Thanks boss. I actually used gradschool/us news for the shortlist. Had to peruse the chemistry department of some other universities and reduced the list to this (I am still open to other suggestions though). I guess going through some works of the researcher should show his/her quality, or what do you think bro? Really appreciate.

Yup..right way to go.

Guys, when applying for GA spot is it advisable to apply to different departments at the same time? Just thinking if one could spread one's risk. I do not want to ask my advisor so I do not give him a bad impression.

It depends on if your program is giving you or not and the number of hours.
If your program is giving you a GA that's 20hrs/week then you can't do another.
If you get a GA that's just 10 hrs /week then you can find another.
Keep the number of hours in mind so you don't "officially" violate the rule because your school is watching since the GA will be on campus.

Pls I have a serious concern about Arikair airlines/planes. As u all know that people will always manage in Nigeria, companies, individuals, etc. Can someone trust airkair planes that their instrument (planes) won't be managed before it departs an international take off/flight ? I hope u understand mypoint. We all know that American airlines, BA, Airfrance airlines will never manage their planes, but can we trust Nigeria owned airline, Arikair planes that the planes are in good condition before flying ? Also, their pilots ? U know an average company in nigeria will always employ a cheap labourer. Can Arikair be trusted in terms of a safety flight to NY, USA ?
Honest answers pls

Hello, Boss! I used Arik Airline. It was OK. There was no in-flight entertainment. But it was OK. It was a direct flight.

I might be reading this a bit differently but...

No, not really. Think about it this way - you are applying to a subject matter (ie. department) for your graduate studies because you have an interest in that subject. If you apply to ten different subjects, is that really the best way to convince them that you have an interest there? I think a better plan would be to apply to the same department (ie. sociology, or political science, or communications) at multiple universities. That way you are spreading the risk but still getting a GA in the subject that you are interested...

You're on point. grin

But some majors are quite competitive while others are not.

What about in the course of interview for instance, someone who applied two majors and noticed that he's about to lose out in the main major he applied for, can't he or she ask the Admission Officer to consider him for second choice sort of?

What might cause this delay?
