The Oba owes no one any explanation. He said it and he meant every word of what he said. The message is clear

I just advise those who he addressed to make the necesary adjustment cos when it starts now, Na you go bear the brunt

Oba Akiolu, For saying this, I have found a new level of respect for you.

Any Shidioma, Shidioke or Shiwere who wants electoral post should face Aba, Umuahia or Enugu

BTW this is the sign of things to come in Lagos and the entire Southwest after the election
Stop this your bigotry, it will get you nowhere. we should be preaching tolerance and not drumming the drums of war like common illiterates. Igbos need Yorubas and vice versa, let people vote with their common sense. of course common sense is to vote Ambode

Enough of this

I will advise people to desist from insulting the Oba of Lagos. Oba Akiolu is the Oba of Lagos; all Lagosians and immigrants from other regions of the country should respect him.

All Lagosians should go out and vote for the candidate of their choice on the 11th of April without fear.

I will enjoin all Lagosians both indigenes and immigrants to vote for continuity so that progress can continue and it also presents a good opportunity to be politically aligned with the center for the first time since 1999.

Seriously the Igbos should not allow themselves to be used as a political tool in the hand of the politicians.

Will Agbaje abandon his Yoruba heritage or even the Oba of Lagos in solidarity with his Igbo supporters should in case he defeat Ambode? I can't see that happening because instead he will rather settle his differences with the monarch while the Igbo populations will be left to lick their wounds.

The Igbos should play their politics with decorium with been seen as antagonizing their host communities or putting themselves in an unfriendly position with the other inhabitants of Lagos.

Let the drummers of war becareful.

I pray they even understand what u wrote ooo...with the way the igbo goes about their tin ehn, one will conclude that they re wise but times without number they have turned out to be gullible...What re they going to meet the Oba and telling him that they notice he his angry they voted GEJ...nothing is more inferiorating than that now...very very odd.

KazeemDiary:
The palace of the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has issued a statement, clarifying the Oba’s statement when Igbo leaders in Lagos visited him on Sunday.
Read full statement below.

THE PALACE MAKES FURTHER CLARIFICATION ON THE STATEMENT BY THE OBA OF LAGOS.
‎My attention has been drawn to a publication in a national newspaper where HRM Oba Riliwanu Akinolu was alleged to have threatened Igbos in Lagos to make them vote for Ambode.

Last Sunday, all honorary Eze Ndigbos in Lagos paid a courtesy call to HRM Oba Akinolu. At the meeting the visitors praised the Oba for his fatherly support for and cooperation with Igbos in. Lagos. They assured him of their continued good neighborliness with other tribes in Lagos and support everything that’ll further strengthen that harmony.

Oba Akiolu on his part acknowledged the enviable performance of Governor Fashola and his contribution to the growth of investments in Lagos. He gave the assurance that he is not disturbed or angry with South-East and South- South votes for President Jonathan as perceived by the Eze Ndigbos. The Obas thereafter called on the Igbos chiefs to show appreciation to Lagos State by supporting his candidate Mr. Ambode for continuity of excellence as they have earlier promised.
He assured them of his continued support‎ and assistance where needed and the meeting ended with the traditional breaking of kolas, alligator pepper, and bitter kola and pouring of liberation on the ground. It was within this context that that the tradition of Lagos with regard to the lagoon came up. It was noted that whoever works against the throne and the interest and peaceful co-existence of Lagos would end up in the lagoon as per tradition.

2.Oba Akiolu stated further that the Igbo people have not betrayed the throne. Lagos has also not betrayed the Igbo people. Lagos has done so much to make the Igbos comfortable and to prosper. For this, we expect reciprocal respect and understanding. The Oba of Lagos prays that the Lagoon and the throne will continue to bless and protect all those who reside and visit Lagos.

3. Oba Akiolu is the father of all irrespective of tribe, religion or political persuasion. In Lagos, we have an old traditional proverb that relates to the Lagoon. The Lagoon is unique to Lagos. The proverb stresses the need for unity and understanding when you do business in an environment and in this case when you live and do business in Lagos.
Oba Akiolu prays for peace for the land of Lagos and prosperity for all its inhabitants.
Signed: Chief Lateef Aderibigbe Ajose, Opeluwa of Lagos

Enough of your rant, everyone is an immigrant in Lagos even the Oba. Lagos is a metroplitan City and no man's land. The population of non-yorubas is greater than Yorubas in Lagos. This land, is for all, and shall for ever remain...NO MAN'S LAND.

The silly blighter obviously got a call from his paymasters and quickly recanted.

I have said it times without number that this ex olopa will be ruined by his locquasciousness. He simply cannot keep his basket mouth in

check.

It is indeed a tragedy for Lagos to transform from the reign of eminent gentlemen like Adeyinka Oyekan and Adeniji Adele to this Tinubu

imposed upstart who from his names and actions is clearly bereft any royal dignity. He certainly is no blue blood.

At least three daily national newspapers cannot be wrong. Instead of weak effort at trying to correct what the oba said, the palace should come up with an unreserved apology to the Igbos and lets move on.
The audio of his speech is readily available online, they should stop the denial abeg.

I have a relative that lives in the midst of Igbos in Lagos. That area is mostly populated by Igbos. In fact, he is the only Yoruba in his compound.

Beautiful houses everywhere but they are blessed with bad road network. The road is so bad and epileptic that even small car owners avoid that area.

I asked him why they've been neglected for so long and he told me that area voted for PDP instead of Fashola.

When the chips are down, the Igbos would be the ones to suffer the most. They need to be smart and not blinded by sentiments. APC or PDP, vote for your choice not the choice of your kinsmen.

Let people be civilized here! The two candidates here are Lagosians. The Oba has no right on earth to directly or indirectly threaten humans. We all were created by GOD. Whatever you didn't create you cannot kill unless by the permission of the creator. Making such statements of lagoon or wateva with the igbos is a GRAVE INSULT! If anything at all, he is suppose to plead with the igbos for support.
Just like the no combination of country in the world can Stand Isreal today, so also no human can stand Nigeria Isrealites. Ask Mko

Then do your worst. Someone is trying to clarify things, yet you are trying to maintain your stance. Remember to check ur BP now because you are still going to suffer same defeat during the presidential elections. Does Igbos need to be reminded or threatened before they know that voting against the state you reside in is reckless? Do they even need to publicise it even if they aren't going to vote for the opposition party?

But i thought they said the Igbos are not relevant in Lagos election? why is it that everything about the Lagos election is all about them? The fact is that if the Igbos and other non indigenes vote for JK, plus the vote he will get from his Yoruba supporters, he may likely win the election! Don't be confused by the presidential election because some yorubas and other people who voted APC in the presidential election may vote Jimi Agbaje for governore
