Enyimba is the team with the best away records in the league, winning 4 and drawing 5 of 12 games. If this were replicated at home, they would have been leading the pack by some margin by now. Still, they are second on the table having lost the fewest number of games in total. It would take some display for the defending champions Kano Pillars to upset the Aba Elephants.

On the contrary, Kano Pillars away form is nothing to be excited about, having won just once away from home and two draws. Despite this form, Kano Pillars are full of confidence having recently hammered Shooting Stars of Ibadan 4-1.

Culled from www.thatenyimbafan.com

We entertain Pillars this evening at the Enyimba Stadium in what many have billed our biggest game of the season. In yesterday's post Jae listed five reasons why he termed it such but it is significant for me only for one reason. It is the beginning of a Never-drop-any-more-points-at-home run for us.

Coming into this game, they have been on an impressive run, ten points from a possible twelve should give a team some spring in their step and spanking a team 4-1 at the weekend should be a perfect dress rehearsal prior to meeting a title rival.

But Pillars usually don't get anything in Aba. In their last eight or so visits, they have left empty handed and the onus is on us to make it the ninth today.

A lot of people see the defeat at the weekend more as two points dropped but the players celebrated it as a point gained and yet another away point. Well, the other thing that will make up for that is three full points this evening.

Yes, the league still has fourteen games to go after this but you cannot ignore how important the three points tonight will be for either team. With it, we should get back to the top of the League table, and if Pillars do, then they are right into the thick of things as far as the Premier League title is concerned.

In terms of personnel, the guys invited to the Super Eagles camp will leave tomorrow morning, in other words, Femi Thomas, Idris Aloma, Kingsley Sokari and Ezekiel Bassey are all available for selection today.

Speaking of selections, Coach Ikhana has quite some job on his hands. Aside the back five which you will expect to pick itself, who will he deploy on the flanks and who pairs who upfront? There has been repeated calls for the manager to play Mfon Udoh and Najere upfront but the manager loves deploying Mfon on the right.

Ezekiel Bassey hasn't really shone in the past few games he played but he will realize this is an opportunity to impress one more time before heading off to Sunday Oliseh's camp. There also is Daniel Etor who has had to sit out a few games now since their return from the Under-23 camp. It would be good to see him get a start as you know how potent his left boot is, from long range and from set pieces.

The final decision is on the number 10 role. Kamal had an excellent game against Bayelsa and I will back on him to continue from where he stopped in that game but Sokari came in few minutes to go and handed Kone a chance on the plate but the Burkinabe passed it to the keeper. I think Sokari is much more creative even though Kamal's one of the best passers in the team.

If you choose to hand starts to Kamal and Sokari, then Aliyu misses out. He offers presence and height in the DM role. Trust me, I don't envy Kadiri Ikhana's job.

Captain Chinedu Udoji is suspended for this one so Ifeanyi Anemena should get the nod.

I'll pick-

Femi Thomas, Ugwu Uwadiegwu, Markson Ojobo, Sikiru Kamal, Ifeanyi Anaemena, Emmanuel Anyanwu, Daniel Etor, Kingsley Sokari, Ezekiel Bassey, Musa Najare, Mfon Udoh.

Its a midweek game but expect the Aba fans in their numbers. Shops will close on time today and it should be a capacity crowd this evening. We must get behind the team every step of the way. This title means so much to us and the sight of those our fans who travelled to Oghara to support the lads in the Bayelsa game speaks volumes.

The game is available on SuperSport 9 from 4:15 I believe but the live blog will be up and running from 3:30pm just in case you don't got no DSTV.

Lets do it over Pillars yet again.

Anything less than a 2-0 win for Enyimba would be a bad result for me.
