grin Some people started driving on ehailing when uber came on-board .Paying rental of 50k weekly and making lots of money. Till date most of them are still on rental. There's a 50/50 chance some of them won't be smart enough to work towards owning their car even in 10yrs time .

You don't get it. Its not about saving up to buy a car. Most owners will be frustrated to drive their car and make money on part time basis than to give their car to drivers and collect 15k in a week.

Well, my plan b is the other business I do which requires little or no time.

I will still be making small money from the other stuff! And I planned to have like enough money for 1 month, kept somewhere so that I can also ways bank on it if need be.

I enjoy driving and have been driving for about 12 years now (not commercial driving though!)

iyaegin:

How long is the HP period, hope you have a Plan B for the week you don't make 30k.Think it through well you don't want to lose out after 6 months/ 1 year.
.Also as a newbie trying out a rental for about 1-3months first would have been an advisable option so you have a feel of the market although as December approaches there will be a rush so don't assume February -November is the same way...All the Best

But is it there a mechanism to report these erring drivers to Taxify/Uber? Where real sanctions that affcet the driver's rating or even continued stay on the platform is effected for erring drivers.

Uber/Taxify needs to know that the model they are running depends on the drivers doing right by the car owners

It will surprise you that it's the one you were friendly with that rated you one star out of ignorance, some of the riders know nothing about the rating system and just click one star, when they ask for reason they select conversion, in their mind they enjoyed it and think they just did you a favour. Uber needs to educate their riders more.

very correct.

What model is that?

brogxy:

I said it sometimes that rating in Nigeria is useless. During the period my vehicle was in perfect condition, I was getting useless ratings.
But for more than a month that I have bought this portable dvd player, with the vehicle not in a perfect condition, I got only five 4 star ratings and the rest has been 5 star ratings.

I have had 3 drivers now, and apart from the 1st, the others have been disaster.

They keep complaining about the car although it was good when i gave it to them. They have a million reasons why they wont pay the weekly money. Theh would not even call if i dont.

It has been a bad xperience.

Why are riders rating you poorly? Car issues?

Not sure it's car issues, as I've fixed the minor fault it had.
I feel the few riders that I took recently that talk like they own drivers must be responsible.
Few times I felt like canceling the trips before getting to pick ups but requests don't flow much.

I would advise you exercise patience and get a good driver. Maybe also you need to review rental fee after December when trips are low.

Tracker page: https://mymoto.com.ng/product/vehicle-car-pickup-commercial-trucks-gps-tracker-h02-tracker-nigerian-configured/
Office Location: 3-9 Olu Koleosho Street, Off Medical Road, Ikeja, Lagos

WHY DOES YOUR CAR NEED MYMOTO TRACKER

(1) Security: While anti-theft systems like push-buttons before car start, gear lock, pedal locks etc… are good, ONLY A TRACKING SYSTEM LIKE OURS ALLOWS YOU TO RECOVER (AND ALSO PROTECT) YOUR VEHICLE IF YOUR CAR IS HIJACKED FROM YOU WHILE DRIVING. Our trackers are both anti-theft and recovery in nature. e.g. You should shutdown your car before you sleep at night or park in a public space. Whenever you need to start the car, you enable it also.

(2) Remote Monitoring: GPS Security trackers allows you to monitor your vehicle location remotely from your phone. You are able to view your car’s location in real time (from our IOS/ANDROID APPS).

(3) Vehicle History: Through our online platform (IOS/ANDROID APPS) , you can view where your car had been between DAY X and DAY Y. A plot is shown on a map showing your car’s movement over this period of time.

(4) Remotely Stop Your Car: With our security GPS tracker, you are able to stop your car from ANY PHONE with an sms command. This function can also be carried out through our online platforms.

(5) Geo-Fencing Alarm:If your car goes beyond set a radius (or multi-point), say Lagos, you will be notified by sms.

(6) Other alarms (Over-speed Alarm, Ignition On Alarm, Low Battery Alarm ): Over-speed alarms notifies you via sms when your car goes beyond a particular speed. Ignition on notifies you WHENEVER your car is started. Low Battery Alarm lets you know when your car battery is low.

(7) Daily Mileage report (online platform): Daily mileage report shows you a daily chart (in KM) of your car.

We have heard of one or two expereience of how clients were able to recover their vehicles BECAUSE THEY HAD A TRACKER INSTALLED IN IT. We will be sharing some of them with you based on TRUE LIFE EXPERIENCES.

If you have had personal experiences also, kindly share with us.

WE STILL INSTALL THE MOST AFFORDABLE TRACKERS AROUND STARTING FROM 25K (VARIES WITH CAR MODEL).

CONTACT US ON 09032614208 OR 08060675824. More details on tracker: https://mymoto.com.ng/why-you-should-install-the-mymoto-security-tracker/

WE ARE THE ONLY COMPANY THAT OFFERS FREE LIFETIME ACCESS TO OUR ONLINE PLATFORMS FOR MONITORING/STOPpING YOUR CAR.

YOU'VE SPENT QUITE MUCH TO ACQUIRE YOUR CAR, SECURE IT WITH A TRACKER. BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY

Story 1
During one of our installs, the client shared with us how Mr Ayo (not his real name) borrowed his brothers car, and waylaid in the night somewhere in Lagos. Unknown to the thieves, the car had a tracker in it. That same night they tracked the vehicle to a military baracks (apparenntly the thieves had accomplices with military connections). They went with the police and they were able to recover the car (THE DEMOBILIZE FUNCTION OF THE TRACKER WAS USED TO ENSURE THE CAR DID NOT MOVE UNTIL THEY GOT TO THAT LOCATION)...

Story 2
Mr Bayo was bout entering his car in the night somewhere in Lagos when he was attacked. He immediately used his phone to demobilize the car some minutes after they had zoomed away with the car. The thieves ran away when they discovered the car wasn't strating again. The car was tracked to Ajah. Apparently the thieves ran away in fear with the keys of the car grin

The guy is on HP. Either 30k or 35k it depends on the agreement BTW the two parties. Carshopper is collecting 25k because his drivers are involved in the repair. Others collect 35k and bear the cost of all repairs. Its all about individuals.

10 years is too long. I know 10 drivers that now drive their own cars after a year of being on rental. There are many others that I do not know but the rate at which drivers are moving from rental to owning a car is very high. I drove for a partner for only 6 months before I sold my old car for 300k and got a loan plus other borrowing to buy my own car. Many of my friends did the same and we are done paying all loans and borrowings. Now we are on the level of saving up to buy another car

Owning and driving your car is the only model that makes sense in e-hailing. This rental we do is a facade. You might not agree now, but eventually you will.

It's not uber running this model, it's us the investors/partners. What uber really want is partners driving their cars themselves. The rent arrangement doesn't leave enough profit to go round after proper maintenance and fueling.

I do that sometimes. Mostimes at night in the village.

It depends on the car and outside temp. 3-4 litres per hr is my estimate for a 2003 accord with I4 engine. Under the hot sun will consume more fuel than in the night.

It is safer for me to sleep with ac on on the street than without. Infact, the sleep will be more comfortable. Things that will affect my sleep are heat, sounds from passing cars and people that will always wake me up and the fear of my losing my phone or other valuables while sleeping.
