2013, June 12 in UniUyo, I almost lost my life because of the strike. Went to withdraw money from the ATM that evening coming out on Ikpa road, gun shots were coming from the front and before I knew it, I was at the Uru Ekpa Road .... See speed.

The fact that the structure isn't a storey building as seen in most institutions doesn't make it "bad"

Most of us lived in off campuses with similar structure. In fact we left the uni "skyscrapers" because of the filth.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the hostel. Some of the "sky rappers" in Lagos were built as a result of inadequate land (space). I've been to Unilag and I wonder how the student survive in such a "sardine-like" environment. Uyo has more than ENOUGH land to build one floor, bungalow, et al.

Nor be by skyscraper. Some smell pass poo.

That is a federal university so i dont really understand your reasoning, asking Akwa Ibom state government to do something about the hostels.

When I was in UniUyo, PreFab caught fire and I guess it was because of an electrical appliance. Then they built Hall 3B with blocks all through. It was with woods. I am not surprised if electricity caused this too.

Uniuyo no they try at all almost all the rooms in each hostel have faulty sockets

My UniUyo. The other fire was in my First Year in PreFab now it's in Annex. Perm Site and M2 should be prepared though.

I can't believe that hostel got such a lovely name.
Anyway what l like in that hostel based on the picture was the green grass.

Misplaced priority of our leaders. look at the structure of a university hostel. Yet they borrow billions to build a stadium that is put into use once a year. The Uyo Stadium cost over a billion naira. it is already being overgrown by weeds now I guess.

They should storm the office of the Dean of Students Affairs since the VC's office is no longer in Town Campus. A lot of things are not done well in that school and people just behave as if it doesn't concern them. Where's the SUG? UniUyo my UniUyo a.k.a University of Ikpa Road!

There's grass in front of the hostels around Little Play House, no grass in front of the hostels from LAW building down

I can't agree less...though it's a Federal Government property, if you want to have a legacy or if you feel as a governor you have no other job to do, invest it in the building of the minds of the people. Improve their education, i bet you, no natural disaster can take away their knowledge but it can destroy the infrastructure. When there's improvement in the minds of the people, they will value the physical infrastructures and protect them long after the administration is over. #justsayingthough!

Tell that to the federal government because it is a federal university and not Akwa Ibom state owned university
