"Do you think this will work?" Vanessa.

"It will." Sadiq said. "But we should notify our parents about this charade before they loses their mind and think we are actually engaged."

"Totally agree." replied Vanessa. "And tomorrow we will grant an exclusive interview to some reporters and give them that Jennifer's recording you have."

Seems someone is about to release her new singles to the world! And i am not talking about a song, i am talking about a certain confession.

The next day and the week that followed was a very busy week for the duo. Their controversial story got the attention of all media houses. For every good news that spreads, there is bound to be some people who the news affects negatively, and that one person can only be Jennifer. She got the shock of her life when she was contacted and told that her contract has been terminated because her image has been tarnished. The social damage was so huge that they had to pull down the entire billboard that had anything to do with her.

“It’s been almost two weeks now and no news from our agent.” Vanessa worriedly that afternoon.

“Could it be they figured us out?” Sadiq more worried that their little dramatic stunt may have been figured out.

“I doubt.” Vanessa optimistically.

“Or maybe they are observing us. You know, to know how long we will last before we break up again.” Sadiq suggestively.

“In that case we have to give them more drama.” Vanessa added.

“I agree. What do you have in mind?”

“The usual stunt. We will let the paparazzi invade our personal life; we will make sure they see us together always. And the headlines as usual will suggest; ‘Drama queen and her fiancée can’t get enough of themselves.’ And all the blah blah headlines they make up just to get paid.” Vanessa pulling up her window blind to let some air into her room.

“I hope it works unlike the first plan that hasn’t shown any result.” said Sadiq.

“It will. Moreover the first plan wasn’t useless. At least we were able to get Jennifer.”

“True. But you seem to forget Jennifer issue was a secondary matter, she was just a collateral damage. The primary motive was for us to get back our contract.”

“I know. I am positive this will work.” She affirmed optimistically. “Have you heard from your friend Eze since the fund raiser?”

“Called him multiple times but he didn’t pick you, very unlike him.” Sadiq, glancing through his call log.

“Maybe he is still brooding. Poor guy, i really pitied him when I saw him looking so miserable and then got punched by Jojo.” said Vanessa.

Uncle Idris showed up some days later. He wore a brown short sleeve and dark blue jeans. His face beamed, exposing his eccentric self.

“It’s been more than a year since you last came.” Sadiq said to him.

“It’s work Sadiq. The economy is down, lazy workers are getting laid off so the rest of us are working to the limit to stay employed.” Uncle Idris replied.

“That sucks!” replied Sadiq.

“Yes it does. But not for you, I see your book sold well. I even bought a copy from Amazon.” said uncle Idris.

“How was it?” Sadiq curiously.

“It was all right.” uncle Idris remarked.

Sadiq laughed. “Just all right?”

“You want me to be honest?”

“Yes.”

“It’s a great story but I noticed that your main character always played it safe. It’s almost like you, like you do. Then it occurred to me that a writer’s work is sometimes the reflection of who he is.”

“I don’t play it safe anymore” Sadiq. “I take risk. I even told Vanessa I loved her after how many years but afterward I realized that our relationship was just platonic.”

Uncle Idris smiled. “I should commend you for that. I am glad you finally grew up a little. But telling Vanessa you loved her isn’t enough. You have to put yourself out there, feel things, get hurt badly, take great risk and feel real pain. When you do that believe me you will write a even greater story.”

“What does that have to do with writing a story?”

“I will leave you to tell me that after you have experienced it.” concluded uncle Idris.
