The Organised Scam Called Naptin. by HIPROFILE(m): 1:20pm On Aug 17, 2015
It is pertinent to let the world and the Federal Government know of the scam being perpetrated on the citizens and Graduate Engineers by the National Power Training Institute (NAPTIN) and it's DG Dr. Reuben Okeke.

We the graduates of 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 sets have decided to come out and voice out our pain, anguish, displeasure and dissapointment about the conman behavior of Dr. Okeke and that of NAPTIN as a whole. If we do not speak out on time then other graduate engineers will still fall prey to their unholy and unconstitutional practices as NAPTIN has already posted adverts for the next batch of trainings for 2015 when the graduates of the previous two sets are still languishing at home jobless even after obtaining a 'MERIT' pass certificate which was the minimum required grade obtainable by any NAPTIN graduate seeking a job offer within the power sector. [right][/right

Infact, Dr. Okeke in clear terms stated during our inauguration ceremony on 15/11/2013 that the 10 best graduating students of NAPTIN will be granted the the right of first refusal for job placement within NAPTIN itself. This statement, the same Dr. Okeke has vehemently denied during our last scheduled meeting with NAPTIN seeking that they fulfilled all the promises they made both at our inauguration (15/11/2013) and graduating (01/12/2014) ceremonies.

But we wish to remind Dr. Okeke and NAPTIN that it is on note that he made those statements to the hearing of everyone present at those two ceremonies, some of which includes representatives from the ministry of Power, chairman Senate committee on power and also some foreign investors, and that we have in our possession the video recording of those occasions which we will use in exposing his lies when the time comes. Infact, during our graduation ceremony, Amb. Igali stated in plain English that the President had given approval that the 189 "merit" graduates of 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 to be employed by TCN, a copy of that statement which we equally have in our possession.

Though it is also important to let the public know that we never had problems with the quality of training NAPTIN gave us, the quality of the training we received was "first class " ranging from the classroom exposure in our respective regional training Centres (RTCs), to our sectorial and sub-sectorial practical field jobs, infact, while on the field we worked alongside seasoned Engineers and sometimes expatriates in carrying out routine maintenance, repairs and installations jobs.

But the crux of the matter is why waste so much resources without any end product? Why should an unemployed graduate cough out 750,000 naira plus almost another one million naira for housing, feeding, and transportation, risking lives traveling all over the country for one year without a guaranteed end product? I in particular traveled to Abuja RTC, Egbin thermal (Lagos sectorial ), Sapele thermal (Module I), Olorunshogo -papalanto (module II), etc. Some other colleagues went to Geregu (Kogi sectorial ), kaduna disco (sectorial ), kainji RTC (module II ), Jos RTC, Afam IV & V (Port-Harcourt sectorial ), Orji River RTC (Enugu ), Lagos transmission (Ijora ), etc

The training being a national program meant that we had to travel the length and breadth of Nigeria but with on OUR OWN MONEY! . The training was no joke, so why should the end result be? These questions and many more are the reasons for our outburst and we demand answers to them.

If NAPTIN and the Federal government cannot employ the merited graduates of NAPTIN, then let it be scrapped. It is unhealthy and unconstitutional for the FG through NAPTIN to exploit the vulnerability of Engineering graduates for profit making purposes without adequate plans for the benefit of the graduates themselves.

It is worrying also that even within the FG circle itself NAPTIN certificate is useless, valueless and unrecognized. All our individual attempts to render the NAPTIN certificate to the ministry of Power (MOP) and it's other Government sister power agencies such as NERC, EMS and co, for their consideration of our employment has seen this same NAPTIN certificate thrown back at us saying that " we do not know what NAPTIN is and as such it cannot be used as a basis for your employment ".

Painful as this may sound, it is nothing compared to the despair we felt while with our host companies during our respective field sectorial duties where our host companies kept on with side recruitments through the back door. Infact my host plant, Sahara Energy (owners of IKEDC and Egbin thermal ) conducted a fresh recruitment under our very nose and sent the successful candidates to the same NAPTIN for training without any consideration for us. Obviously we made our plight known to NAPTIN but they washed their hands of it saying they cannot force any Genco or disco to employ people against their wish, then we wonder and begin to ask the questions of what happened to the remaining FG stake of 30-40% ownership in such companies if they cannot atleast have a say in those companies recruitment exercise.

Bordering on all these points is the reason for our public outcry about NAPTIN nefarious activities that even after 9 months of graduation and constant meetings and pleas with the NAPTIN management to fulfill their own end of the bargain (since we have fulfilled ours), but they have all through these meetings shamelessly denied ever promising us Jobs.

Therefore, we have resolved to expose them for what they are, we will stop at nothing to make sure that they deliver on their promises to us. It is time for them to be held accountable to their words, the era of making empty political statements and promises is gone.

Our demands therefore are simple and as follows ;

1. The immediate grant of the right of first refusal for direct employment into NAPTIN for the 2013/2014 first 10 best Graduates.

2. The immediate employment of the remaining 189 merit graduates of both the 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 sets either by TCN or by its other Government sister Power agencies.

3. That NAPTIN should stop the present advert for admission which it has posted both online and in the National dailies, till our pressing issues are attended to.

4. That the FG through Ministry of Power (MOP) should mandate all Private Companies (Gencos and Discos ) and Public (TCN, NERC, etc) to grant the graduates of NAPTIN the right of first refusal during employment as it still retains 30-40% ownership of stake in such companies.

5. That failure to do 1&2 above, then NAPTIN should refund our 750,000naira paid as Tuition and school fees else we will be forced to seek redress in court and sue them for damages.

6. That as promised during our inauguration, NAPTIN should endeavor to partner with top recognised universities both home and foreign for the upgrade of our certificate to Post-graduate studies.

PS:
We also wish to use this medium to tell our respective State Governments and our other benefactors who sponsored us and even provided us stipends to take care of our running expenses incurred during this period, hoping that we will become useful to ourselves and the State in particular can now see through the lies of Dr. Reuben Okeke as the DG of NAPTIN who is only concerned about the money that will come to him.

Our advice is to disregard further letters sent to you about admission of your state indigenes for the next set of trainings when virtually all of us from the previous sets are still at home. We employ you to insist on NAPTIN making true their promise of getting us Jobs first before sponsoring another set.

- To our fresh Graduates, please do not fall prey to their scam I.e adverts you see everywhere. They are only looking for the gullible to prey on, draining them financially, mentally, psychologically and otherwise in the process. inshort, they are only interested in your money while selling you lies. They remain a scam and a fiarce until proven otherwise. BE WARNED!!!

Which other contract note do you want to see.
many left their jobs to enroll for this programme considering various statements made by the DG of naptin. read the following carefully.

The 16-year embargo placed on the recruitment of engineers before the power sector was privatised worsened electricity supply across the country, the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria has said.

According to the institute, the embargo was placed on all forms of recruitments by the Federal Government in 1998.

The Director-General, NAPTIN, Mr. Reuben Okeke, told our correspondent in an exclusive interview in Abuja on Tuesday that there was no structured recruitment programme at the time, a development that had impacted negatively on the sector.

He said, “What the minister said is correct because 1998 was when we had official embargo on employment in the Power Holding Company of Nigeria. That was when the issue of privatisation started, and so, there was an embargo on employment in 1998. But before then, there was no structured recruitment for engineers in the power sector.

“During that time, the training department of NEPA or PHCN would go round to conduct interviews for engineers and other technical officers of the power firm in each state.”

The Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, had last month stated that prior to the privatisation of the successor companies of the PHCN, the firm employed no new engineers for over 16 years.

Nebo said this in Abuja at the closing ceremony of the 2014 Youth Summit organised by the Youth Initiative for Leadership and Rural Development.

According to him, this flaw and a few other issues led to the abysmal performance of the power sector and contributed to the abandonment of electrical equipment at the ports for several years.

The minister stated that the present reforms in the sector had led to the employment of about 1,000 young engineers.

He said the reforms were being religiously implemented with a view to achieving sufficiency in power supply, which would usher in industrialisation and greater economic growth than had already been achieved.

Speaking further on the issue, Okeke said human capital was almost comatose during the period.

The NAPTIN DG said, “But ever since 1993 or 1995, such structured recruitment did not go on. The embargo of 1998 was not only on engineers, but included all other departments of the power firm.

“And, of course, it affected a lot of things and my impression about it is that it was a very big minus for the development of human capital, which is the key for running, operating and maintaining the electricity that you see.

“The human capital is key and number one. So, if there has been an embargo on recruitment and no structured recruitment was allowed, that, to a large extent, affected the performance of electricity supply across the country.”

The National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN), on Thursday, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Schneider Electric, a French firm, for the training of Nigerian electrical engineers.
The Director-General of NAPTIN, Mr Reuben Okeke, said the MoU would greatly boost the Institute’s drive to ensure adequate training for Nigerians in the power sector.
He said Schneider would train instructors who would in-turn train technicians involved in professional wiring of houses to avoid fire accidents.
The director-general said NAPTIN currently had over 600 engineers undergoing training, saying the collaboration was timely as it would produce the needed knowledgeable manpower to develop the sector.
Okeke said that the Institute was also partnering with University of Lagos, Bayero University, Kano, Federal University of Technology, Minna and University of Science and Technology, Owerri for post graduate training of engineers in the sector.
According to the MoU, Schneider Electric will be required to provide specialised training courses to NAPTIN trainers using its facility.
It is also expected to facilitate the delivery of practical training and deployment of consumables (cables and wires) and low/medium voltage power management systems.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power, Mr Godknows Igali, who supervised the signing of the MoU, said the deal was timely, considering the global position of Schneider as manufacturer of electricity equipment.
Igali said the partnership would further enhance the local content initiative of the Federal Government.
He added that some of the engineers would be trained in France as part of plan to give them international exposure.
The President of Schneider Electric, Mr Marcel Hochet, said “the agreement symbolises the company’s training commitment with both the Federal Government and stakeholders in the power sector.’’
Hochet said the agreement would significantly impact on the ability of government to deliver on its power sector reforms, raise technical skill for the power sector and create more jobs. (NAN

Re: NAPTIN'S NGSDP PROGRAMME A SCAM! [ I THINK YOUR POST LACK FACTS AND EVIDENCE]
Kindly Verify These Facts:
The National Power Training Institute of Nigeria is a power training institute saddled with the responsibility of training graduate engineers and technicians to be employable in the competitive power sector fully dominated by expatriates. Having commenced her first training in 2012/2013 tagged: Naptin Graduate Skills Development Programme (NGSDP) has adequately trained first class expert in various field of power system: Generation, Transmission and Distribution. I was so lucky to apply for the 2012/2013 session and fully paid my fees and subsistence even though I tried for the state government to take up my bills that wasn't possible. Majority of the trainees were so lucky to be sponsored by their state governments. The quality of the training was superb and still is; even though I specialized in Transmission, I had the opportunity as well to interface with generation and distribution under seasoned engineers. The quality of the training I received in the field and the classroom instructions were excellent. I could recollect in 2012 at the inception of the training that the Director General of NAPTIN Engr. Reuben Okeke emphatically stated that the best TEN will be retained by NAPTIN and personally followed it up by visiting all the trainees in our various field locations; I could recollect that he visited us twice to ascertain how we were doing and on these visits he asked us articulated questions which actually made most of us to sit-up. Today, I did not regret applying for this training programme as I made it to the TOP TEN and has SINCE BEEN EMPLOYED BY NAPTIN.
FACTS:
* The TEN of us that made it were fully employed by NAPTIN since 14th March, 2014. Breakdown: One at Regional Training Centre Ijora, Lagos, One at the Corporate Headquarters, Abuja, Three at RTC Oji River, Enugu, Three at RTC AFAM, River State, Two at RTC kano. Moreso; * As at today about 65% of the NGSDP are from the 2012/2103 and 2013/2014 fully employed in the power sector through NAPTIN's recommendations. Enugu Electricity Distribution Company through NAPTIN's recommendations employed about 56 engineers, you may wish to Contact their HR to verify. Other companies who have also employed NAPTIN NGSDP graduates include:
* SAHARA Group owners of IKEJA DISCO and Egbin employed. * Ibadan EDC employed. * Abuja EDC (KANN) employed. * Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) employed. Visit Benin TCN, Enugu TCN, Port Harcourt TCN etc and verify. * NAPTIN's State-of-the-art Labs at Kainji, Ijora Lagos, AFAM River State, Kano, Kaduna etc can not be assembled for SCAM. Verifiable. * NAPTIN since her inception has trained many graduates and technicians that are competing favourably in their chosen professions. It has never been the responsibility of NAPTIN to employ but the DG makes recommendation to the new owners of Generation and distribution companies. Enugu EDC for instance did not only employed those measured in distribution and transmission but also those that NAPTIN trained in Generation were interviewed and employed. The challenge was that 'most' of the Gencos did not follow the trend by Discos. And the Director General of NAPTIN has NO obligation to mandate them to employ.
LIES * That you were not employ since then does not make NAPTIN a SCAM. * There is no document/agreement during the enrolment that states that NAPTIN MUST employ all the trainees.
MOVE FORWARD Since you kindly admitted that NAPTIN gave us Expertise training in power system, you MUST prove that by applying to engineering firms that are recruiting daily to utilize these great skills.

The primary purpose for its establishment is to provide training for power sector personnel and coordinate training activities in the sector. My friends you have said that NAPTIN has given and provided a FIRST class training to you, how has this program set up by NAPTIN to make you more valuable to yourself be a SCAM? If NAPTIN is a scam then all institutions of learning are SCAM. We go through schools, programs, training etc to increase our chances of being favorable for employment and a better future, but there is no guaranty that the value you obtain will bring about the desired outcome. You do not know what SCAM is... NAPTIN has fulffiled her obligation in regard to your invested money in the she training she gave you. In your words, "the quality of the training we received was "first class " ranging from the classroom exposure in our respective regional training Centres (RTCs), to our sectorial and sub-sectorial practical field jobs, infact, while on the field we worked alongside seasoned Engineers and sometimes expatriates in carrying out routine maintenance, repairs and installations jobs." Sorry about your predicament friends, many have benefited and many more will still benefit, maybe its not your time yet, wait patiently it will come and most probably in BIG way. Cheers!

Its obvious that the two people above me do nat understand some lines in the write up

It stated clearly that NAPTIN as usual through its DG promised automatic Employment for its best ten traînées into NAPTIN. Its over 9months now the 2013/14 set graduated and nothing of such has happened rather the DG Engr Reuben Okeke vehemently denied that stating that the Institute can no longer do that. This statement was issued by him at a Meeting scheduled between NAPTIN and its past graduates of 12/13 and 13/14 sessions of which over 80 percent of this sets remain unemployed.

The fact here is that NAPTIN projected statements that looked great and promising to the unsuspecting engineers who believed it would be a sure way to help boost the dieing power sector unfortunately they are begining to see all those statements and promises as delusional

At the graduation of the later set the ministry of power through its permanent secretary Dr Godknows Igali made mention that a presidential directive has been given to absorb about 189 graduates who made merit into TCN till this moment nothing like that has taken place. The height of it which made these young, vibrant ,promising and skill rich Engineers to cru out is that the certificate itself lack regognition even from government parastatals like NERC, EMS, COREN NSE and others despite its cost and the skills acquired. I still maintain that NAPTIN should stop at trades like welding, pipe fitting, électrification, installations,...etc which can enable its graduates to start something on their own and might even end up becoming employers of labour than pushing into power sector training while the trainees stay idle at the end.

I want to sincerely sympathize with you my people, who graduated from the NAPTIN Graduate Skills Development Programme (NGSDP), and are yet to secure any job placement. I am one of the pioneers of the NGSDP i.e. 2012/2013 batch. It is indeed pathetic to remain jobless after all the stress and strains involved in the training we went through. Being that as it may, I want to emphatically state that your objurgations against Engr. Reuben Okeke, the DG of NAPTIN and NAPTIN as an Institute is sheer jejune.
By the infinite mercy of the ‘‘supreme being’’ who is the creator of humanity, I emerged the best in all that were trained in thermal stations across the country as well as one of the best ten pioneers. Without mincing words, I am today a Mechanical Instructor with NAPTIN as a fulfillment of the promise made by the DG, Engr Reuben Okeke to give the right of first refusal to the best ten graduating trainees (like you quoted). Engr Reuben Okeke is a man of integrity, rectitude and honour who does not play ducks and drakes. This is a fact too gargantuan and indisputable to be refuted. Holding him and NAPTIN, who are fighting tooth and nail to proffer the necessary and sufficient panacea to your malady responsible for your predicament, is unfounded and absurd. As a young Engineer (or Engineering graduate), I expect you to know that ‘‘what so ever you do to someone, someday, someone will equally do same to you’’ in accordance with the principle of retributive justice. Since our graduation in 2013, I have been privileged to be available, a couple of times the DG, Engr Reuben Okeke addressed trainees. All he does is to draw analogy from the fact that the best ten pioneers were engaged by NAPTIN, as a way of encouraging diligence and hardwork among the trainees and never any promise of job to hold on to.
The identification of a problem is a step to the resurrection of its solution. I want to tell you ‘the acclaimed’ 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 graduates of NGSDP that you are yet to identify your problems. And as such, you are far from the solution. I enjoin you to stop majoring in minor. The act establishing NAPTIN defines NAPTIN as a training Institute and not a job provider for Nigerians. I’m joyous you stated that the training we received is insurmountable. The fact that the best ten pioneers were engaged does not automatically translate to the engagement of every best ten. PLEASE! CRITICIZE CONSTRUCTIVELY.
To prospective trainees of NGSDP, I want you to know that ‘‘whoever says education is expensive should try ignorance’’. The programme is meant to expand your intellectual coast and broaden your horizon for job search. Believing that your admission into the programme is automatically a job offer is not only erroneous and obnoxious but mendacious and absolutely fallacious. The programme unequivocally sets you miles apart from your peers as far as power sector is concern. The recent advertisement by Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company explicitly states that NAPTIN certificate is an added advantage. So, use your tongue to count your teeth and decide whether to spend your money and stand out of the crowd or keep your money and remain jobless. BE WISE!

Why the waste of fund, why nat employ the already trained .... It is much more cost effective to retrain a staff if you wish.

It is a big risk and a waste of human resources to gain this kinda training and fail to put it into practice.

Maybe NAPTIN played to the gallery by saying that an other has been issued by the presidency to employ 189 engineers. Unfortunately these guys held and hoped onto this statements as it is a direct statement of hope.

Staying idle for a long time without any job despite the kinda skill they have acquired could make these intelligent and well meaning nigerians to devulge into negative acts.

I think they are only trying to cryout because many never knew this until now.

ABUJA (Federal Ministry of Power Report) - The Minister of Power, Chinedu Nebo (Professor) at the recent graduation ceremony of the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) announced an automatic employment for the three best graduating students and the offer of cash rewards worth N150,000 and N100,000 for two categories of awardees.

The Minister expressed satisfaction with the training curriculum, saying it has prepared the graduands to truly become engineers, skilful enough to operate in the delicate power sector as they have been imbued with formal knowledge and skills. He added that the two sets of trainees, who make up the group since his assumption of duty will help address the dire need for skilled manpower for the sector, indicating that the sector has suffered neglect of skilled workforce under both NEPA and PHCN regimes.

Chinedu Nebo averred that he is more confident now than he was in the time past because the sector is currently prepared for the envisaged astronomical leap in its activities towards ensuring uninterrupted power supply to Nigerians. "This mission lies under the objectives of the Transformation Agenda which also has the job creation component and local content aimed at enabling Nigerians to take their rightful positions in the future of the sector," he noted.

He commended the vision of the originators of NAPTIN as they have incorporated Training Policy for Power as a way of setting service-wide standards that all private operators must adhere to. According to the Minister, it is in keeping faith with this resolve that General Electric has also incorporated local capacity-building into its plans for the new plant being built in Cross-River State. He further enjoined all stakeholders to think out of the box by embracing new approaches to tackling the various challenges facing the sector, especially training modules and research efforts capable of bringing to fore the new opportunities that abound in the power sector.

While setting the agenda for the new graduands, the Minister warned them against utilising the skills acquired during their training at NAPTIN in unproductive and deplorable future endeavours.
Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the House Committee on Power, Philip Aduda (Senator) challenged the graduands to use the training for the protection of power assets, even though they are in private hands, assuring the Institute of continuous legislative support.

The Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Sam Amadi (Dr) in his goodwill message commended NAPTIN for its continuous efforts at capacity building, insisting that the graduands after their training at the Institute have been considered good enough to fill the technical capacity gap which had skewed against engineers and other technical staff in the time past. Adding, it was because of this that the sector¡¯s development partners have identified and supported NAPTIN¡¯s programmes.

He advised that the Institute should keep abreast of changes from the digitalized world, inferring that in the near future, things like risk engineering and financing expertise will be incorporated into the curriculum.
Earlier in his address, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Power, Godknows Igali (Dr) called on the new graduands to take their training seriously as the opportunity has distinguished them as persons capable of working in the newly privatized power sector. He disclosed that 189 graduands have been given Presidential acceptance to be employed, stressing that this development is a wake-up call to those States that have failed to sponsor students, in spite of the fact that they have un-used quota to explore.

In the first instance, I'm finding it tedious to comprehend why you are now using a third party subject (they, this guy, them etc) in your write up.
Are u an NGSDP graduand or you are hired?
If you are, please! remain consistent in expressions. ''The probability that you may fail in a struggle ought not to deter you from a course you believe to be just. Or don't you believe in your post any longer?
-If TCN refuse to employ already trained personnel and decided to waste their money by employing and sending to NAPTIN for the same training; does it make NAPTIN a scam?
-If federal government speaks through the minister and are yet to implement the speech, for reasons you and I can not unfold, does it make NAPTIN a scam?
-When you were applying for the NGSDP (as you claimed some of you resigned your jobs because of Engr OKeke's promise of job offer) did you know Engr. Okeke?
-The advert NAPTIN placed that made you resign your job, does it contain the promise of job offer?
My dear, don't mistake movement for achievement. It is easy to be faked out by being busy but the question is; ...busy doing what?
So what exactly are you up to?

RE: NATIONAL POWER TRAINING INSTITUTE (NAPTIN): A FEDERAL SCAM.
I write to comment on the above subject. I am a graduate of 2012/2013 NAPTIN NGSDP. The content in the write-up seems to have some contradictions that require clarification. I therefore want to state as follows;
National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) as a federal government agency has its mandate clearly stated by the same Federal Government. The mandate is to train and re-train the personal in the power sector not to secure a job! As stated by the writer who confessed to have benefited from the intense training of high standard with well structured facilities.
On the issue of NGSDP Graduates, as we all know in other institutions, NAPTIN can’t employ all of its graduates, but can make some consideration based on merit as done in other places. In this regard, I would state categorically that NAPTIN HAVE CONSIDERED AND RECRUITED TEN (10) of its NGSDP Graduates based on merit and now are working as NAPTIN staff. Fortunately, I happen to be among the beneficiaries of this gesture (NAPTIN’s FULFILLMENT OF THE PROMISED MADE).
On its pioneer Director-General, ENGR. (DR) REUBEN OKEKE, the man deserves commendation. For not only bringing the institute (NAPTIN) to this state of national and international level, but his effort in putting down the structures and the equipments including its well structured facilities at this short period (2009-2015) of time.
I also would want to sympathize and pray for my colleagues who are yet to actualize their dream of being contributors in the power sector/industry for the best. Looking at the quality and the standard of the training that comes through practical experience and knowledge given by NAPTIN, I think NO amount of resources invested by someone could be termed WASTEFUL.

Employ them and save yourself all this stress. I can hear you talk like a wailer actually hired to protect an interest. Carry on but pray that what they are going through will nat come to you someday.

BE WISE!

Mr. Awaa, count your self lucky to be taken as part of the first set best 10. But you should know that he made thesame promise to us and more but he has uptill this point not only shamelessly denied but not fulfilled as well.

You must know that a position as that of a DG of NAPTIN is a position of power and as such one should be careful of utterances uttered as such statements will be held on to for the records. It is on note that the invitation letters sent to the different respective states lobbying that they send graduates for training explicitly stated that they will have job offers after successfully completed the program. It was based on such premise that most states sent in their candidates. Also okeke garrulously kept on with the promises even at the inauguration ceremony even saying that so long as you make a merit pass, that you will be considered for employment.

My friend, the last time I checked, word of mouth is still tenable in the court of law so long as they are witnesses and evidences to back the compliant.

So my friend back off and count yourself lucky as the bait okeke used in luring us to the slaughter house.

What we demand is simple, fulfill your promise to us else you make a refund or be scrapped before other graduates fall victim.

No government make profits/business off its jobless graduates anywhere in the world. It is wrong on all sides. Offer the training for free and at the end refuse to absorb your own trainees, no problem...., but don't ask for for a whooping 750k and at the end throw them out like that into the open.

Abeg, tell them. By the time NAPTIN gets what's is coming its way it will be too late. If you think you can wake up and take advantage of people without any remorse, then think again because you are on a long thing.

I don't blame the he-goat, to think that he was a beneficiary and lucky to be taken, only to turn back and mock his fellow colleagues. Typical of Nigerians, backstabbing since the beginning of time.

But the big question is, who is your oppressor in this case Certainly not Engr. Okeke nor NAPTIN. .

It is unfortunate that GENCOS are not awake yet.

Awaa,i sincerely apreciate ur analytical acumen and patriotuc spirit.though you took the step of quickly registering on nairaland to defend your pay master.i dont have problem with that. i will like us to analyse your points one after the other,in comparism with the plight of the op and the stance of naptin through her DG.

First, what and what do you think will make an unemployed graduate of our country of today to cough out 750k for training in nigeria if not a promised job, or for someone who is earning about 150k to voluntarily resign his apointment and look for such sum for local training? you will give me better answer if u were employed before you applied.

How many training in nigeria demand so much for a certificate that has no local acceptability let alone international recognition? The certificate that has no ref/certificate number.

you claimed that you have since been employed by naptin in fulfilment of her promise in employing the best 10 graduants of your set. why did DG deny the same promise when asked?

i want to draw your attentio to this: http://nigeriacurrentaffairs1..com/2014/12/fg-offers-automatic-employment-to.html
pls what has happened to the 189 job opportunity promised through perm sec?

i dont want us to be biased here,i know of someone who abandoned his masters program and left his job for this training and he is presently at home nit because he failed but because the promised job isnt forthcoming.
in your set,i know of two guys in mechanical who served in omotosho phase 1. they kept managing with the company even after their graduation, hoping that they will be considered during the recruutment excercise. they were not even invited for interview while the genco employed fresh graduate.the invitation which was not even made public.

what the op is saying is fulfilment of naptin's promised job, stop promising what she cabt offer and standardise the certificate or better scrap the excersie.

Honestly you always leave me laughing each time i go through your post because i Can't understand your stake here, now tell me how to explain this to this trained engineers that after the promised job offer to the best ten graduates, thereafter NAPTIN recruited new personnel who havent undergone NAPTIN training. These new recruits are being paid good salaries while going through same training. Does this make sense to you? what do you expect them to think about NAPTIN Since its DG tôld them that best 10 will be Employed into the institution. Behold he recruited non trained personnel, placed them on Salary and sent them to same training. While the trained ones are at home doing nothing. Is that fair enough? Will you advice your young one to spend such amount and come back to stay all day @ home? If you do then you are wicked. 750K is jast the tuition because you will end up spending over 1.5M when you add living, feeding and transportation cost if you are self sponsored.

If NAPTIN can neglect its trained engineers and sourced for personnel outside then what do you expect of other companies.

Young man @Awaa you claimed a benefactor of the best 10 job during your set count yourself lucky and Keep quite.

RE - NATIONAL POWER TRAINING INSTITUE OF NIGERIA (NAPTIN)
- A Federal Scam

I write to comment on the above subject matter in which a writer claimed that the promise made by the Director General of National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN), in person of Engr Dr. Reuben Okeke to grant ten (10) best graduating NGSDP trainees the right of first refusal for job placement within NAPTIN was not fulfilled.

To this effect, i am forced by the write-up to voice out my opinion concerning the subject so that the world may know whether the claim is right or wrong.

1. I was among the beneficiaries of the ten (10) best NGSDP trainees who graduated in 2012/2013 and who were employed by NAPTIN where the process was based on merit.

2. It is also worth mentioning that a large number of other known NGSDP trainees who graduated the same year were recruited by ‘Mainstream Energy Services’, a company who acquired Kainjl and Jebba Hydroelectric Power Stations after the recent privatisation exercise.

3. Other graduates of the same set have secured jobs with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and posted to different stations within the country. In all the recruitment exercises, NAPTIN certificate was given due consideration.

4. Another aspect to remember is that non- NGSDP graduates recruited by any of the electricity companies (Gencos, Discos, TCN) were being sent to NAPTIN by the companies who usually pay for them to undergo the same training. At the same time, Old staff were being sent to the same NAPTIN for advanced training.

5. However, it was categorically stated in the write-up that the training received by the writer was ‘first class’ of its kind, a fact which may guide the Federal Government in judging whether to scrap or give more support to the training institution.
