all na propaganda. he truly cannot just say with mere words that he will cut his salary before payment cos it is very possible he won't do it but the best thing he can do is to cut the money after collecting it and pay it back to the government. 1 Like |

The learned Prof. Is correct. We must follow rules and processes. We are not in military government where things are done by the will of the Head of state. 50% cut in salary is populist but due process must be followed. Arbitrary decisions like the instant case can lead to tyranny and dictatorship.section 84 of the constitution clearly spells out the input of the national assembly and revenue mobilisation commission. Any order outside the provision of the constitution is ultra vires; beyond powers. Section 84 sub section 3 says the salaries of the office holders shall not be altered to their disadvantage. The learned Vice President understands it more but my fear is that he may not be carried along and res ipsa locitur, he was not carried along. 3 Likes |

Childish tinubu boys here ranting as usual. read the post before commenting. RMAFC fixees salaries for public servants. when they pay buhari his salary, he can donate 50% of it or even the whole 100% to charity. just like a female senator said today on AIT's kaakaki, it is not slash in salary that reduces cost of governance. what if a governor removes N50,000 from his salary and goes about buying cars for his convoy worth 100 million naira, where is the cut in governance? |

4bobo: I think he's actually right from the view point of law. What he's simply saying is that, they have to take the full money and give whatever they want to donate back to the Federal or state purse. |

Zico5: Do you understand the meaning of the word "never"? Do you understand the meaning of the word" victimisation "? Do you know the laws of Nigeria? The president simply does not have such powers. The professor is suggesting that it is neater for the president to receive the salary as it is, and then donate the 50% to the State. That way, he will be on the side of the existing laws. Seem to me you arrive at conclusions on news topics by only checking the name of the news maker and where they are from. You expect a certain tribe to continue participating in elections but you bar them from being elected? You should be ashamed of this behaviour, if you can make yourself aware of it. 5 Likes |

Mr Aba made Prof if its the duty of Revenue mobilisation and fiscal bla bla bla to review workers salary, what were the idiots doing all these years while lawmakers and political office holders inflate their salaries and allowance on daily basis at the sound of aye and nays, whereas civil servants (who actually do the real work) were screaming 18,000 minimum wage with negative results?? Do you, mr prof, for once question the exorbitant amount of millions flying in the upper and lower chambers? What you should advice is for the President to recognise and empower RMAFC to carry out its mandate and review anything reviewable not ranting about law and constitutional jargons which a poor man wouldnt understand. Lets praise a good initiative for once!! Instead of giving the impression that somebody is trying to soil the name of your hero. |

Don't mind the attention seeking Dullardihno and his Retardihno Commissioner. They think by cutting their salaries, one would be hood-winked into believing that they can die for this country. As expected, they are only doing it just to arouse the praise of their APC Zombies. Am i the only one who does not just feel the "effect of having a Government in control" since May 29th? 1 Like |

Omo we re. Cutting cost of governance was one of the promises of APC. Let the president institutionalize it by working with the relevant agency to make it binding on political office holders. All they are doing is playing to the gallery. You are jealous of the Igbo's that you no longer reason with your head Zico5: |

Odinkalu is likely contesting for president next regime, he wouldn't want the nascent wind of change of pay cuts to affect his ambition. I expected this learned professor to applaud the president's decision, embarrassingly, his opinion is against the common good. Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission is saddled with the responsibility of pay structure. As a servant leader, it's not a civil or criminal offence to request 50% pay cut from your pay package for common good. Prof Odinkalu should be courageous to applaud the decision of the presidency. Not trying to make it look as if the presidency goofs. |

Prof is right. Unfortunately, APC janja weeds do not respect the LAW. You can't cut your pay; if you must impress your followers, receive your pay and donate 50% back to the F.G. You do not have the right to cut or increase your salary. Prof Osibade should know better even if our amiable gwuro sipping president is clueless. Why cut your salary when you have no right to cut/increase? 2 Likes |

Law must be crazy!!! Some people make law that will favour them while some try to amend it for all. Are the people making the law blind to see that they ought to make move that will enable their salary to be reduced. Constitutional review!!! the only constitutional review that will be done quickly in Nigeria is the one that will favour salary increase for the political office holders, not that of reduction. |

As far as I am concern it show that Human right group leader in Nigeria is Jobless. Please someone should tell him (ODINKALU) that our President is more than his nonsense talk. He should beam his satelite on the citizens and do his work right. Or go take care of his wife and children at home, wash their clothes if he is idle. |
