First of all, Moorgate is not a city.

Secondly, whether or not you intend to stay with family and save on accommodation costs, you would still need to provide proof of funds.

So yeah, you can tell the interviewer that you intend to stay with family as it’s an easy commute to Moorgate. However, ask yourself this question....if you were the interviewer, would you believe that the funds shown would be available to the applicant throughout the course of his/her study given he/she has made it clear that the plan isn’t to pay for accommodation. Just remember this point when preparing for said interview.

Also, as an aside, I think someone already suggested you consider ‘brand name’ and look into other London Unis. Westminster for one is a decent alternative and is not too far from Moorgate. There are also other Unis that have ‘campuses’ in London (Sunderland, Coventry etc). If your brother lives in London (or neighbouring counties), you should be able to commute to most places. Just check and make sure you’re not signing yourself up for a crazy commute.

All the best.

Hello guys if I want to go for visa interview, can I tell them that I have a place to stay because I have a brother who is in a city not too far from moorgate the city where the school I applied to is (university of law business school), so how best should I go about that? Please I need advice.
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by Oloshi83: 11:15am On Apr 11, 2020
Seconded.

@preciousmatthias and uche06 I suggest you have a look at this since it’s such a competitive area

Cyberknight:

When paying for an expensive education, brand names matter. The University of Law, while it may be a good institution, hasn't got much name recognition, especially outside the UK.

I don't think any interviewer will even make a positive decision with that. We all know that most countries source of income rely on foreigners spending. If a student living cost is £1200 monthly, his brother /relative trying to accommodate must be living in 2 bedroom flat if he is single with minimum salary of £40000 in London

Quite right at the bolded.

And that minimum annual salary to which you referred must be after tax, not before tax, given that 2 bed flats rent in the region of roughly 1,500 to 2k p.c.m. on average. People earning north of 40k p.a. after tax are doing very well indeed.

The first part of your PhD research is researching prospective supervisors and prospective schools.
As a potential PhD student, you should be the one telling us about your PhD research.

For starters, type in PhD (Sustainable urban development) into google.
Then take it from there.

I agree. I was just trying to get the guy to think about it objectively.

Income requirements are always based on gross salary so although I agree that his sponsor/brother would need to be on a decent sum, the Home Office’s requirement always seems to be lower than what reality dictates. For example, last time I checked, for a British citizen/settled person to bring his/her spouse from abroad, they only have to be earning £18,600 before tax.

Well, i will strongly advice you to go for cyber-security . Comparing to Data Sc. Cyber security is one side that fits all approach . In data science, you will probably learn a programming language for data analysis e.g python and you will learn database quires e.g. SQL.... and you may learn little or no security for your data.

But in cyber-sec and if you want to excel in any IT field especially cyber sec, you must know or learn most thing about data Sc. eg, python. SQL...and deep security.

A cyber sec expert have 80% chances of standing in place of Data analyst and Data analyst has maybe not upto 5% to stand in for cyber sec expert.

But both courses are dope . My opinion anyway.

Its not good to place your passion on ROI .....like its a trade away.
Place your passion on the future you want your generations and linage to be like.....

go for cyber sec if you can but make sure you use this opportunity to learn basic things first before you resume. eg python, SQL ,Django, numpy, pandas, geoplots, machine learning. All this will be as easy as anything if you learn and know python basics first.

Which of these two do you have relevant work experience .... both are marketable. It now depends on what do you have on your cv to sell yourself. A masters only can never sell itself in uk work environment

I agree with you if his brother living in a single room can offer to accommodate him by presenting his tenancy agreement. The cheapest accommodation I saw for 1bedroom flat at Moorgate just now on Zoopla cost at least £2000 monthly. Most landlords only offer you their property to Tenant whose earning is more than twice or 2.5 of his yearly earning.

Agree with £18600 for British spouse. EU citizens earning to sponsor their spouse is less than that. To accommodate a student in UK, we all know that oga at top who are deciding issuance of Visa, won't welcome the idea of your sponsor living on public benefits or the student coming to study to claim public funds. Is only miracle /grace that makes someone with less than living cost to be issued a visa

This got nothing to do with student visa application, applicants should show that they have the required maintenance money as stated by UKBA , that is it, no need to present tenancy agreement or tell the ECO that you plan to stay with your family member.

Guess we are on the same track. The gentleman who raised the issue was asking if he can say to the ECO that he is planning of staying with his Brother in Moorgate after arriving in the UK pending on him searching for his own apartment.
Only advised him not to mention that. Is better for him to meet the financial requirements, get the visa. Travel to UK and move to his Brother place

Hello house, please who has applied for ATAS before 6th of April? I mean like Dec./Jan. and has got the ATAS.

I made a mistake in the my course title on the ATAS online application:

Aeronautical Engineering instead of Aerospace Engineering.

All other details correct, I have mailed them, and got back a mail not to duplicate it( not to send again)

Should I assume they will get it corrected or the certificate will have the error like that?

Pls respond.
Thanks

With your proposed specialization, it might be easier for you to get a Tier 1 start up visa if you can apply what the content of this degree seems to suggest. You might want to read up about it.

If you mean getting a job as in getting an employer to issue you a CoS for a Tier 2 after your degree, then with this specialisation your chances are low if you don't have skills in demand. It's for you to do research and find out what those are, you're about to commit 13k pounds to a venture, you should be able to do the research.

If you just want any job to work at for however long that may be, then I suppose your chances are as good as anyone else's.

You can apply along with your wife if you both have the required maintenance to show. The different names don't necessarily matter as long as you are properly married with reliable documentation and other evidence to prove it.

Re No. 1: Nurses are in demand and one is quite likely to get employed in that scenario. Remember that nurses' pay isn't that fantastic, I think freshers start in Band 5 or so in the NHS payscale, and that's about 23 - 25k p.a. (I stand to be corrected).

Re 2: No -one can answer that question, there are too many variables in it.
