If MTN is allowed to go without paying the fine, NCC will not be respected by other telecom operators and they will use this against the NCC in future.

They should b granted national pardon.

The amount should b reduced drastically if nt poor subscribers ll pay d price indirectly.
Making poor subscribers pay the price indirectly or directly may attract another jumbo fine! A new sheriff is in town.

B I t c h(MTN) better have my money! How in the whole wide world would the South African telecommunication breaches the law and asks for leniency? I hope the NCC reduces it and uses it as a scapegoat for the others. We can't continue to live like animals for long.

If NCC just take style back down and reduce the fees, I go go out for 1am and swear for them, both the Executives and all those involved.

The truth is that MTN has taken us for a ride so much in this country and they have gone away with it. Can Nigerian disobey the order of SA if any of this law exist? Lets call a spade a spade, Let MTN pay, your days of scamming is over, Pls pay ooo, NCC no collect bribe o, Buhari, we are watching you in SuperHD

MTN should pay the stipulated fine. It might not be at once but in installments.

I was thinking they were fined for poor network service and ridiculous money deducted for not subscribing for a particular freebies (zombie sh*t... Or whatever the name is called).

NCC should forgive Mtn, that amount is huge. If Mtn folds up in Nigeria millions are going to lose their jobs and that's not good.

NCC should have given them a way lesser fine that can still pass the message.

Anyway Mtn should sort this out themselves and change for better.

@bolded: Now you are talking...

Why didn't they comply like their peers did?

Na only them waka come? angry

Are they superior to their regulators?

If you follow the story very well, you will notice that MTN has a history of defying regulators. They probably considered themselves "untouchable" until now.

This will make them to brace up. cool

He who fetched insect infested firewood is inviting lizards for a meal... No leniency for them, they should pay the heavy fine which will serve as a lesson to other foreign companies (Indian/Lebanon/China) who think they can do anyhow in Nigeria.
My guy u get it right. These guys are killing the economy and enslaving nigerians and we are just helpless in this second colonialism and exploitation. To me, the sanction is necessary to serve as deterrent.

MTN was fined and we all are happy...know ye not that the money will be gotten from us(customers)?
Re: N1.04tn Fine: MTN Apologises, Seeks Leniency by harryubak(m): 9:29pm On Nov 04, 2015
You guys that are happy about the MTN fine fail to understand that as their customer, you also stand to suffer with them. Just this evening I got an sms from MTN informing me that MTN TrueTalk (Family n Friends) has been discontinued as a result of regulator directive (of cos na lie). With the call plan customers can make calls to 11 registered nos for 11k per sec but now it is 20k per sec. Only God knows what else is up their sleeves to gather the fine money.
