Osogbo —From Osun State chapter of Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday came a
warning
that the state may be plunged into serious
security crises, if salaries are not paid within
seven days.
This is just as the party warned the governor’s
aides against insulting people that are making
efforts to bail the state out of the “quagmire”,
Governor Aregbesola had already admitted the
state is in.
Governor Rauf Aregbesola and Senator Iyiola
Omisore
The PDP, in a statement issued in Osogbo by the
party’s Director of Media and Strategy, Prince
Diran Odeyemi, said from all indications, the
June
30 deadline for the payment of salaries by
Aregbesola, rather than solving the problem, is
heightening tension among residents.
According to him, the situation was not helped
by
the demands of Ramadan period and urged
Ogbeni Aregbesola to ensure workers are paid by
21st of June to stem rising tension among the
residents.

Religion / The Mathematics Of Success By Pastor Adeboye by 240naija(m): 12:44pm On Jun 14, 2015
GENERAL Overseer of the Redeemed Christian
Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare
Adeboye, an astute mathematics teacher recently
established a link between the subject and
success in every human endeavour.
Speaking at a special prayer programme
organised for leaders and potential leaders in the
country with a theme: “Not by might” at the
RCCG national headquarters, Throne of Grace
Parish, Ebute-Meta, Lagos, Adeboye revealed two
linear equations to success, supporting each
equation with relevant bible passages, stressing
that he believed in using mathematical equations
whenever he needed to explain important issues
in a brief manner.
According to him, mathematics is the language
of life, noting “whenever I have to say something
that I believe is very deep and I have to say it in
a very brief manner, I turn back to mathematics
because it is the language of life and you can
say
a lot within a short period if you use
mathematics.” more....

Tears flowed freely on Friday as President
Muhammadu Buhari; his wife, Aisha; and the wife
of the Vice-President, Dolapo Osinbajo, met with
two women whose daughters are among the over
200 schoolgirls abducted last year by members of
the Boko Haram sect in Chibok, Borno State.
The emotional-laden encounter took place inside
the Defence House, Abuja, where Buhari currently
operates from.
Mrs. Osinbajo had earlier led the two women to a
meeting with Hajia Buhari, who later led them
into another round of meeting with Buhari.
By the time they emerged from the meeting and
posed for photographs, the two women again
broke down in tears while Mrs. Buhari held them
tightly.
Mrs. Osinbajo also joined in the weeping.
The Vice-President’s wife, with misty eyes, later
told journalists what transpired during the two
separate meetings.
She said, “Hajia Aisha Buhari had for many
months wanted to visit Chibok. She also wanted
to meet with the mothers.
“Today, we had an opportunity for them to meet
face-to-face. We had two of the mothers who
still have their daughters missing after a year.
“Hajia met with them, held them and they cried,
everybody cried. What only a mother will do is to
say ‘wait, I want you to see your father and see
what your father will do.’
“We were all overwhelmed that at this time when
the President is so busy, he had time to meet
with the women from Chibok.
“He spoke to them in English and Hausa. He
explained to them how he keeps telling everybody
to put themselves in their place.
“So, today we have had the opportunity for the
President and Hajia to show that they are our
father and mother, for that we are glad.”
Shortly after the photo session, security men
quickly whisked the weeping mothers away.
It will, however, be recalled that all efforts to
rescue the schoolgirls them abducted over a year
ago have yet to yield any result.

Politics / Re: Senators Express Mixed Reactions Over Pay Review by 240naija(m): 8:17am On Jun 13, 2015
SOME senators have expressed mixed reactions over the review of remunerations of lawmakers in the country. Speaking on the review, Senator Kabir Marafa, who represents Zamfara Central, on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, said the claim that legislators in the country were receiving high remunerations was untrue. Marafa, while challenging Nigerians to go and verify from banks how much senators were earning, insisted that some Nigerians mistook constituency allowance, as part of the salaries which the lawmakers earned. He said: Our monies are paid through banks, they don’t give us directly; so let the bankers come out and say how much a senator earns. “When you get the correct figure, that is when you and I can sit down and talk but you cannot invent an amount and then tell me how much I should reduce from it. “I think there is general ignorance as to how much a Nigerian senator earns. I would want Nigerians to know exactly how much we earn; then they can come up with criticisms on basis of facts,” he said. When asked how much a Senator earns he still referred the reporter to find out from the banks.

Due to the rising popularity of contouring , thanks to Kim Kardashian and others, its taken its toll on everyone . It ’ s obviously a great technique, but it ’ s a bit much to do every day. In place of contouring , there are more subtle ways of balancing or offsetting your rounded features using makeup . Here' s a step by step break down for your facial makeup for a slimmer looking face . Eyebrows If you want to do the least amount of work necessary to offset a round face , focus on your brows. Arched ones will add some much - needed length to a round face since the arch will lift up your eye area , but flat or straight brows may make round faces look wider. To add some extra

Politics / Ambode To Create 20 Roads In Each LG In Lagos State by 240naija(m): 9:46pm On Jun 12, 2015
Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode,
yesterday restated his administration’s resolve to
ensure rapid development at the grassroots.
Ambode, who disclosed this at an interactive
session with men and officers of Neighbourhood
Watch at Banquet Hall of the Lagos House, Ikeja,
was represented by his deputy, Dr Oluranti
Adebule.
The governor, while declaring that the policy
thrust of his administration would be community
development, stated that his government was
ready to make people at the grassroots level feel
the impact of government.
He told the officials that henceforth “you will be
playing more significant and critical role in this
administration.
This administration is giving back (governance)
to the communities, which is its policy thrust.
“We know if we develop the community we have
developed the local government, which means we
are equally developing the state. But we will not
start from up; we will start from the bottom and
go up.”
The governor also appreciated the contributions
of Neighbourhood Watch members to the
maintenance of law and order in the communities,
adding that there was need for the organisation
to embark on self-appraisal so as to ensure its
members live up to expectations of the public.
He reiterated the commitment of the
administration to ensure the provision of 20 new
rural roads in each of the local government
councils of the state as promised during
electioneering

Politics / Ivory Coast Bans Skin Lighting Cream(bleaching by 240naija(m): 9:47am On May 08, 2015
Ivory Coast has banned skin-whitening creams due to fears
that they cause lasting damage to health. The
announcement was made via a statement released by the
country’s health ministry, which reads in part “Cosmetic
lightening and hygiene creams … that depigment the skin
… are now forbidden,” Guardian UK reports.
According to the report “the ban affects whitening creams
and lotions containing mercury and its derivatives,
cortisone, vitamin A or more than two percent
hydroquinine, a lightening agent that is used to develop
photographs.”
Speaking on the ban, Elidje Ekra, a dermatologist at the
Treichville University Hospital in Abidjan, said: “In our
cultures, some people think women with light skin
are the most beautiful. This beauty standard … pushes
many girls to depigment their skin,” she said.
“What we see in the media is the lighter one’s skin is, the
better one’s life,” he added, referring to advertisements
that
fill the streets of Abidjan, Ivory Coast’s biggest city,
showing models with lighter-than-average skin. While the
craze is most widespread among women, some men use
the creams too.”
Christian Doudouko, a member of Ivory Coast’s
pharmaceutical authority, warned against the dangers of
using such creams, as they can cause skin cancer, and can
also lead to and exacerbate hypertension and diabetes.
The report further mentions that use of such creams are
even more widespread in Nigeria than Ivory Coast. Also,
creams are also extremely popular in many countries in
Asia, including India, Pakistan and Japan, as well as in the
Middle East.
