The question if your spouse/partner is entitled to your social media account password may seem trivial but you’d be surprised at just how many couples fight over it. With the increase in liking pictures, screen grabbing, tagging, re-posting, man crush Monday (MCM), woman crush Wednesday (WCW) and the like, flirting has become easier and telling someone you like them has become even easier!

Social media has opened a new angle to flirting and dating that didn’t exist when we were growing up. Back then, you’d probably only know your man was cheating if a friend told you, or you picked his calls, or read his text messages or caught him/her in the act. Now there are a zillion ways to cheat.

A look at the private messages of some individuals on social media such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc shows various stages of intimacy with different people. Imagine stumbling upon such on your partner’s phone.

Should partners be responsible with their social media accounts by sharing the password with their significant other? Should each person guard their privacy by keeping their social media accounts private? Is a relationship entered into and sustained via social media a valid relationship?

We think anybody with a clean conscience will share their passwords, we also think that knowing your partner can read your messages anytime will help keep you in check, we think relationships on social media are valid because most times they involve emotions and emotional cheating is even worse than the physical act.

What do you think?
