Commissioning of propaganda mill. Lovely. Before anyone goes throwing tantrums like a stark raving lunatic, propaganda is part and parcel of government. None survives nor thrives without it. Nigerians always tend to see the word "propaganda" as necessarily evil. |

Akpabio Hands Pioneer A Parting Gift Joy will overflow today in Akwa Ibom State’s newspaper house, Pioneer House, as the board, management and staff of Akwa Ibom Newspaper Corporation (AKNC) throw their gate open to visitors who have beaten their way to witness the inauguration of the magnificent AKNC Press Hall housing a state-of-the-art rotary press and computer-to-plate (CTP) pre-press machine. The Goss Community Press acquired for the newspaper organization by the administration of Chief Godswill Akpabio meets the standard and specification for modern newspaper production and will enable The Pioneer titles wear beautiful and attractive looks like other top ranking newspapers published in Nigeria and outside the country. The general manager/editor-in-chief of AKNC, Mr Udo Silas, was full of smiles yesterday as he stood in the expansive new press hall admiring the rotary machine roll out exquisite copies of The Pioneer newspaper. Silas who started the process of rebranding of Pioneer newspaper when he was appointed general manager in 2007 described the facilities as a fulfillment of the promise made by Governor Akpabio to transform Pioneer to a modern newspaper organization that prints with her own state-of-the-art facilities. He thanked the governor for living true to his words and doing so much for the newspaper and promised that he will never disappoint the trust and confidence reposed on him. Silas promised to produce a newspaper that would be the pride of Akwa Ibom State and called for support from all to give the state a befitting medium of communication in print. Earlier, Silas had described the renewed process in bringing back the rebranded Pioneer newspaper as a rebirth and solicited the support of staff to enable the corporation deliver good services to the people of Akwa Ibom State and beyond. The general manager who was chairman at the special editorial meeting to repackage the new Pioneer said he would feel fulfilled that he, with the support of AKNC staff, produced Pioneer newspapers that would meet high standard which Akwa Ibom under Governor Akpabio has been known for. I am sure he would have spent 30bn Naira...nonsense |
Re: Gov. Akpabio Completes The State Newspaper (the Pioneer)printing Press -Pictures by notobs: 3:59pm On Jun 10, 2015 |
Keneking: So what if he spent 30bn! Was the project delivered? is it serving the state? has it created additional avenue for employment? These are the pertinent question to ask, not cast aspersion on a man that set out to change in improve the decayed infrastructure and build new ones in the state. This facility is poised to also print for all the budding newspapers in the state, which will bring additional profits. and it will cutdown on the cost of running Govt. in the long run as most of the printing work that govt did externally will now be handled internally in this govt. press. |

Akpabio was known to have local and international media in his pocket during his term as Executive Governor. He was loud. I am sure that this press would serve his personal interest. |
