NIGERIAN AIR FORCE DEPLOYS SPECIAL FORCES TO GUSAU

Following the recent attack on Bawan Daji community in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State where some lives were lost, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, directed that Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Special Forces be deployed to Gusau, as part of efforts to stop the incessant banditry attacks. Accordingly, the NAF Special Forces, who were trained in asymmetric warfare, were airlifted from Kaduna with the NAF C-130 Hercules aircraft to complement the efforts of other security forces on ground to prevent further attack on innocent citizens. The personnel and other supporting staff would operate from the recently established 207 Quick Response Group in Gusau, where they would reinforce the existing Regiment personnel in the Unit in support of the ongoing Operation SHARAN DAJI in the State.

In his address to the troops at Gusau shortly before their deployment earlier today, 3 April 2018, the Air Officer Commanding Special Operations Command, Air Vice Marshal Ismaila Kaita, announced that the Special Forces would be further deployed to remote areas of Zamfara State, where they would be engaged in Internal Security operations. He therefore further urged them to effectively utilize their experience and training to protect the lives and properties of the people of Zamfara State. He added that the NAF leadership expects the Special Forces to exhibit the highest standards of professionalism and respect for human rights in discharging their duties.

In recent times, the NAF has taken additional measures to enhance its contributions to tackling Internal Security challenges in the country, in fulfilment of its constitutional responsibility. In addition to earlier established Quick Response Groups and Wings and the deployment of NAF Special Forces to various states, the NAF recently established Quick Response Wings at Agatu, Doma and Nguroje in Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba States respectively to bring security closer to those in the relatively remote areas. Arrangements are also ongoing to establish a new Quick Response Group in Jalingo, Taraba State to superintend the activities of the 3 new Quick Response Wings.

State governors don’t have as much power as it seems, especially when it comes to securing their states, they aren’t truly the chief security officers of their states unless we introduce state police.
Federal police can still provide oversight.

State police that failed you in the past you want to reintroduce again?

You know.....i was talking to an AFSF, was in the north east, then deployed to Kaduna, to counter the herdsmen....he actually told me the killer herdsmen are BHT, that things are just hush hush not to cause panic.

Boko haram is too broad a word to use, they are specifically FLN according to last year's US intel.

I'm sure buhari knows about this too,the Fulani herdsmen issue can make this country burn.

The sentiment of using "Fulani" behind the herdsmen is where Nigerians have a problem, it sticks better on the president, i wonder why we don't say "Kanuri" Boko haram or "Igbo" Kidnappers.

A better quote since our Vice President is from the S'West would be to say " Yoruba Ritualists" that the Vice President has failed to curb, It really begins to look silly when we broad swipe an entire ethnic group based on the actions of a few.

the forest cover in kenya has reduced to about 6% and this year after kenya realized our rivers were drying up and there was continuing dry spells around the country.so the government, institutions, private sector e.t.c have committed themselves to increase our forest cover to 10% as recommended by U.N. Africa does realise how much desertification is affecting them especially their security, most of our economies are sustained by agriculture sector.i believe the desertification of Northern Nigeria and neighbouring countries in the north is having negative effects on nigeria also especially security-wise. bombs and bullets wont solve anything if the real issues aren't dealt with

COMMISSIONING SPECIALIST OFFICERS PARADE 2018

The Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) General Samson Mwathethe represented the President and Commander in Chief HE Uhuru Kenyatta in commissioning specialist cadets at the Kenya Military Academy (KMA) at Lanet in Nakuru County.

During the spectacular event at the KMA parade square, the CDF read the C-in-C’s commissioning message and witnessed the commissioning cadets take an Oath of Allegiance to serve as newly-commissioned officers in the Kenya Defence Forces.

KMA Commandant Major General George Owinow led General Mwathethe in awarding trophies to Senior Under Officer Peter Kabara Githinji for being the Best Cadet in Professional Studies and Winner of Professional Studies Award and Cadet Adjutant Linet Akoth Okore scooped the Second Best Cadet in the same category and a Winner of Professional Shield. Junior Under Officers Michael Njau and Jackline Wango Murage were also awarded for being position one and two in the Character Development category respectively.

In his speech, the CDF urged all the newly-commissioned officers to internalize, uphold and always live by the military values instilled into them during their training at KMA.

“For the graduands the curriculum offered to you at the KMA is about leader development. It is broken into professional military training, social engineering and character development. The essence is to produce officers who are prepared for intellectual, ethical, social and physical demands across the broad spectrum of changes in professional military service.” Said Gen Mwathethe

Citing the great respect that KDF has earned across the region due to the exemplary performances in various missions, General Mwathethe asked the cadets to always work as professionals in the military and also in their professions so that they further maintain the great name of the defence forces.

The Chief of the Defence Forces further applauded the officers for their exemplary performance during their basic training. He congratulated the KMA Commandant, officers and all instructors for ensuring a smooth and effective training environment that has enabled the academy to achieve its training objective.

The Chief of Defence Forces also urged the officers to always uphold the loyalty they have shown since they joined the academy and also adhere to KDF values which have made KDF a symbol of nationhood.

“I therefore urge you to safeguard the trust bestowed on you by discharging your duties selflessly and diligently. You integrity should never be questioned and you should guard against irresponsible behaviour likely to jeopardize your personal health and safety and the reputation of the KDF. ”

He concluded by congratulating parents and family members of the officers.

“I also want to congratulate the proud parents and family members and friends of the commissioning officers who are here today. Although the focus today is on the officers who are here graduating, congratulations are due for each family for encouraging and supporting the officers to get this far”.
