SUMO ZINC is that of 8ft size
Advantage : cheap
Disadvantage : low quality because it read and rust within short periods i.e some few years!

ALUMINUM LONGSPAN is okay
Advantage: durable and asecthic
But a bit more costly than zinc

Aluminum stepties : nice , durable and asecthic cool using gauge 4.5 / 5.5thick

Disadvantage: quick leakage when use low gauge
Recommended gauge 5.5thick.

STONE COATED
This is excellent but costly that others
Durable, asecthic okay and realiable.

Now depends on your pocket capacity

That is correct but make sure you buy original ABRO made silicon more so you can use this so called 4min gum ( go to where they are selling motor part you will get it, buy original one Abro product USA made)
Then follow the same process someone explained earlier.

Can you rephrase the question?

I was asking because you said that when you supply 500 blocks, you pay for only 500 blocks laid by bricklayers ?

I had wanted to know what you do about the half, quarter and other smaller pieces of blocks that occur along a block course. How do you pay for those?

To elaborate further, there are about 71 blocks laid on these two partitions in this picture, and about 12 out of the 71 are half blocks, the 12 half blocks might have been cut from 6 blocks. My question is;

Would you pay for 71 blocks or 65 because only 65 blocks were supplied? That's what I wanted to understand.

Thank you.

I will pay for 65blocks only.
That has been the agreement with my bricklayer.

That's good. Brick layers around here bargain differently. They bargain for every block laid to be paid for, full, half, quarter must be paid for N30 each. Their helpers draw N2,000 for a full day work irrespective of blocks laid. So, if we bring 65 blocks in the above scenario, we pay for 71 blocks because of the half blocks.

The argument is not on the size of the block, but on the difficulty in laying half blocks. Unlike full blocks, half blocks are a little more difficult to lay because a brick layer will need to measure the space, cut his block according to the space and now lay the blocks.

Many thanks for taking out time to explain this. But plz, is this 4.5 gauge same as the 0.45 gauge I see mostly on adverts here? If it's not, what's the prize of the 4.5/ 5.5 gauges of Long span and Metcoppo Aluminiums respectively? Thanks

Due to the current happenings about people being electrocuted in their bathroom ,I deemed it fit to analyse the causes and probably how we can avoid future occurrences.
Electricity can only flow to the water tank in the water heater system if there is conductivity between the heating element and the tank, the water in the tank becomes a carrier of electricity. If there is such a fault and there is a proper equipment grounding (earthing),the equipment grounding conductor (ground wire) is the current path that enables protective devices, such as circuit breakers and fuses, to operate when a fault occurs.
So proper earthing can help, it is also safe to switch off water heater before use .There should be caution sign on the doors of bathrooms "switch off water heater before use".
The news about people being electrocuted in their bathroom now raises a lot of dust about building regulations.
A lot of people engage Electrician to do their home Electrical installations, which they feel is cheaper. Engaging an electrician is fine but It's always advisable u ask an electrical engineer to sign off b4 use, because most Electrician do earthing but are never sure if the earthing proper.
A test can always be carried out for proper earthing.

Thanks my brother, you are very correct on this.

Its better to let some people know here that this particular thread is an international thread where both diaspora and others citizens from diff country do come to check things and some notable people here in Nigeria too.

If we are talking about home it’s not just ordinary 4 corners of walls or one hurt in a remote village.
We means standard structure from drawing to turn key where ALL things in such building are working in a normal way.

It might be a low cost housing , that doesn’t means that all key and necessary measure should not be put in place for the occupant.

Such as functioning
*water system
*electricity.
*spacious and well arrange compound
Etc.

NOT A HOME WHERE.
*You will enter bush to or dig ground at backyard to SHIT.

*You will be searching for water up and down the street to get water to bath.

*You will be searching for co landlord if they have light to charge your phone or to wash BALL.

* Where you will be coming to nairaland to look for whom to solve your BATHROOM TILING ERROR today, next day WIRE GOT BURNT another day ROOF LEAKAGE . 1 month later WATER INGRESS on the walls. Etc
. ( naaa by force to build house)

Some people While giving figure here they will be given figures based on others factors like

* Baba Charles will give me free granite left over at his site.

* Village people will help to excavate foundation free or by giving them OGOGORO, or CHINAPSS.

*He will cut tree free from the bush nearby for any wood work.

*Some will based there calculations on BABA LATTI will handle the job perfectly ok from foundation to turn key
*ONLY BABA latti
Bricklayer, Carpenter, tiler, painter, BABA latti even know QS work, BUILDER work, Architects work. Hahahah wetin,
Shee this one nna house abii CAGE.

Although you can get most of your materials free but you CANNOT use this as Yard stick to give likely cost for others.

Some professional also are not left out of this both
Architects,
Builders
Engr
QS
Etc
They will tell you don’t worry we will get it done
When money enter hand ..... you know the rest as usual for such bad characters fellow.

That is why we have many abandoned structures, collapsed building and SICK building also plus ready to collapse building every where today

Shey you no go keel me with laugh like this? grin

But it’s serious matter sha.

Tile before painting, though this is not a science. Nigerian artisans are very untidy and anyhow. The tiler can compromise the paint job.
