Did I see clean energy. Nuclear power energy is never clean. It's just that the nuclear reactor can run none stop for 25 years if properly managed! !! grin

Let us hope the Nuclear power revolution takes Nigeria from third world to First world.

Nuclear power has the capability to provide thousands of megawatts of clean energy that will power our industrial development and make our nation stronger.

At the same time....we can explore other sources of energy. Like waste and solar powered forms.

Considering the tremendous hazard associated with nuclear power stations. The affected states (or neighbouring states) should reject this asap.
I'm worried about the Kogi site, God have mercy! For all I care, the Akwa Ibom site is okay.

What is a lie abt the statement. The statement said installed capacity which means that is the max we can generate if all the plants are working at full capacity and we all know they are not working at full capacity that is why we are hanging in btw 2000 and 4000MW! Learn to read and understand english !

If u know how a nuclear facility works u would know Nigeria is not ready for it. Things that can go wrong are just too many and our attitude towards things in this country is just to bad.

You sound very unintelligent. I wonder the kind of school you attended. Pick up a map and check where Akwa Ibom is located geographically, that's if you can interpret a simple map anyway. To someone like you, SE =Igbo, SW=Yoruba and North =Hausa. Guy stop displaying your crass ignorance on a public forum.
You appear to be incapable of a civilised argument and you reek of loathsome stupid.ity. You think you are so smart? Or you think you know more of Nigeria? Next time you want to comment on a forum, mind the language you use. This is the same thing Dele Giwa and Bola Ige did, I'm sure you'll soon meet them. Please get a book and read rather than unearth your intellectual ineptitude, lack of social etiquette and gross malapropriation of language.

I don't know what kind of school most of you attended, or is our education now this bad in Nigeria? Basic primary school Geography use to teach cardinal points as follows:
4 cardinal points: N, S, E, W
8 cardinal points: N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW.

Perhaps for emphasis, South is referred to as South-South. Though grammatically incorrect, but it's part of our accepted lexicon in Nigeria, the same way "follow follow", "waka waka" etc are acceptable.

We can't manage our power stations and it is nuclear we want to manage? I know what failed nuclear plant have done to some countries, Nigeria's own will be disaster. Pls don't bring it in the SE oo!
Re: Nigeria Picks Kogi, Akwa Ibom For Nuclear Power Plants by babestella: 8:53pm On Jun 20, 2015
This is no good news o, nuclear? Nigerians must protest this move, it's dangerous to have a nuclear plant in Nigeria despite the gains, the destruction that follows a nuclear accident is inestimable. We need to be very careful with our desperation to get stable power supply. Russian are only looking for where to make money, when the other side happens, we'll be left to our faith.

Nuclear
Nuclear power plants use the heat produced by nuclear fission to generate steam that drives turbines, like in fossil fuel plants. However, no greenhouse gases are produced in this fission process, and only small amounts are produced across the whole fuel cycle.
Nuclear fuel can be used in a reactor for several years. The used fuel that remains after this time must be stored and then either recycled to make new fuel or carefully disposed of. However, because the amount of fuel used to generate electricity is so much less than that used in fossil fuel plants it is much more practical to do this with used nuclear fuel than with the wastes and emissions from fossil fuels.
Nuclear power plants can run for many months without interruption, providing reliable and predictable supplies of electricity.

Its no lie , if anything ,its inaccurate on the low side.Nigeria currently has an installed power capacity of around 10,000 - 11,000 MWts of which 3500 - 4500 MWts are online at any given day.

As far as anyone observing Nigeria from outside is concerned , Cross-Rivers ,Akwa - Ibom and even Rivers state will be naturally taken as the South - East of Nigeria.
Your belly acheing about it will change nothing.
