The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has charged Kenneth Minimah, a former Chief of Army Staff, with fraud involving alleged misappropriation of N13 billion meant for arms purchase.

Mr Minimah was charged alongside an erstwhile Chief of Accounts and Budget of the Nigerian Army, A. O. Adetayo, a major-general, and the former Director, Finance and Accounts of the Nigerian Army, R. I. Odi, a brigadier-general, at the Federal Capital Territory High in Abuja.

NA sniper

Serious stuff 50 Cal. Sniper Rifle , with Thermal night optic sight. It looks like the British AS50 made by Accuracy International UK.

This rifle is very effective in the hands of a trained operator, 1.5km accuracy assured. That means that at 1km away you can put one round into the engine block of a technical ( HMG carrying soft and skinned pick up truck) and Engine is KAPUT, it's going nowhere. An incendiary round into the cabin and all the Boko combatants are toasted.

You really don't need to be calling for air support.

However, l don't think we seem to employ this tactic. It was very common among British marines in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Those people cannot depend on grants and aids all their lives. They need to be stimulated to earn their own living now that they've been resettled. If steps like this are not taken, 20 years from now many of them will still be dependent on aids.

Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, yesterday, raised the alarm that the north is turning to killing field by bandits and other terrorists operating in the region.

The Sultan, who noted that bandits were holding the region, especially North West, spellbound, expressed concerned that most of the killings were not being reported or underreported.

That’s not how to go about it with such vindictiveness. Saying I’m paid for not for my love for humanity is also like saying the military are fighting insurgency for their salaries and not for the Love of Nigeria. cool

Definitely I know people can’t leave on stipends forever. In Humanitarian we transition from Emergency to Developmental. But Borno remains quite dicey as it’s very hard to transition.

The Governor needs to sit down with stakeholders before sending ultimatum here and there. He is always having this belief of NGOs profiteering from the crises. It’s just like blaming a casket maker that he is praying for people to die so they can come and buy caskets. cool

I’ll be giving my response today on this Government-Humanitarian wahala in Borno.

The man is failing to understand we should work hand in hand. He is trying to drive a one man affair. Yes, he definitely has good intentions of resettling his kinsmen, but he needs to sit down with stakeholders on these modalities. cool

The Niger Government on Friday said the Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, has taken over some communities in Shiroro and Borgu forests sharing border with Benin Republic.

Ahmed Matane, Secretary to the State Government, SSG, revealed this to newsmen shortly after the screening exercise of the 2022 budget proposal of his office at the State House of Assembly in Minna.

He, however, said security agencies are working seriously to eliminate the sects who had taken over some communities in the forests under the National Park Service around Babana area, sharing border with Benin Republic.

“Government has taken appropriate measures to eliminate them from those locations, security agencies have been doing a lot of operations in those areas,” he said.

Nigerian Army Lied, Didn’t Rescue 20 Policemen As Claimed – Yobe Police Command

BY SAHARAREPORTERS, NEW YORKDEC 10, 2021

The Yobe State Police Command has said troops of the Nigerian Army didn’t rescue 20 Nigerian Police Force personnel as claimed by the military.

The Acting Director, Defence Media Operations, Brig Gen Bernard Onyeuko, had in a statement on Thursday said troops of Operation Hadin Kai rescued the 20 policemen allegedly abducted by suspected terrorists.

File Photo
He had said, “Cumulatively, a total 62 terrorist elements were neutralized and 28 of them were arrested, while 54 assorted arms and 144 rounds of different calibre of ammunitions were recovered. Also, a total of 101 rustled livestock were recovered and 20 kidnapped NPF personnel, who were abducted when the terrorists attacked the Police Division, were rescued by own troops at Buni Yadi within the period.”

Reacting in a statement on Friday, the Yobe State Police Command’s spokesperson, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, asked Nigerians to “disregard, ignore the said ‘Kidnap & Rescue Claim’ as false, mischievous and fake.”

The statement added, “The attention of Yobe State Police Command has been drawn to a trending news making the rounds on both social media and the mainstream media platforms to the effect that “Twenty (20) Police personnel kidnapped by Boko-Haram/ISWAP Insurgents during an attack on Buni-Yadi Police Division in Gujba Local Government Area of the state were rescued by troops of the Nigerian Army (Operation Hadin Kai).”

“The news item was further replicated in many online publications. It’s disheartening to note that this fake news/story has been published in many media outlets, without seeking for clarification from the requisite police authorities.

“It’s even more worrisome that such a misleading story is alleged to have emanated from military sources.

“However, in view of the sensitive nature of the issue, and the prevalent security situation in the state, it’s deemed imperative that such negative impression must be erased from the minds of the public by setting the records straight. It’s equally important that the actual facts and circumstances surrounding the incident must be brought to light, for the sake of the families of police personnel serving in Yobe State.

“In this regard therefore, the command wishes to reiterate as follows: The story or news item (on the alleged kidnaping of 20 police personnel in Buni-Yadi and their rescue by troops) is misleading, an utter fabrication and fake news, as no single police personnel was kidnapped from Buni-Yadi town on the day of the alleged incident, or at all; On Tuesday 30th November 2021, suspected members of Boko-Haram/ISWAP insurgents had attacked the Buni-Yadi Police Station in Gujba Local Govt. Area of the state and burnt down the structures, but there was neither any loss of life, nor was any Police personnel kidnapped, or declared missing.

“All the conventional personnel of the division, as well as the PMF personnel, had been accounted after the incident; the general public is therefore, by this press release from the Yobe State Police Command, enjoined to discountenance/disregard/ignore the said ‘Kidnap & Rescue Claim’ as false, mischievous and fake.

“It should be pointed out further that the said claim of ‘rescue of the 20 personnel’ had failed to disclose their identities; their ranks; the formations they belong to; or which medical facility they were taken to for check-ups; or who were they handed over to; or when and where were they handed over, etc. The absence of all these vital information in the publication means that the story is nothing but false, misleading and a misinformation.

“While reiterating the commitment and dedication of Police personnel currently serving in or deployed to Yobe State, in sustaining the relative peace and security in the State, we call on the entire members of the public to continue to cooperate and support the command, as always.”

When you read claims and counter claims by our security services on this incident in Yobe. One is literally left speechless.

The depth of deceit, misinformation and disinformation from supposed high standing armed forces institutions, is SHOCKING.

Can we really believe anything these institutions say ❓it's a sad day ,they the NPF have confirmed what we either already know or have suspected .

Maybe they didn't have time, it possible they were rounding up prisoners when N.A crashed party,
Or N. A. Exaggerated rescue... Maybe the station was 1 minute from falling and the troops saved the day....
No way N.A will cook up lie against a federal institution when they know they will defend themselves.
