Boss no vex abeg... Do you have any clue concerning recruitment this year for officer cadre? Its 2years now and nothing seems to be happening in that direction. I hold the notion that the army is grossly short of manpower, if algeria with a population less than half of ours has a strength of over a million soldiers I wonder why that of Nigeria is different putting into cognisance our treacherous landmass. Some of us can't wait to join the party in the NE.
it's being done lowkey. thats for short service oo. but dssc is always being advertised. since its for professionals.

Population as well as equipment matters my brother the US has 0.4℅ of its population actively serving in the armed forces aside reserve. You can't wish away the advantage you will have with numbers which bokoharam seems to have the edge over our troops. Most a times when this guys attack they use their population to good use and overrun a checkpoint or base, no matter his a soldier is trained e.g special forces they can only try to contain an overwhelming force till backup comes if not they will run for their lives(Tactical maneuver), they too are humans.

Nigeria has issues with funding when it comes to the military. The president and military chiefs want more capabilities but the legislative body of the government and other political actions keeps disallowing this. We're really understaffed but money is needed to accommodate more personnel.

I will get some information concerning your request and tag you immediately I get a response.

Nigeria is punching far below its weight. Nigeria should be up there with the ranks of Egypt. Lets not forget this is Africa;s richest economy. Lets not forget this is the country with Africa's second biggest external reserves in dollars. Lets not forget this is a country that has the advantage of having an option of not wasting her precious foreign reserves by paying for weapons with commodities. Lets not forget this is a country that has been in a defacto state of war for 15 years. There are times i believe Nigerian leaders are Manchurian puppets....some of the things going on in this country defy human comprehension. TEN years of war....TEN YEAR...nothing to show for it..except a couple of helicopters and super mushank trainers. JF -17...the deal was reached upon 2015..its been three years we are still waiting for THREE aircrafts for test an evaluation. At this rest it will be 2045 before Nigeria acquires a squadron of the aircraft..thats if they do at all.

The ineptitude, non-chalance and stupidity of Nigeria's Military leaders stretches the capacity of the human brain to comprehend.

NIGERIAN AIR FORCE COMMENCES 3-DAY SPECIAL SURGICAL INTERVENTION FOR IDPS IN BARKIN LADI

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commenced a 3-day special surgical intervention programme as well as medical outreach for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and other residents of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State. This is part of the NAF efforts at alleviating the plights of persons affected by the recent violence in the area. The special medical outreach, which is holding within the vicinity of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) Hipan in Barkin Ladi, has been attracting a large turnout of IDPs as well as residents who expressed gratitude to the NAF for its humanitarian gesture and concern for the wellbeing of Nigerians. During the 3-day outreach, which is expected to end on 19 July 2018, patients with surgical needs would be operated on by NAF surgeons at the 563 NAF Hospital Jos while patients with other medical needs would be treated and given drugs as deemed necessary. Medicated glasses and treated mosquito nets would also be distributed during the exercise. A total of 3,000 patients are expected to benefit from this special intervention by the NAF medical team.

The first day of the medical outreach was attended by the Director of Health, Barkin Ladi LGA, Mr Badung Daylop, who represented the Executive Chairman of Barkin Ladi LGA, Honourable Dickson Chollom. The Chairman appreciated the laudable effort of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, in rendering humanitarian services through the provision of free healthcare to the people of the LGA. He noted that the medical outreach would bring great relief to his people after the recent ordeals. During the first day of the medical outreach, the medical team from NAF Headquarters and 563 NAF Hospital, Jos conducted medical check-ups on the patients and screened those who potentially had surgical cases and thereafter immediately conveyed them to 563 NAF Hospital, where surgeries were carried out. Furthermore, eyeglasses and drugs were distributed to patients. Other medical activities carried out were de-worming of little children as well as distribution of treated mosquito nets.

It would be recalled that the NAF on 25 June 2018, deployed an Mi-35P combat helicopter and an Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft to Plateau State in support of efforts aimed at quelling the crisis that erupted in the State. The medical intervention is a follow-up to the earlier deployment as part of NAF’s efforts at enhancing civil-military relationship.

Nigeria currently has the largest foreign external reserve in Africa. Wetin you yarn na true.

I made mention about something similar here especially while talking about the tethered blimp. Nigeria lacks some little capabilities that are even expected of it.

This is not an issue of money but something being influenced politically. The CNS wants frigate, corvette etc but politically you need to find a way to make them approve of this. It's not the military or president's fault.

We have the funds but then maybe politicians are being intimidated by military capability. A complete threat assessment for the nation should be done and an executive order should be signed by the president to release funding for the military.
