cautiously coordinated raid was ongoing, the suspected armed bandits on sensing danger, took to their heels shooting sporadically leading to a gun duel with the Operatives.

One notorious bandit popularly called Yellow Magaji a.k.a Arushe was wounded in the shootout whereas his equally notorious partner, Yellow Ashana and others escaped with bullet wounds” the statement in part read

Jalige added that the injured bandit was thereafter taken to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital for possible resuscitation in a bid to obtain useful information but was confirmed dead on arrival by a medical doctor.

“After an extensive search of the scene, the Operatives recovered one AK47 rifle loaded with twenty three (23) rounds of 7.62 X 39mm live ammunition, fourteen (14) expended shells of the aforesaid ammunition and one Boxer motorcycle belonging to the bandits.

The owner of the facility who harbors the criminals was equally arrested for questioning. It is significant to state that the neutralized bandit Yellow Magaji until his demise was among a syndicate of bandits terrorising Kaduna-Abuja highway of recent” he said

He added that the state Commissioner of Police has called on members of the public to assist security operatives with prompt information as he assures them of absolute confidentiality while acting on the intel.

He also called on the law-abiding citizens to always be vigilant and security conscious of their immediate environment in order to avoid been preys to marauding criminals.

Was he arrested then shot... Because the handcuff presupposes police acted as judge jury and excutiooner... If that ain't the case ... Then NPF personnel are incompetent fools... They don't know the effect of handcuff on a dead person....

In a real war I don’t think you can capture this number of Soldiers alive. Something is definitely wrong somewhere cool

Best guess is they were captured in transit with no rifle in possession or they surrendered with the help of saboteurs

Cobra helicopter procurement is not rubbish. Nigeria has been presenting the request since GEJ era. PMB administration is rə presenting it again. Nigeria has the cash to pay for 12 Cobras over 2 years at N330bn.
Choppers are needed for Nigeria's peculiar security situation and we can't depend on a single supplier, Russia.
The Cobras last very long and they have long airframe fatigueife

Well I guess there are spare part compatibility with the Bell 412 we already fly, so that should ease maintenance. But I would've preferred if they still went for the Russian Hinds before the Americans begin to dictate to us where and when we should use those Cobras. Btw arent the Cobras we're interested in those old Isreali Air force airframes the Isrealis wanted to sell?

Gunmen Trapped inside Jos Prison after Attacking the Custodial Centre

The Medium Security Custodial Centre in Jos, Plateau State came under attack by gunmen who reportedly stormed the facility in large number with sophisticated weapons.

The invaders were said to have arrived at the Custodial Center at about 1720hrs and immediately made for the main gate where they engaged the armed squad personnel in a gun battle before breaking into the yard.

Although they gained entrance to the yard, they are however trapped within as men from sister security services were immediately mobilised to assist the armed guards to cordon the perimeter wall and the entire area.

Reinforcement from the response squad of the Service has also been mobilised to the center.

The situation is presently under control as the attackers firing power is being subdued by superior fire from a combined team of security agencies. Update will be made available as event unfolds.

The police in Anambra State, Nigeria’s South-east, said two of their officers have been shot dead and their bodies burnt by their attackers.

One officer is still missing, according to the police.

The slain officers were traveling in a vehicle with five other officers and three civilian drivers when they were ambushed by gunmen on Thursday in some community in Anambra, the police spokesperson in the state, Ikenga Tochukwu, said in a statement on Saturday.

“In the attack two police officers were killed and their bodies were burnt while one of the officers is still missing,” said Mr Tochukwu, a deputy superintendent of police.

A clip circulating on WhatsApp showed the armed men strutting around the corpses of two officers in the middle of a tarred road. Close to the corpses, were some discarded car tires.

“ESN! ESN! ESN! We are going! We are going!” One of the armed men is heard saying in the clip, indicating that the attack may have been carried out by the pro-Biafra group, IPOB (ESN is an armed wing of IPOB).

He said the other officers “fought their way out of the ambush” and were also able to rescue two out of the three civilian drivers.

Mr Tochukwu said the other officers “fought their way out of the ambush” and were also able to rescue two out of the three civilian drivers.

He said the armed men attacked a rescue team, hurling improvised explosive devices at police vehicles.

Controversy over the killing of 20-year-old woman

Meanwhile, the residents of Azia Community in Ihiala Local Government Area, where the ambush occurred, are accusing the police of killing a 20-year-old woman, Chidimma Ezeanochie.

Tonna Nwabueze, the president-general of Azia General Assembly, said in a petition to the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, that some police officers who came to their community in an armoured vehicle opened fire at Miss Ezeanochie and her brother, killing her instantly, while the brother survived.

Mr Nwabueze, in his petition, was apparently referring to the police rescue operation in the community.

“About 100 meters from the site of this incident, the police equally opened fire on a Sienna Space Bus parked by a block industry,” he said.

The community described Miss Ezeanochie’s killing as “gruesome, wicked and totally unacceptable”, and is demanding justice from the police.

The police, in their reaction to the accusation, said, “Throughout the operation no innocent citizen, talk less of children were sighted in the area.”

“The peddlers of this misinformation anchored their claims on the fact that they saw an Armoured Personnel Carrier passing through Azia/Osumoghu junction when the alleged incident happened,” the police spokesperson said.

He said the Commissioner of Police in Anambra, Echeng Echeng, is saddened by Miss Ezeanochie’s killing and expressed his condolences to her family.

Mr Echeng said the police are working with other security agencies in the state and the communities “to put an end to insecurity in that part of the State and make sure such incident does not re-occur”.

Anambra, like other states in the South-east, has been plagued by violent killings over the agitation for an independent republic of Biafra which is championed by IPOB.

A soldier and four IPOB members were killed in October in the state during a deadly clash.

Anambra recently had a peaceful governorship election amidst the fear that IPOB was going to disrupt the poll.

About 25 communities have been deserted in Munya Local Government and Shiroro Local Governments in Niger State against the backdrop of incessant activities of gunmen suspected to be armed bandits.

The bandits were said to have freely attacked the communities for four consecutive days without any respite from the security agencies.

The joint team of vigilante groups and military personnel on duty in the area were said to have run for dear lives while they allegedly warned the villagers to abandon their residential houses.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that about 1,450 persons including women and children were said to have been abducted by the rampaging armed bandits, killing dozens of the locals.

It was further learnt that the armed men have taken over the entire communities where they carried out attacks on the 25 villages surrounding the 11 wards of the local government council.

Nigerian Tribune reliably learnt over the weekend that the armed bandits have so far killed no fewer than about 55 persons in the last four days in the communities including Zazzaga, Chubani, Kujeta, Kaure, Pupago and Luwe all in Munya and Shiroro local government areas of the state.

It was further gathered that the villagers have relocated to an Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in the area.

The armed bandits were said to have stormed the communities in a convoy of motorcycles numbering about 50 with each carrying three passengers armed with AK-47, machine guns, hand grenades and shot sporadically from all directions, forcing the locals to run into the bush.

They were said to have invaded the communities in the early hours of Thursday and carried out the deadly attack through Friday.

Although no official statement from any of the security agencies, the Chairman of Shiroro local government council, Comrade Suleiman Dauda Chukuba, told this reporter that two of his brothers were also abducted by the armed bandits.

He said his younger and elder brothers and some members of their families were kidnapped by the bandits in Kaure village.

“They have been making calls to some of my relatives but they have not made any requests for ransom,” he said.

In a separate phone call on Sunday, Chairman, Munya Local Government Council, Alhaji Garba Mohammed Dazza, pleaded that he was not in the mood to speak to this reporter as a result of the unfortunate situation in his local government.

You can’t say peaceful until we start a massive operation. As long as we continue waiting on them to attack an FOB I can’t say the NE is becoming peaceful.

We need to corner them and send these bastards to meet their creators.

Is death rate from violent crimes increasing or decreasing?
I would say the insecurity has shifted to the northwest and it is currently at its peak in the northwest.

The Death Rate has reduced in NE. Insurgents in NE barely come and shoot in communities like what is happening in NE.

Tho it’s not really easy to have access to Civilians here as we all have towns guarded by Security Forces.

Northeast is More of Direct confrontation between Insurgents and Security Personnel.

We are still watching….
